Asana THE tool for project management

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is an outstanding project management tool that has significantly improved our team's organization and efficiency. Its intuitive interface makes task tracking effortless, and the ability to assign responsibilities, set deadlines, and monitor progress in real time keeps everyone aligned and accountable. The customizable workflows which automate tasks, generate weekly/monthly summaries make the PMOs life easier, and the integrations with tools like Microsoft Teams and Outlook make collaboration seamless. The visual project timelines and boards providing clear overview of ongoing work on project and portfolio level, but also the alignment to our teams and companies goals in the strategy map is great. Asana truly empowers teams to stay focused, meet deadlines, and achieve goals with clarity and confidence.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited features and collaboration possible with team mates not having Asana license.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is an excellent organizational tool for my needs. It can scale with larger companies, but is still perfectly usable for my team of 30. It's intuitive for new users, but offers a high level of customizability for long-time users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Increasing accessibility for automation to new users would help encourage its use among new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has been key in helping our team streamline our daily tasks.

A Project Management Dreamscape

What do you like best about the product?
It's aesthetically pleasing, but also extremely user-friendly and functional in the most practical of ways. The flair makes it fun, but the workflow technology and ability to multi-home, customize, and report makes it an essential software product for any organization. A new-hire template was used and provided to me in order to facilitate my onboarding, and it was the best orientation experience I've ever had at a new job. I have continued to learn and fall more in love with the product ever since! Any time I have a question, the Asana team members are quick to help, whether via customer support or the Asana forum. The skill badges offered in Asana Academy are intuitive, informative, and supremely helpful for getting the most out of this platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I create and configure a template on behalf of a colleague, I continue to receive notifications about their changes - I wish there were a way to create a project for someone and then remove yourself. Knowing Asana, there is most likely a way to do this (as they've thought of just about everything!) but I just have not figured it out yet!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We serve partners on a year-long contract, so being able to launch a new project from a pre-saved template when they onboard to guide us through the entire year (with one click!) is amazing. It's also supreme for onboarding new hires internally. As a start-up, we collaborate heavily, so the multi-homing is a must. It's also helpful to utilize the Workload view to see who needs things removed from their plate and who may have a little space for a special project. Most importantly, it just ensures nothing that needs doing falls through the cracks.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy for team to transition to - easy and straight forward with minimal to no training needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not able to automatically move dependent tasks if main task due date changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identifying tasks that are pending, holding team accountable by having visbility to tasks. Also identifying workload for team members and adjusting work load accordingly

Good tool for some use cases, not all of them

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The tool is fast, even with big boards and plenty of tickets, the app stays responsive and synchronous. The base configuration is good for simple projects, and it is possible to adapt it for bigger projects or organizations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool is supposed to accommodate every kind of project and business, but it is not built for product-oriented organizations that work with sprints or cycles. Quickly it becomes impossible to track things, the dashboards get valueless. It is needed to tweak Asana in order to make it work in this fashion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to track the work by tickets and by projects, to assign these tickets to people and follow where we are on a day-by-day basis.

Project Management in a High Paced and Always Changing Environment

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to have a glance of high level activities and the flexibility to ensure the little details are not missed with use of subtasks and rules.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much downside - I wish the mobile app was a bit more like the desktop version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cross departmental functionality as several groups are involved in each project we manage.

We've switched to Asana and I'm so happy we did

What do you like best about the product?
As a project manager, I am very particular about adding timelines and ensuring that dependencies and subtasks are properly set. What I like most about Asana is the ability to switch between different views. I start with the list view to outline all of my tasks, and I can even create a list in the description and convert them into subtasks – it’s so nifty! Once I’m all set, I can easily switch to Timeline view and then to Calendar view. This is so much better than the previous tools we've used, where I had to configure the dashboard or install third-party applications just to get the view I needed. The automation setup, where tasks automatically move to the Completed column, is also a nice touch!
What do you dislike about the product?
As a person who sweats the small stuff, I could probably say a very minor annoyance but not that I hate, is probably when I open the subtask window and I have no option to go back to the parent task window. Instead, I have to close the window altogether and go back to the parent task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In a project, no matter how big or small, a robust project management tool is imperative. Ensuring the project timelines are met, communication within the team and stakeholders are accounted, and a central hub for the source of truth are just few of the problems that Asana solved for us. One project that benefitted the most is during site migrations where a specific set of guidelines needs to be met. Right out of the bat, Asana provided an avenue for everyone to see the progress. Developers gets an asynchronous access to guides and information, and a minor task of summarizing the inbox is taken cared of by the AI.

Strong tool with a few limitations

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How responsive and fast it is, and easy to create and manage tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The file size limit is too small, number of team members allowed is also too small for what we are paying
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Let me collaborate with other team members in different department. Easy to keep track of tasks and follow up with the assignees on due dates and progress.

Asana: A Breath of Fresh Air for Project Management

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I absolutely love about Asana is its incredible ease of use. The intuitive interface makes it simple for anyone to jump in and get started, regardless of their technical expertise. The way Asana organizes teams and projects is fantastic, providing clarity and structure where there was chaos before. The dashboard and visuals are top-notch, offering a clear overview of progress and making it easy to spot potential roadblocks. Moving around within Asana is a breeze, the workflows are smooth and logical, which has been a huge time-saver. Asana has brought an unprecedented level of organization to our work, reducing stress and boosting productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be completely honest, it's hard to find much to dislike about Asana. If I had to pick one area, it would be that the more advanced reporting features can sometimes feel a little overwhelming for new users, but once you get the hang of it, they are incredibly useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is solving the problem of disorganized teamwork and project management, which benefits me by providing clarity, structure, and improved efficiency.
Asana is solving the problem of confusing workflows, which benefits me with smooth, logical navigation and time-saving features.
Asana is solving the issue of a lack of visual overview of projects, which benefits me by offering a clear dashboard and easy tracking of progress.

Asana

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tasks can be viewed in multiple formats: list, board, calendar, and timeline — which helps suit different work styles. Asana allows automation of repetitive tasks (like moving tasks when marked complete or assigning tasks when certain criteria are met). Asana integrates with apps like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Outlook, Zapier, and more, making it easy to embed into your existing workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
For smaller teams or simpler projects, the interface can feel cluttered or overly complex. Asana doesn’t offer built-in time tracking, which is a drawback for teams that want to monitor time spent on tasks without relying on third-party apps like Harvest or Clockify. If your internet goes out, there’s no robust offline functionality like some other tools offer (e.g., Trello’s mobile offline mode).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tasks for each close item (e.g., bank recs, journal entries, accruals) can be listed, assigned, and given due dates. You can see exactly who’s responsible for what and ensure nothing is overlooked during the close cycle.
