Keeps Me Organized and On Task
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use; I use it for all of my work tasks. I personally don't use it to collaborate on projects. It's where I store and manage all of my tasks so I can prioritize and move stuff around as I see fit. I also use the recurrence feature so I don't have to keep adding items to my calendar every so often; it's automatic. The unicorn that pops up when you check off tasks and projects is fun, too!
What do you dislike about the product?
For those who aren't technologically savvy, it can be a bit difficult to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Transparency and planning. The adoption rate is low, so I'm not sure what benefits the company is getting out of the software. The success depends on everyone on a team using it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you get buy-in from the whole company and/or that teams are enforced to use it.
Tracking Projects Was Never This Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to use multiple levels for a project down to the task level. Interaction is available not only in the app, but also via emails tied to the app. "The mobile app is excellent and allows Asana to function as the central point of our projects. We keep all our data there from the moment an agreement is signed until completion.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like any collaborative space, someone has to be in charge and willing to set rules for the way the organization uses the product. That's more of an org issue, but it's related to how any collaboration can effectively occur. Our org does great with Asana. I watched someone at a client try to get buy-in from others and eventually stop the project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There is one place for assignments and interaction regarding tasks. When something comes up on a phone call or during any sort of contact, we'll immediately say "Put it in Asana". We even have a bucket list of projects and tasks that we want to keep centralized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Test with 2 or 3 users first and see how the software fits your organization. We had an easy time, but we saw another user fail after they didn't pre-plan and couldn't get buy-in. I tested it with another person and then we rolled out to a remote team.
For an anti-task manager user, I like Asana
What do you like best about the product?
The top two features available in Asana is nested tasks and drag/drop functionality. It also auto-integrates with a lot of other platforms like Slack. Honestly, you can do quite a bit already with IFTTT but I feel more comfortable with the built-in integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice if the things labeled (like projects or tasks) give more direction on what should be included. I've had plenty of managers and team members misuse the product because they don't know when to use certain elements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps bring together teams that telecommunicate and don't meet physically regularly. It also helps keep track of all tasks big and small. It also lets you update external parties on their tasks statuses.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
YOU MUST TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES. Asana is great and powerful but if you don't teach your employees to use it, it will fail. Also, make sure your ADMINS know how to use it properly.
Fantastic project management tool - everything you need in one place!
What do you like best about the product?
I love how tactile the interface is, you can choose from a variety of different set ups (boards like Trello, lists, etc.) It's really easy to colour code and customize - you can assign to people and visually see who is in charge of what. It's the best!
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of the features that I would love (tasks depending on other tasks, templates) are in the paid version, which is understandable. It's quite a robust tool at the free level, and I'm not prepared to upgrade to the paid version yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping myself, my team and my clients on task during projects. Ensuring that nothing slips through the cracks!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's free so try it out! There are lots of different ways to use it - find what works best for you! My favourite hack is syncing the deadlines with your calendar!
Excellent Tool for any size team
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is the best tool I've used for task management, particularly when it comes to documentation. So often things are lost in emails, and here everything is recorded so it is easy to refer back to things.
What do you dislike about the product?
There aren't things I necessarily dislike, but I think there are improvements that could be made to take it to another level. Adding "assignee" would be a big one, as well as being able to assign a task to a team and not necessarily an individual.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management and cross-functional team communication. We use this to better communicate not only within our teams, but to assign tasks outside of our team and communicate deadlines in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Train your team so everyone is using it in the same way. I think this goes for every technology though, but setting a standard so no one gets lost in the many subtasks or projects will help everyone adopt quickly and effectively.
Email is a terrible way to manager your projects
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is the email killer. It puts everything in context of a task or conversation, give complete transparency to who is doing what, but has privacy too, if needed. Do you ever get added to an email and it doesn't have the original attachment? Or how about the double email, opps forgot the attachment. How about an email about X and a subject line that says Y. No more with asana, context is king and managing a task or project in context kills it every time.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike about asana, and I'm being completely honest. Maybe the search could be better, but its 10x better than Outlook, so it's pretty hard to complain about it being a weakness.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage all our projects in asana and our problem was we would be requests for creative tasks via email and a google form. Then we had to manage each one individually, without being able to see status of each. We use asana for all of that and have visiability.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stop managing work by email, use a project tool with an app for your device.
Excellent Project Management Software
What do you like best about the product?
We have used Asana for the tracking and planning of all sorts of projects - from IT delivery & development to managing teams of people on location doing surveys. Asana is extremely flexible and through the use of tags, custom fields and views can be configured to look and work whatever way you like.
The collaboration functions between teams and individuals is excellent and relatively simple integration with email via a project email addresses makes tracking and logging of progress and discussion simple.
Task creation and tracking is simple and effective with a very nice UI and UX. Status updates on projects are central and simple making it easy to keep on top of multiple projects.
The recent addition to Asana of end dates for tasks and dependencies between them is very welcome as is the increasing number of projects templates available.
Again lots of API integrations are available between Asana and many other software packages.

What do you dislike about the product?
The flexibility of the product is one of its main strengths but also one of the things that can cause problems if you are not strict about how you set up projects.
Reporting on development KPIs has not been easy to set up.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to manage projects of differing types with people in many different locations.
It is an excellent product for helping us deliver as planned.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a very flexible product and can be made to work for most setups.
Team collaboration that beats emails and independent task lists
What do you like best about the product?
Team Conversation - Centralized Tasks
Seems like a lot of features to help collaboration and move away from email for info sharing
Sharing Task lists

Sharing Task lists
What do you dislike about the product?
Can not paste images inline (this is infuriating for information sharing!)!!!
Projects can seem hard to manage, sometimes too much barrier to keeping straight what/where things are organized as per project vs just using as general task list management
wish for easier consolidation of information that is generated outside of the tool (text messages, email importing and cataloging would be very helpful to transition people to the tool)

Central organization of information posts to the team

Would seriously try others including Hive ($) but be careful in evaluating. there is an element of feeling locked in once you start sharing....
Asana will streamline your project management
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to use Asana, no coding knowledge needed. It is incredibly easy to navigate the site and add team members. Organizing your notes, project milestones, and team member chats are very easy. I use Asana for client onboarding and it is a great use of the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I truly haven't found a feature I do not like, I wish there was a search feature that made it easier to find comment threads but if I can remember the topic or day it is easy to find the conversation with my team in the notes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to use Asana as a project managemenet tool. It is easy to lay out step-by-step, day-by-day the exact progression of a project my team and I are working on. We can easily upload files for sharing, schedule meetings, leave comments about particular elements of the project without sending a million emails back and forth. I love the chat feature that enables me to work with my team in different time zones without having to make a late night or early morning phone calls and still stay on track to meet deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I love how easy Asana is to navigate and use. There are wonderful features like the "like" button to comment on threads, the chat feature to host discussions with members of your team, the calendar is a wonderful way to lay out day-by-day the progression of the project you are working on. You can easily upload documents you need to share with your team and you can assign tasks to the entire team or specific individuals.
Quick and Easy Task Manager
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is an out of the box solution that you can use individually or as a team. I personally think you get a lot more value out of the product when you use it as a collaborative task manager to divide out different pieces of a project. It's clean UI transfers well to mobile app and makes it easy to always see how much you have due at a given time. You can assign items to yourself or others, tag tasks to projects, have chats within the task or project, etc. There is a slack integration too but I haven't used it.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of desired features are hidden in the paid version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking tasks, recording projects, splitting out team responsibilities. It's great that it's shareable with my manager too so she always knows how much is on my plate. We can have chats in Asana too so that communication about a project stays within that project
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a shot, but it's best for a team.
