The best project management tool I've used

  • September 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The free version is incredibly effective - which is extremely rare. The platform is intuitive and user friendly, and it's easy to get new users acclimated onto it.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are no features I dislike - the only obvious one being that I wish it was all free!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this to create project templates and we can "clone" projects to ensure all prior steps were followed during the project. This ensures consistency and that no steps were missed.

I'm not sure how to organize archived projects or print out detailed reports or document ROI per campaign or budgets
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I was working within small teams, it worked really well; made project organization easy and it took new users minutes to figure out.

Tricky to Learn but an Incredible Tool Once Mastered

  • September 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a great project management system. It is a helpful tool for working with a large team. Several different people can work on the same project seamlessly. It also is a great way to stay organized with several different documents or parts of a project. I even use Asana for my own tasks because I can set recurring reminders, and I enjoy the satisfaction of being able to check off a task once it is completed. I also enjoy all of the personalizations you are able to do to make it more fun, like changing the background and turning on "occasional celebrations" for a fun surprise when I complete a task.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana is a platform with many different functions and uses. It can take a while to get the hang of Asana, and I feel like I am still learning it. Several people on our team who don't use it as often get frustrated because it does take a lot of knowledge and know-how to navigate. I also find it difficult to locate previous projects on there often, especially if I wasn't a part of it and am trying to find it after it has been completed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to divide and track progress easily and in one place. We are also able to work with other departments, including giving and receiving feedback, without hosting meetings. This cuts down on the time it takes to actually complete a project and frees up our time with fewer meetings. We can also set deadlines and timelines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great tool, but be prepared to equip your team with resources and training to be able to use it effectively.

Project Management for Dummies

  • September 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are so many things that I like about Asana. The number one thing would be the ease of use. My entire team is able to manage tasks within one system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana doesn't integrate well with other tools like Salesforce, slack etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to solve any in-flight and post-flight client issues. The biggest benefits are being able to have a large team working on the same tasks without much confusion.

Flexible and Quick - Modern Design

  • September 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This software is flexible and quick! The free version includes several features and the new timeline makes it easy to manage dependent tasks. This tool helps me stop tasks from falling through the cracks... makes a project (or even a business) much easier to manage. When you work in a team setting this program allows you to color-code each person and task so it is easy to look at and not super confusing. It makes it easier to make sure someone never misses a deadline or assignment. I am able ot create templates for different tasks and parts of my workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
You are unable to switch between Task and Kanban project views once they are created... just a minor item but something you should know about if you use the software. The downside is having yet another software to manage... but as Asana grows and links to other softwares it will become more of a powerhouse in this project management system world.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is an incredible collaboration tool. It assists teams in managing several different tasks. It is a bit difficult to learn but take the time and get to know the software before giving up. It is very flexible and can be used for so many things!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is difficult to learn... but spend the time, complete the available trainings, utilize the support staff at Asana. This product is worth the effort that it takes to get started.

What do you like best about the product?
The custom labels available with the paid plans are a valuable addition for true business workflow productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Two basic in some ways. Their are temps at adding features like capacity planning are improving but still not there yet. Another one of our complaints is that we cannot switch back and forth between board and list view of tasks. You must pick when you set up a project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it as our core to do list management tool, although we have more specialized tools for other parts of our workflow.

What do you like best about the product?
What I LOVE is the ability for users to tag tasks, and then have a view of only those tags. I love that you can also add in projects which are essential isolated lists outside of the aggregate.
What do you dislike about the product?
That there isnt the ability to toggle between tile/calendar or task list.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project planning & to do. I think it does both EXCEPTIONALLY well.

Top list based task manager

  • September 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana allows you to build out tasks into lists and sub-lists, essentially endlessly. It's easy to assign to owners for each task, set deadlines, and create relationships between tasks. The features are full and robust; most things that you want and need in a task management system are there because Asana has been doing this for a long time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana is not as flexible as some of it's competitors. For example, a list based task management system is not the best for everyone, all the time. There are occasions where a more visual presentation may be helpful, and Asana doesn't really offer that, and isn't built for that. It's a specialized tool, and it specializes in lists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem is really basic...keeping track of what you need to do, and what your peers need to do. This can be achieved by a number of tools and systems ranging from the basic sticky notes or pen and paper list approach to a more robust tool like Asana. With Asana, you have the advantage of having everyone on your team share a collective pen and paper, making it easier for everyone to understand what is needed from them, and when.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If a list based system is all you and your peers need, go with Asana. It does one thing, and it does it better than any other tools I have tried. If you think you may need a more flexible or visual tool, this may not be the best route to take.
