Very Flexible and Intuitive Project Management Tool

  • June 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has all the bases covered for a project management tool. You can track projects at a high level, multiple projects across your organization, all the way down to tasks and subtasks. The portfolio view is useful for seeing high level details about an individual project while the project view lets you drill down as far as you need to go on a project. You can also use the update feature to automatically send out requests to different users for status updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
A premium subscription is required to maximize the utility of this software. Also, to get the most out of the workload feature, you need to be very granular in your planning and assigning of tasks. No support for adding vacation time as it relates to workload management (but there is an easy workaround for this). The forms feature isn't as flexible as I would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Asana to gain much more insight into our development team's workload and our software roadmap. We are also using Asana to track all of the feature requests of our different products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Much simpler to use than the alternatives and seem to be adding new features on a regular basis. Has the features of the big name project planning tools but in an easy to use interface.

Intuitive design helps you to manage your task simpler.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana's intuitive and elegant design allows the whole company to use it from day one. It is not difficult to see how you can handle Asana and how you can use the application. It is not difficult to see how you can handle Asana in the company of yours and the way to use the application. It's a really stylish and extremely powerful interface design. The ability to use lists and tables and to transition between the formats is quite helpful and this's just among the many customization options, so each end user is able to do what they like with I believe it may be customized.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features require more clicks compared to others, but this could be done by accidental deletion for instance. We realize this's a solution to make sure that it's not done. I delight in the point that the staff is continually working to enhance and refine the functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Asana, the whole office of yours can be incorporated with months or perhaps even months of different concurrent. It can make it very easy to concentrate on the project of yours. Correcting the improvement of the project and keeping all of the needed info in one place is an excellent way to save the time of ours. Asana isn't just an internal member of the company, but also a part of our externals and clients. It eliminates the friction of interacting with stakeholders.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana allows us to manage multiple projects in one place and also makes it easy for new organizations to Integration.

Coordinate teams and projects beautifully

  • June 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that asana is a flexible tool that is not pushing the user to a specific working methodology. Instead, asana allows the user to see and organise the information in different ways, making it a versatile option that will suite all kind of needs for different departments and industries in one single place.

Also, I love that asana gives managers a complete overview of what is going on inside the company and on each department, and gives employees a detailed view on their daily, weekly and monthly priorities so nothing falls into the cracks. Making progress tracking a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a big learning curve, which may frustrate some newbie users if they don´t have a consultant that can guide them on best practices and walk them through how to digitalise their processes into the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility. Asana is great to have the big picture of the company, department or team. This helps reducing duplicated tasks, unnecessary interactions, and quickly find the information you need to move forward with a task.

Productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you´re looking to unify all your tools into one place, asana is the way to go.

Easy to use task-management software

  • June 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has been great for our team allowing us to easily manage and distribute our work tasks. Custom fields allow us to move projects across form received to progress and completion while seeing our team's overall workload easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
We're looking into third-party software as it would be great to automatically upload tasks received within our website form, as it can be time-consuming to add every task received into our asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is helping our team manage tasks more effectively as a group, seeing how much workload is on and provides management an easy way to see how long tasks take to complete and level of workload

Failure to Innovate or Listen to its Customer Base

  • June 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The aesthetic of the UI is nice and it is fairly responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Features requested by the community are ignored for the most part. There are dozens upon dozens of basic requests to make the software more functional that the team at Asana has ignored for years (4+ years in many cases). Here are some examples:

• Lack of Markdown support.
• Inability to add subtasks to the timeline view (making scheduling impossible).
• Inability to add subtasks to the workload view (making resource planning impossible).
• Inability to assign multiple people to a single task (Asana says we don't need this).
• Inability to set different status levels for list vs board view.
• Inability to make task templates (only project templates)
• No built-in time tracking.
• No transparent roadmap — the engineering/product team keeps silent. Unlike other competitors that are quite open with their dev cycle.
• Cannot control who can/cannot delete tasks from projects.
• Inability to reverse the order of comments (newest comments require a lot of scrolling to get to)
• Inability to add custom fields to the "My tasks" view.
• No desktop application.
• Limited sorting/filtering options (no nested sorting for example).
• Limited to one form per project.
• Inability to mark sections complete (only tasks and subtasks).
• Subtasks are not automatically added to the project (in your reports view it will show them as belonging to "No project").
• Inability to hide weekends from the timeline view.
• Inability to drill down to the day level in the timeline view (inability to see hours in a day).
• No support for calculated fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
None currently — we keep trying to use it but we spend more time working on making it work than we do getting work done. We really want it to work but it's just not flexible enough to be satisfying yet. We're still using it though — we're sort of stuck with it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't get sucked into it. It's hard to leave, but not because it's great. There aren't many other alternative out there that are any better though. Clickup is the one tool that is capable of doing basically everything you may want but they suffer from some speed issues currently. Review their Feedback Forum and pay attention to the requests that are open as well as how long they have been open...if you're okay with a team that ignores its user base for years on end then this may be the tool for you.

Best PM software in the market!!!

  • June 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a great tool for project management at all levels. It helps integrate and coordinate communication flows between people, processes, and departments so that everyone knows what they are supposed to do.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that there are some things like subtasks that seem a little disorganized on list view
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly putting processes into a platform that is accessible by any stakeholder in the company. It gives people tasks and ownership.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at the help docs when doubts on implementing they have all the best use cases explained in high level of detail.

Asana is helpful but could be better

  • June 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a very user friendly UI, and you can get your team setup within minutes. There is no in-depth training required to be able to use the program, however there is a wide range of functionality that can be used to further optimise your teams performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once a task has been edited or a step completed there is a convoluted process to retrace the step. As an example if the step has been marked completed by the team member it is difficult for a team leader to mark that specific task back to "In process".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Asana whilst working for a news website and it allowed me to work on a few different article series at the same time and keep track of my progress on each article written within different departments.

Easy to use system to stay organized in tasks

  • June 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and clearly displays tasks that need to be done. Collobarotation with teammates is simple and it is helpful to have an area to leave comments or feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
If an item does not have a deadline set it is not difficult for it be hidden as it sits off the screen if you do not scroll down.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps stay on task and show you what other team members are working on so you can be proactive in helping them stay on time if you know they will need your help.
