Easy to use

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the best about Asana is

Asana is Intuitive. - you are ability to understand immediately how to use the software.

Team members can follow each others work and progress of tasks and can communicate and share files o projects.

You can create sub-tasks with due dates within a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike. This was a hard question to answer because I really like the product but I think the search function could improve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problem we are solving is effective project management and keeping the team on task to complete tasks by dues date. Also the team manages multiple projects and tasks at once.
This also gives us a review process and record of tasks completed.

Team collaboration...free

What do you like best about the product?
The best features, in my opinion, is the ability to create separate projects and being able to assign different members to each of them.
The chat part where we discuss the details and ask for modifications, those messages are directly forwarded to my email. Also, the files attached will be forwarded.
But the really best part is that we can use it for free(we are a very small team( and the restrictions are not many for those on the free plan.
The possibility to invite guests give us the simplicity of not only collaboration between members but also share the development evolution with our clients. They seem to look happy with the simplicity and most didn't resist to use it communicate and provide feedback through the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app could be a bit more rich featured. I have the feeling that i can't reach the same potential as i do in the Browser app. I use the webb app daily and there are days that dont even bother to check the android app. Maybe its me but i believe it can be improved to have a similar experience as the web app.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For a free service is definitely worth a try. If you have a small team like ours, it will extremely useful to share your projects and make team collaboration faster and more efficient.
Probably it will take a day or two to get used to it, bus as soon as you get how to handle it it will be very straight forward.

Great start but now loosing focus as a collaboration tool

What do you like best about the product?
The Asana user interface is very nice -- highly interactive, a joy to use. The getting started tutorial videos are a great way to get someone started on it, like my team. We use it primarily for running team meetings. We copy the agenda forward each week, and assign todos quickly using the UI during the meeting.
What do you dislike about the product?
The performance of asana seems to have degraded a lot, cloning a project takes a long time. We find that it cannot be our only collab and communication tool, which was its initial promise. Now we are back to using a mixture of other tools for our team to collaborate and communication, including JIRA/Confluence, slack, and trello.

Ironically, I tried to use asana across multiple organizations, and the consolidated views make the product very hard to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started using Asana initially hoping that it will be our primary communication and collaboration tool, especially bringing together technic staff and business people. The ease of use part of the UI got us started. We used it for close to a year to manage our internal meetings, as well as some project management initially.

The project management use of it, basically a enhanced to-do system, ended up being inadequate for our needs. We moved back to trello for non business tracking, and JIRA for software development tracking. Slack, with some custom integration, ended being our primary email replacement communication tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The start up cost is very low. If you have simple communication and collaboration needs, Asana still deserve a look. Since inception there are a lot of other tools available now, and I highly recommend testing out different tools with different models to see which one fit your team's need.

A fun way to keep your team on task

  • April 27, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Ability to assign subtasks owner and due date
- Drag and drop features are convenient
- Fun interface with "rewards" for completing tasks
- Great dashboard for quick overview of task completion/history
- Pleasant color scheme with customizable features
- So awesome that you can assign a task to multiple projects
- Love the template feature to copy tasks to a new task
What do you dislike about the product?
- Not possible to assign one task to multiple people
- Hard to move subtasks out a level, especially when you want to move a task to a level that isn't the main project
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Asana has allowed transparency of tasks between team members and helps put into perspective everything that one person is working on at one time, and how many projects our team is working on at once
- Getting all team members to use one task management software
- Ability to collaborate as a team on a project together in one place other than email
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is very robust. The only way to make the most of it is to ensure that all users use it correctly. If users aren't keeping tasks organized, adding notes, tagging tasks, etc., the software becomes meaningless and inefficient, because the necessary data isn't there to get the job done.

Asana - Cool tool for smaller project teams

  • April 22, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has many intuitive surprise factor - when you try something if this maybe work, and wow, it just does what I expected (like I have a list of bullet-pointed tasks in Outlook as a note, and then okay, create many tasks from the whole list just works as one single copy paste - these kind of brilliant solutions makes really handy)

When you work as a team, team members always need to be aligned, this is well supported:
- team members can follow each others' task and then get notifications about every state change
- in the team calendar it is very easy to follow up, who does (or did) what and when each tasks are planned to be worked on
What do you dislike about the product?
In many cases 2 things, task duration and task dependency would be handy which is missing. This also means that when you are working on a 3 days long task, you hardly can make it visible in the team calendar, unless you create small chunks of the bigger task, that you work on a a day - but this also leads to the other problem, that if you have a more complex project, where A task is a pre-condition of task B which is the pre-condition of task C - you have no choice to represent and manage this well, as when you represent this for yourself, you add these tasks to the calendar after each other, but when you have a delay with A or B task, you can grab in the calendar B and C - that should be there and should be more real-life-like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We Use this tool at Nebu to coordinate smaller non development related projects and to co-ordinate the assignments of the management team. I would declare 2 main goals for the usage of Asana:
- minimise loose ends (every task we identify for Management, goes to Asana, and then gets an assignment, which let admit it - essential part of a well working administration)
- make work and statuses transparent for the relevant people (for the project teams)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has a free version that has some limitations, just try it and run a smaller project in it and be surprised how simple it is to use and have a real first hand experience if the tool is suitable for you (does it cover well your daily work, check, if it fulfills the demands from your external parties, so basically if you need to give an insight, are you able to answer those questions easily enough or not)

Asana, keeping the whole team on track

  • April 22, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best is the simplicity that Asana offers. A lot of work and thought has been put into the overall UI/UX of the site. An awesome feature of the site is real-time updates, not having to reload to see changes saves time. Also, the integrated discussion section of the site is also helpful. Having a discussion space just for certain projects is a big plus. Touching on simplicity again, tags are helpful when putting certain tasks into a category. Asana is a fantastic tool for freelancers, you can seamlessly switch between different group projects and personal tasks. This is helpful if working for different clients that involve teamwork. Another great feature is the ability to delegate tasks by user. You can let others know within your team of what to focus on directly. When on the go, the new offline sync update is helpful. Tick off tasks that you've completed outside of internet coverage, and the app will let the team know next time you're online. Overall, awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
Search function needs some improvements, even though you can categorize by tags. Not a big issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teamwork within any business is essential. Being able to stay on the same page with projects with Asana is fantastic and has boosted overall productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for keeping your team on track. I would recommend Asana if you are wanting somewhere to put team notes, organise tasks, and keep on track with the overall progress of any one project.

Great project management tool for internal teams!

  • April 14, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to organize projects and check tasks of the to-do list. My internal marketing department recently completely a website migration project by using Asana. We placed each web page as a task and then the tasks could be organized into categories and assigned to an employee for completion. Each employee could then tag a manger in the comments section when they had issues or questions and the manager could respond accordingly. Worked like a dream!

I also use it to keep track of tasks that I need to complete each day and keep a running list of projects I'm working on, along with details and sub-tasks. Our team is small (6 people) so using Asana is free for us, which is a huge plus!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a more user-friendly search function. It's cumbersome to have to use multiple filters to search for a task, whether its incomplete or already been completed. I wish I could just search my organization from a high-level and the query would pull matches, from where ever that task lives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the problem of effective project management and limiting the number of emails our team receives every day. When we have a new project we can easily organize it and delegate tasks. You never have to wonder if something has been accomplished or send an email to ask if something's been done, just check the project in Asana and see what tasks have been completed. Our team is more organized overall and projects are completed in a much more efficient and effective manner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say try out the free version and see how you like it. You won't be disappointed!

Asana makes me enjoy my tasks

  • March 24, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The way Asana helps you manage your tasks is awesome. Its too easy to use. Connects your entire team together.
What do you dislike about the product?
The splash screen sometimes loads very slow. It takes longer to load Asana some times. I am sure its not my internet connection as other sites work just fine. The Android mobile app is slow too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Asana as a tool to manage tasks internally. Ever since we have started using Asana it has eliminated the email coordination within our in-house teams. its much easier to just assign tasks using asana and keep a track of tasks without having to chase back and forth emails.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is amazing! If you are tackling lots if tasks on a daily basis and needs a solution where you can easily keep track of your work. Asana is the software you want to use.

A simple project management tool that suits most needs of small teams

  • March 22, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a really complex tool with a really simple and clean user interface.
It's great for projects management within small teams (2-15 members) but it lacks some features that are important in bigger teams.
It has a great support for keyboard input, what makes my job is 2 times faster.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no real support for agile teams. There is no "kanban" view with cards in different states (To Do, In Progress, Resolved, QA, Closed).
We have to adapt our own process to fit the tool needs and not the other way around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The most important problem that this solves is project management. t enables me to track the things I have to get done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Test the free version, use it for a project or two and see for yourself how easy it is.

Asana is a quick way to manage your team's tasks

  • March 15, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Creating tasks is just typing and hitting enter away. It's so fluid and fast. Also you can easily divide your tasks on sections by ending the name with a colon. The new UI updates also brought some fun to the interface. It's awesome to be rewarded by a unicorn after checking off some task!
What do you dislike about the product?
The messaging features are lacking. There's no editing of comments and messages. There aren't real message threads for communication with team members in projects. Interface is pretty crowded.

Also you can't have private conversations with people, every task comment is sent to every follower of the project.

The user management for projects is also one of the area where Asana not really shines. It's complicated and not really obvious what user can do which thing on a project. This is a big issue when planning to invite your clients into the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps me stay on top of all the tasks in a client project. Asana is our go to solution for project management. It's quick and easy to create tasks and there are some addons (enabled in settings) which help with project estimation and much more. For example writing numbers in brackets in the task name, which then get added up when selecting multiple tasks helps so much with estimating hours for projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of dividers in your tasks lists, they can be used to divide lists in workflow steps, like "Work in progress", or "Released". Dividers can be created either via the plus icon, or by ending the task name with a colon, e.g. "Work in progress:".
