A tool you don't want to miss in your datacenter
What do you like best about the product?
The SUSE Manager offers a good startpoint to manage Linux systems in your network, even if you are not a linux administrator. The most important maintenance work like updates can be done easily using the webinterface.
But also professionals can automate almost everything using the cli-tools or api and connect own applications/tools.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the way of integrations works against the flexibility the integrated tools (salt, cobbler) normally offer. But this is a must be to get everything in a nice api/web-ui bundled for everybody.
If you need something more special you need to use the cli and fiddle a bit around the integration. But it can be done.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main part ist patching/updating the systems. Using software staging is very easy with the susemanager and so we can test all new updates on test systems before installing them in production.
The second part is automation/configuration management using salt.

Perfect for upgrading and managing different Linux distributions
What do you like best about the product?
Not only managing Suse Enterprise Linux versions, but it is a Multi-Distribution management system. I'm managing multiple distributions with one interface.
I definitely like the Life-Cycle management system.
I definitely like the Life-Cycle management system.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes hard to create a different channel for non Suse distributions. Command line operations may sometimes be challanging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central updating several versions of Suse and other distributions. Next to that it is hard to find CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) in one overview for all server. Dropping al updates at once using LifeCycle manager helped me a lot to stage updates.
Well supported, mature and feature rich!
What do you like best about the product?
The Salt Stack features and the flexibility of it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability of the proxy servers to cache anything not cached on the main server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Configuration file management and stronger automation tools.
