Easy way to track projects and completion
What do you like best about the product?
Asana provides an easy way to keep track of projects. You can quickly identify who is part of a specific task, what projects are a priority, and see if any of them have a due date.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the board view, once you mark a task as completed, it's not as intuitive to identify how to get the task back. Usually, rather than using the "Mark Complete" option, I prefer to move a project to a "Done" or "Completed" column. This way, I can quickly refer back to it if needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of active projects and seeing what is coming on the pipeline.
Very robust for administrators, less so for users
What do you like best about the product?
I found Asana to be easy to use and easy to learn for new users. It has a lot of useful features for keeping track of projects and tasks within. I don't know of any corporate task management systems that are as good.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really dislike Asana's notification system, it needs to be more customizable because I feel like my options are all-or-nothing email notifications. I also don't like that they added a "homepage" so that now I have to navigate in the sidebar to see the My Tasks page, which is where I actually spend all my time. I wish that it was clearer when someone had included information within a subtask (it's currently just a small gray icon) because I've missed instructions before, thinking that all the subtasks were just titles and otherwise empty. I also wish that I had the ability to assign a task to more than one user, as a designer who sometimes does team projects with other designers where it's really not possible to split it among subtasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana for all our project management, tracking, and organization. It's also great for record keeping, the search function is good enough to be able to find old projects and keep a written record of what everyone said and did.
Asana is a great tool for Project/Task tracking, communications and follow-ups.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy Kanban Board layout. Easy navigation between Tabular and Kanban views.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not allow us to share the live calendar with Outlook. Gantt charts created are only for tasks, not for sub-tasks which defeats the whole purpose of the Timeline view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am doing my project tracking for the entire IT team. I also follow my tasks through Asana, which allows me to keep things more organized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to create a project plan with Gantt chart, this tool is not going to be helpful.
However, if your aim is to have overall visibility of your projects and collaborate within teams and also do cross-team communication, this tools is very flexible. Creating an excel like layout OR a kanban board is simply the matter of clicking a couple times.

Asana equals organized projects
What do you like best about the product?
Assigning tasks within a project is so helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's hard to track time for a task. I can tell how long a task sat undone but not how long it takes to complete.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to track individual tasks across multiple projects. It has saved time in managing internal staff for our project managers.
All things that require Project Management are centered around Asana for our Organization.
What do you like best about the product?
Asana gives us a centralized, collaborative workspace to task and track the important work that our programs require. It integrates nicely with our existing tech stack tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though we qualify for a non-profit discount for the licenses, the cost is still the main pain point of utilizing the tool. Other than that, we really enjoy the features and impact on workflow that it provides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The days of managing projects and communications in spreadsheets and chats are long gone once we implemented Asana for our organization. We improved communication, efficiency, and productivity thanks to our adoption of Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a non-profit organization considering Asana for Project Management, make sure to apply for their non-profit discount through Techshoup. It can help sweeten the deal and adoption for stakeholders. Utilize their community and academy resources for answers to common questions and best practices for implementation, onboarding, and daily use.
Asana makes the mountain scalable!
What do you like best about the product?
Asana's ease of use makes it accessible to almost anyone. The ability to toggle between views based on project type or style of consumption along with ability to stay agile makes Asana stand out from the rest.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't anything I dislike per say but I do wish that there was currently the ability to generate and assign tasks to various users/teams based upon form input values.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team size has been reduced but we have been able to keep pace, track and stage our workload without missing a beat. In turn we have kept on pace for end of year goals.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider what you need Asana for. It is not suitable for a ticketing system but good for "normal" project management. Look at alternatives as well, as there are many good project management tools out there and it has to feel right and be easily usable

What do you dislike about the product?
The desktop application is quite heavy on my machine, could be less resource-intensive, but then again, I am using a dual-core device, so nothing much to argue.

Great project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Asana ties in very effectively with Slack and Google Workplace providing great complementarity... as a project management tool, it has all the features I need to track activities, set milestones and assign resources. It is the combination of all these factors that make it my go-to project management tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting the alerts right and ensuring the tie-in alerts with Slack and Google are properly configured has been the biggest challenge. Some of the views are also hard to track but there are enough options to find the one you want.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this across the organization tracking both our projects and our organizational development goals. Asana allows us to now only assign tasks but to also include those providing inputs into the tasks and ways to communicate across the project team with its communication functions... I also like its fun features like visual awards when tasks are completed. The alerts allow us to flag when project activities are do so we can track where we are ahead or behind in the schedule. It also allows us to take a look at our work at the global level to see which project activities are occurring concurrently to see if we can get efficiencies of scale.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fully endorse the use of Asana
