Recommendations to others considering the product:
quick setup, no overheads
Keep your projects moving forward and don't forget the details
What do you like best about the product?
Helps me keep track of the details for all of the many projects for my job. Syncs with an app on my phone to keep me doubly organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's designed for larger teams. Which is great except it's just me. The free level doesn't have all the features I want (i.e. templates and timelines) but I don't have a team either so I am paying for more than I am using.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My job is comprised of many different overlapping detail oriented projects that we cycle through annually (fall fundraiser, winter fundraiser, fall concert, spring concert, registration...) I use Asana to make sure I stay on track.
Basic project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Interface is user friendly. No need for lenghty tutorials on how to use this platform as it's very intuitive and straightforward.
Love the multiple functionalities like assigning tasks, calendar view, multiple commenters, etc.
Love the multiple functionalities like assigning tasks, calendar view, multiple commenters, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Notifications could improve, not sure if this is strictly related to the app version but sometimes I either don't get a notification or it gets lost with the others. That could improve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time management, project planning, assigning work to other team mates, keeping track of each individual's performance and plan tasks accordingly. Overall it's a great tool for the everyday user and small companies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This tool is very useful if you have a small company or want to organize your household. I would recommend for multiple projects and its ease of use.
Asana Review
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very helpful to track tasks and to see all tasks in one platform. Especially for Technology Companies that work Agile Asana is a great tool to schedule projects and to follow them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can not really say a feature that I do not like for Asana but as an idea, I could say that if Asana would be able to send notifications about past tasks or deadlines it would be great. For example, we have so many little tasks in a project which we might forget to remove even if they are completed already.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For cross-team works, Asana is working very well. We can create a project with other teams on Asana we all can follow the project online. This saves our time and makes it easier to work together.
Asana -not your average project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Love the ability to create ownership over tasks, reminders, and communication tools embedded in the tool, and the celebrations as you complete tasks on your project.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes can't find different resources that have been linked to the project. There are so many different places files and resources can be added that I think they sometimes get lost depending on who's working the project and their individual workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are implementing new clients using Asana. This allows us to ensure we are meeting key task and implementation milestones while also keeping the customer accountable for the tasks they need to complete themselves. Its also a great way for us to house resources for the project that the client can then refer back to indefinitely.
Definite help in accomplishing projects
What do you like best about the product?
I was a paper planner person until Asana. I loved checking things off my to-do list. But Asana allows me to do that and keep track of everything digitally. It has finally allowed me to move to a completely digital to-do list.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there was a bit of a learning curve as I hadn't found one of these online project management tools I enjoyed previously, but there were many features I could start using right away. The more complex project planning just took a bit of learning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working across teams is a lot easier with Asana, as well as tracking due dates. I am not a procrastinator, and it allows me a very easy way to follow up on the status of various projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for project management help that also offers calendaring and helps with working across or within teams, I would highly recommend Asana.
Much better experience when you have an agreed upon template that works for your whole group.
What do you like best about the product?
With Asana, the free version does allow for a lot of functionality when it comes to coordinating cross-departmental projects. I used it for a large project with a lengthy timeline, with multiple phases involving several departments. It did help keep track of how many days are left for certain stages, and it encouraged a bit of urgency in making sure everyone stuck to their own deadlines (without other people having to send prodding emails, as Asana does that for you).
What do you dislike about the product?
Everyone has their preferred way of laying out project goals and timelines. Some prefer a list format. Others (like me) prefer a card system similar to Trello's. I know some of my colleagues who prefer to work exclusively out of Google calendar for planning projects. But when you're invited to work on a project, the layout is set to the project manager's preference, and even if you change the format to how you like it, the setup doesn't always transfer in the most accurate or intuitive way. You're a bit at the mercy of everyone's individual preferences if you work with many different departments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping keep things organized when it comes to cross-departmental communication and organizing files and notes. However, it doesn't provide a more back-and-forth collaboration method. It's a bit like a virtual to-do list that's just pinned on my browser instead of the office whiteboard. I do like that it can be linked to Slack and that everyone can update things easily, get notifications for changes, and encourage accountability at all stages. However, it really depends a lot on the project manager having a setup that makes sense for everyone. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming instead of user-friendly and intuitive.
