What do you like best about the product?
That it closes quickly when exit. It is a black hole.
What do you dislike about the product?
Multichannel project tracking is a drag. Task serachablity is poor. It is useless for creative teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As far as I can tell there are no benefits to using asana.

Great Collaborative Tool

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are several features that make this tool wonderful to use but my favorite has to be the structure and flexibility offered in its task management. You can request a colleague to perform certain tasks or invite others to participate. You can also comment on your accomplished tasks and provide an update to the entire team that is involved. Updates are automatically sent to one another.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana has certainly come a long way. I have used Asana since 2010 or 2011 and there may have been a few minor flaws then but I have not experienced any trouble in my recent use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana solves several problems: remote collaboration, clear instructions & expectations, and punctual updates. Asana has helped our remote teams work together. This tool allowed us to share needs & requests without being directly next to each other. With that said, the instructions must be thorough but that is dependent on the user. So what I meant by clear instructions was that managers can simply focus on providing work instructions rather than sending tickets on programs like confluences. It cuts the fat of a process and helps us dive straight into the work. The last portion is updates. With remote work, it's always good to have a synchronized system that continually informs teams about latest progress and Asana does just that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's relatively easy to use. There are quite a few new elements that were not available in 2011 but it's not challenging to use. Just focus on what you need and there shouldn't be any trouble using the app.

Keeping Our Team on the Same Page

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can assign tasks to other teammates, flexible search for finding specific tasks quickly and that tasks can be linked with specific projects,
What do you dislike about the product?
I miss the feature of a previous Task App of being able to connect a task to a specific client business or individual in that business... would act something like have Sub-Projects. It would make it much easier to know what's next on the task list for certain area's of a project
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps us ensure the next steps for each of our clients are kept on track and keeps all of our work team on the same page
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a welcomed system to help keep your team on the same page. I really appreciated that ability.

Excellent Project Management Online Tool

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's great for on the go project management. Sometimes i lose my paper to-do lists and then I feel lost. But when everything is in Asana I know that I can pull it up from anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a little tricky to get started. It wasn't that user friendly for someone who isn't the most tech-savvy. It also took away from that "crossing things off my to do list" feeling. It's great for work projects, but I haven't switched to this in my personal life yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to work on projects together and assign each other pieces of it from not working from our desks. It keeps the team on track with items that need to be addressed in a timely manner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to really sit down and learn about the way it works best for your team. It's worth it to spend 1-2 days only exploring this tool because it can really benefit you in the long run.

Simple project management and task assignment software

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to see my upcoming tasks, and I receive emailed reminders and notifications when a task deadline is approaching or when I've been assigned a new task.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unlike Basecamp or Slack, you can't upload a document unless it's attached to as assigned task. This is not the place to store general team documents. I had a document I wanted to upload for a future task that wasn't fully fleshed out yet (i.e. not ready for assignment) but I couldn't do it in Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work as a communications and research specialist for a small business owner. All my work is done virtually, and Asana is an easy place for me to view my tasks and ask quick questions.

Excellent team management software.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes task assignment easy. I can enter a full battery of tasks for myself and my employees with very little time spend each day. It is also extremely easy to see what current tasks are assigned to each employee and therefore manage their productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app has usability issues. It does not provide the same ability to assign and reorganize tasks that the desktop (web app) version does. The mobile app is really only useful for assigning simple tasks and checking off done ones. Since my employees and I work entirely on desktop computers, however, this does not hamper our use of Asana very much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana makes it easy to assign both high-level objectives and minute instructions. The use of subtasks has been a HUGE leap forward in achieving my company goals. Working with others is simple—work out the large actions that need to be taken, then break those down into further and further subtasks that can be assigned to daily actions. The ability to create repeating tasks for everyday activities is also a huge boon.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make it clear to all users that task assignment is for EVERYONE. Yes, I can create EVERY subtask that needs to be done for my company. But it is much more efficient to assign broad tasks, then let my employees create the sub-tasks to achieve it. I can then review their plan and add tasks as necessary. And yes, I let my employees assign ME tasks if there are things they need from me as their boss.

Asana vs Jira vs Trello

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Because Asana is designed for raw efficiency - I love their keyboard shortcuts and macro implementations. It makes it intuitive and easy to create, read, update, and delete tasks. I have even seen co-workers use Asana in meetings to jot down notes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am aware that JIRA is geared towards software development where Asana is meant for a much broader audience - but as a developer - it would be nice if Asana could adopt a customization for custom data models similar the way JIRA does. Some of my freelance projects that have scaled quickly I have had to switch to JIRA.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For enterprise applications and in the corporate world I have used Trello and JIRA - but for my own personal free lance projects I tend to use Asana. Since inception, JIRA was designed for software teams, and in its marketing you can see that it mainly targets software builders, developers, or project managers working who are running software development cycles. In contrast, Trello has a much broader target audience, as it basically offers any kind of project tracking. The reason I choose Asana over Trello is that Asana is more focused on immediate efficiency and out of the box capability.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for the free trial and test it out! It doesn't even require credit card input (last I checked).

A better way to handle tasks and todo lists alone or in team

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to assign other users tasks with deadlines and be notified when these task are completed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Still using the free version of the product so I've no access to some of the premium features however it would be nice to be able to assign extra fields to each task (ex. time spent on the task, customer etc...). It would be pretty cool then to be able, for example, to filter the tasks by customer (at the moment we can do so using tags).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We organize most of the company projects workflow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We've tried many other similar products and Asana was the best fit for our needs. I would recommend SMB to give it a try.

Perfect tool to stay organized right out of the box

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Was super impressed with the ability to start using this tool from day one. We have been able to incorporate most operational sides of our business into asana. We even track weekly, monthly, quarterly goals through asana to create public accountability and performance tracking. Great solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was time tracking built right into the tasks. You can use some 3rd party apps, but they never quite seem to sync up 100% correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management. This is an obvious win with asana, but tracking goals, efficiency and project roadmaps has been a great value.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take advantage of the free version and run a project through there. It'll be worth your time.
