Painless Update tool for Windows. Little bit of Pain for Mac
What do you like best about the product?
Automox provides clear information about what applications require updating, what applications are failing updating, and why, as well as a schedule for installing and updating new patches. You can use very basic PowerShell or bash commands to create your own scripts to install updates, or you can use any of the scripts the Automox team has created, or any that the community has created.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are issues with updating and restarting. Sometimes a computer restarts, but the console doesn't update. It also has issues reconnecting to Macs running ARM chips. This has been addressed recently, but we still see some computers not connecting. This is a minor issue as often another reboot will reconnect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we are 100% work from home, we were unable to keep computers on the latest security patches for both OS's and applications. Additionally, the cost to have someone manually update machines is beyond our capability. By utilizing Automox, we have increased our security without impacting our users and have substantially cut our time spent updating machines considerably.

Capabele platform that does the job!
What do you like best about the product?
The multi-platform support for Windows, MacOS and Linux from a single console combined with agent based patching does make it a very capable platform that reduces software vulnerabilities rapidly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The list of build-in supported third party software could be better compared to others but you can work around this with worklets
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software related vulnerabilities, configuration changes and multi-platform maintance of devices time and place independently.
Painless patch management automation
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy setup and UI, 80% of the patching for 20% of the work
What do you dislike about the product?
Needs better reporting, could use some more polish, more admin options
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Patch management, vulnerability management
Patching with Automox is simple and painless
What do you like best about the product?
Love the product's ease of deployment and timely response from support along with the proactive approach of Automox and the Automox Alive Community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much of anything except a more robust reporting section. Excellent product for dealing with today's Work From Home environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Patch and compliance when many employees are working from home. Easy to deploy and maintain.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Automox seems very interested in improving the product by rolling out new or improved features which can be tracked by viewing the product roadmap. Besides standard patching, you can check for and deploy required software and apply non standard changes using the scripting possibilities built on PowerShell called Worklets. Being totally a cloud based solution is a plus. There is timely response from support along with the active Automox Alive Community.
Automox Review
What do you like best about the product?
A Simple and intuitive web portal that makes a hard job easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
No custom reporting at this stage. Being able to customize for different audiences would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great Product. Makes managing fleet patches and security posture a breeze.
Great Patch Management That Actually Works
What do you like best about the product?
Patch management is easy, granular and actually patches the systems! Reporting then gives a good overview of where your environment is at patch-wise. Amazing tools and great reliability. Better than any other solution we have tried.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some actions (like software deployment) does require some scripting and in the event of complex tasks, a lot of scripting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software deployment and Patch management are the main issues we are resolving, though reporting/visibility are a part of that as well. Being cloud managed means we can access our patch management anywhere, and it also means our remote machines and laptops do not have to be in the office to enforce patch policies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really consider what kind of management you need in your organization. If the concern is enforcing patch policies and manual approval of updates - plus great visibility and reporting on patch status - then Automox is a great fit. If you are looking for a solution that just has a bunch of programs pre-built in for new software deployment, know the Automox can do software deployment well, but does require scripting know how and really doesn't have a lot of "built-in" options.
Easy cross platform patching
What do you like best about the product?
It works with all the OSes we use in our infrastructure. Most other patching tools either only support one or two Linux Distro's or don't patch macs. This has allowed us to simplify our environment to a single dashboard for patching instead of three.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only downside is if users jump from one subnet to another often (For laptops) the agent sometimes can show the device as being offline until the next scan schedule or the system reboots. Also they haven't gotten access rights quite squared away so you can't yet limit access to specific groups to specific users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our previous patching solution required an on premise server and did not patch Ubuntu or Macs. It was also a very convoluted process to view the information I was looking for such as OS build, last check-in, if the system required a reboot plus they wanted extra for troubleshooting and deployment. I'm now able to have an easy to read dashboard , have worklets for custom scripts, and can more easily create many custom patching schedules for the same groups.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your main need is being able to patch Windows, Linux, and Mac systems both local and hosted (AWS, Azure etc), push scripts for policy changes, software installation etc and don't want the overhead of multiple servers for patching Automox is great. They have fantastic support, have a growing worklet library for software installs, GPO changes, bitlocker enforcement etc.
Automox is an awesome product for meeting our patching needs.
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and price point. The design of the web portal is beautiful. I love using Automox.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to search devices based on additional parameters such as last user to login.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our systems are secure. I am saving time as an admin by not having to manually patch all of our Windows & Mac computers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to plan out your deployment in coordination with all team members throughout the company.
Great start-up solution, manage diverse endpoints, easy interface
What do you like best about the product?
Visibility into endpoints? Patching across Mac, Windows, Linux? Deploying software or policies? hard to pick just one thing!
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting is on the way up, I know from speaking to the team at Automox, but currently it is the Achilles heal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If you have a diverse infrastructure of endpoints, how do you patch? How do you deploy policy goals? How do you deploy new software? Now imagine you do not have Active Directory, on top of the real-world fact that AD doesn't play well with Apple or Linux anyway. Automox solved all of this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Automox is a SaaS Systems Management tool I would easily recommend. It works cross-platform and gives quick insight into system hardware and software, the ability to patch on schedules and as you desire, and more. This was the only tool that met all of our requirements when we searched for a cloud-based cross-platform tool to perform inventory, software deployment, and patch management. Add to that the excellent price point - it was an easy decision.
Automox has been a lifesaver.
What do you like best about the product?
Everything they have to offer -
Patches and visibility,
Required Software,
Custom Policies allows for all sorts of fun things.
Patches and visibility,
Required Software,
Custom Policies allows for all sorts of fun things.
What do you dislike about the product?
They're still heavily evolving, but so far the largest negative impact has been the dashboard. Loading times are sometimes difficult to bare.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Update compliance, remote support, and visibility for both.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for an all in one patch/software solution, you can bet Automox will take care of it. If there's anything you think it's missing Automox will happily take your suggestion under advisement, and you shouldn't be surprised if you see it pop up in a new release.
