Helpful, but somewhat tough to navigate

  • July 14, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
I like the to-do lists, the different projects, the employee profiles, and division in personal and business projects. The startup screen is fun. It's helpful as a small business to have the system as a whole.
What do you dislike about the product?
Consistency across platforms is lacking. I expect some variation, but I can really only use it from the desktop. The Android app basically functions like an electronic post-it note. There are no section headings, and all tasks get rather mashed together. Navigating between personal and business is difficult, and the layout is still a bit clunky. It's not clear where all of the things one was using have gone, and how to navigate back to them.
My boss uses Asana on her Mac, and has designed all of our workflow based on how it works on her computer. The rest of us have PCs and the ease of use and convenience just isn't there for us. It's a significant drawback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana mainly for workflow organization. We use it to keep track of client intake progress. This is very helpful, as our intake process is multifaceted, and can be quite lengthy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It helps to have everyone in your office on the same system. Asana's features are very Mac-friendly. Not so much for PC.

What do you like best about the product?
It makes collaborating easy and tasks nice and organized. I'm handle lots of projects and sometimes a simple management tool is better then a more complex one.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm never sure if my comments are read. I would love for there to be a notification that tells me when someone read and accepted my comments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborating with other people miles away and handling multiple projects simultaneously. There are many people involved with each project so I need a way to track it all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
it's a good, simple tool that makes project management easier. Make sure to watch the training videos and read the help forums so you can utilize this tool and get the most out of it.

What do you like best about the product?
Every task, no matter how simple or complex, in the running of a business is itemized and documented; one person is responsible for each task, and the structuring of projects and pipelines and subtasks is flexible to suit most business needs. The layout is clean, navigation is simple, and everything updates in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not well suited to very large organizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficiently assigning people responsibilities and holding them accountable.

    Information Technology and Services

Well designed and nimble for mid-complexity project management.

  • July 13, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Calendar management, and syncing of tasks into outlook reminders. We use this in a pod-fashion, and it works well for cross pollination across delivery, product management, and data teams. I love their start-quips, as well!
What do you dislike about the product?
Inability to link outlook emails into tasks in Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coordination across three disparate, though connected in service, teams. Each team has a set of deadlines that is key for delivery of our technology to clients, this allows us to pass the tasks along to the right party at the right time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be nimble. We used to use Asana in one way, and just made a massive shift to a new way - using the product in the way that is recommend is key. For example, we used to use our internal team as Projects, and tasks as individual sub projects. We just switched to using projects the right way, and it really helped the productivity. I am a sub, sub user - in that I don't interact with Asana very much, however the interface is VERY easy, and the more you are in it, the more you can do with it - so don't let one experience/failed attempt scare you off.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a lot more mentally organized being able to visually separate my projects
