clunky, slow, sprawling

What do you like best about the product?
Does a decent job of keeping spam and phish emails out.
What do you dislike about the product?
Proofpoint, as a whole, consists of at least 5 different administrator portals. Proofpoint has done a poor job of unifying their management tools, which we told they were "working on" when we started using it 5+ years ago. They have essentially aquired companies whose features they want, and then hack it into their platform. If you want a "single pane of glass" to see what is going on in your org. Proofpoint is not the solution.

Lastly, there was a big issue Proofpoint being used to send spam through M365 tenants. We have reason to beleive Proofpoint knew about this a year before they decided to inform their customers, and later the public. Not a good look for a security company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows us to enforce DLP, encryption, and block inbound spam
