Asana is FANTASTIC for small remote businesses that need a way to more effectively communicate
What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can customize projects for our company's needs. We are a small non-profit that deals with education grants. We are just starting to use Asana in our work and I love how Asana allows us to take in relevant information and data through the use of the forms, organize it in fields so it can be seen at a glance, automate tasks, and then communicate with all of the collaborators in the different parts of our organization. It's a timesaver AND a sanity saver. No more lost communications through emails and chat messages. Everything we need to plan and execute our services is in one place! Even the less-tech savvy members of the team are embracing the ease of use.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything yet that I dislike about Asana itself, but many of the video tutorials and examples that are given on the Help page are focused around traditional business models and functions (sales). Our business deals somewhat with financial aspects, but more with managing students and programs. I have to think very deeply and be creative to imagine the ways I can best use Asana in my work because the use-case examples that are provided don't often fit the work I do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of my work is completed remotely working with a team that is tasked with delivering services to students in rural areas. We have to keep track of content that needs to be delivered in a consistent manner, keep track of the needs/wants of the individual schools we work with, and keep track of individual conversations we have with each student we work with. All-the-while the team needs to communicate to plan large multi-school services, collaborate to create new workshop-type services to deliver to the students, and share data that must be entered into our database to report our work for the grant. There are many moving parts to this grant, and Asana is helping to streamline this work. Because we are new to Asana, I am envisioning how to set up projects to house all of the pertinent information, and I am coming up with some pretty brilliant ways to use the platform to creatively represent and manage the information, if I do say so, myself! Our methods of communication around this work has transformed and we are much more efficient and effective carrying out our daily tasks. Asana has been a gamechanger already and we are just dipping our toe in the pool. I can't wait to see what happens when everyone is on board and proficient working on the platform!

I like Asana as it is a great tool to use for collaboration. As a nonprofit marketing professional at a mid-sized school, it helps us coordinate projects between many different departments. I use it daily and couldn't live without it. It was easy to implement and integrate into our workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve to starting up with the software, but once you get the hang of it Asana becomes second nature.

It is helping us complete projects on budget and on time through the scheduling function. Sub tasks help keep us focused and on task. The calendar funciton helps us prevent double booking publication dates for promotions with other departments. It's a project management super tool.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a manager, there is a real need to manage tasks and workflow of my team. Asana has been there to the rescue. I love the way it helps organize the tasks and streamline workflows.
I am still in the process of learning Asana to the fullest, but already love the tools I see.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the intentionality of the tools. You can tell lots of thought have been put into each aspect of the application.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is pretty cumbersome to start. The training videos are helpful, but it takes a lot of time to actually get to a point where you feel like you can use it effectively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves collaborative project confusion. It allows us to work together more smoothly.
An exceptional and completely malleable platform to fit whatever type of organization need you have!
What do you like best about the product?
Asana's layout is highly engaging and interactive with many features such as automations, fields that populate directly into your project from created request forms, and an insane amount of reporting ability at multiple levels of a workflow. It also integrates with a TON of outside platforms that companies utilize on a regular basis, allowing everything to flow into one place for your various teams and clients. Once you go through the trainings and get the hang of it, I think it's very easy to implement into our workflow! I use it every day, multiple times a day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jumping into the platform, some of it is very intuitive and some of it isn't. When you try to automate, and things go wonky... it can be very confusing. BUT- that said, Asana has some of the best FREE trainings I've ever seen in other platforms. They do live trainings that you can schedule around your workday as well as numerous video recordings and even a CERTIFICATION PROGRAM!!!! I feel like this more than makes up from any difficulty learning the platform. (I should have started there first.) :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our boutique digital marketing agency is scaling up and growing quickly. We needed strong organization and centralization for multiple team's workflows and communication. Asana is the perfect fit! We are rolling it out company-wide and are excited for where Asana will help us grow in the future.
Lots of great features, and also lots of frustrations
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the fact that I am basically building my templates from the ground up. The best thing for my team is the various ways that someone can sort or view their assignments, since everyone wants to see their to-dos in a different way
What do you dislike about the product?
There are several features that seem like no-brainers, yet they are not included. I have even looked up most, if not all, of these features and found online forums dating multiple years back asking for these features, and absolutely no response:
1. cannot duplicate templates
2. Cannot change due date or assignees after you create the original project
3. It would be great to be able to create a "customized" home page for my entire team. ie, just a place where I can put my "asana how-tos" for them to easily find.
4. cannot add a "notes" document to a template
5. to-dos still showing up for people even if we archive a project
6. sub-tasks are INCREDIBLY CLUNKY to add to a template
7. Why can't portfolios be part of projects? This is a major one for our team.
8. "Notes" documents have very few formatting options (different colors, highlights), making it hard to identify important information beyond just bolding it
9. I'm confused as to how I can get help if I can't figure out how to implement something. Do I write my sales rep? once they pointed me to external asana consultants that I would have to pay extra????
