Asana is a Great Project Management Tool

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a clean interface, which is very nice. I also like the capability to add tasks that allows for descriptions to be added. Items can be cascaded to individuals such as projects or tasks and the capability to upload any sort of project steps such as PDF, JPEG, EPS works great for my business needs. We use it for a vendor at work that we communicate with daily and it helps keeps projects on time and in line.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the only thing that I dislike is that a chat feature isn't there, which would be nice to communicate with the vendors. Sometimes it would be nice to send quick notes via chat option. I think the large amount of notifications are also quite annoying, but that can be adjusted for email. Also, maybe some sort of calendar integration? I'm not sure, but I think the chat feature would be the most helpful. Similar to Salesforce's Chatter.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use a consultant for our graphic design needs and this tools allows me to communicate with this vendor without going back and forth over email. It allows us to share files and edit and keep track of our progress, which is ideal as the amount of work can and will grow over the coming months. I had used at a previous employer and it had been successful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
None.

Amazing collaboration tool for companies and freelancers

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Only when I moved to other collaboration and project management systems I realized that Asana was the one for me. My perfect features are multiple editing tasks, many projects, the calendar with details well designed since I have a small laptop screen and the subtasks.

Protip: Use ":" in front of a task to create a project subgroup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The e-mail notification system lacks interest, I can't point exactly where it could be improved but the notifications do not get my attention, maybe the presentation it gets on my inbox causes this effect. Other feature would be multiple task owners, even though I can add followers it's not clear who is the responsible of a task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm a freelancer who also sells digital goods with my girlfriend, so we have multiple projects and multiple purposes, from having a database of new ideas for a template to when the institutional site is due.

With asana, I track the delivery date, the tasks, the project calendar. And also the whole "company" calendar.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go to your "My Profile Settings", the tab Hacks have some useful or funny things to add!

Remote team members don't have to be on an island.

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I work away from my company's HQ, so Asana allows me to stay connected with my team no matter where I am. I also LOVE the calendar view because it helps me stay on top of my schedule.
What do you dislike about the product?
The occasional glitch and the fact that the app isn't the best. I don't like to waste time trying to tinker with bugs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping my VP updated so she ca have a general overview of what everyone is working on, what category the projects fall into, and what deadlines have been missed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate what your company really needs before choosing a management platform, like Asana. It works great for us because we have a team of less than 10 people. Not sure if it would work on a larger scale.

Asana helps me organize web design projects.

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Asana now offers project management tools in both list and tile formats. I personally prefer the list format. It's easy to see our progress at any given time. It also makes it super simple for me to quickly look at a project and see whether we're on track to finish on time and on-budget. Project management for website design projects can be a nightmare, but Asana really has helped me stay on top of my client work, and has helped my sanity!
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana's user interface can be a bit confusing at times. There are so many capabilities, and it can be challenging to discover what formats and configurations will work best for me. I assume after a while longer of experimenting with formats, I'll get a more concrete system down.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has helped me avoid overwhlem and disorganization in my largest client projects. I used to use Google spreadsheets for project management, and Asana gives me the same benefits, but with more capabilities. My working speed is much quicker now that I have Asana to automate some of my tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out the free version, and give yourself time to adjust to the format. There are also helpful blog articles with suggestions on how to organize projects, along with examples.

I love working with people through this.

Teamworking.

Asana is the best project management tool I've seen

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a dream, and I use it across my company for different teams: product development, customer acquisition, customer retention, customer support... the list goes on. I find it integrates well with other software tools, makes it easy to set up recurring tasks, allows for details within a project as well as good macro-level views.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only complaint is that it has a moderate learning curve, so that new hires have to take some time to get used to it. However, considering how feature rich this product is the learning curve isn't even that steep and the time spent getting used to the platform is well worth it. Also, this is not the tool we use for prioritizing projects, so the prioritization element becomes fragmented from the actual project which is managed within Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wow. Asana solves nearly all of our project management problems. Keeping track of daily to-dos, allowing us to put ideas up for a project in the future and table those thoughts without them getting lost, communication within teams about our projects... Asana does pretty much everything we need it to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a fantastic and feature rich project management tool that allows one to get down to the details without feeling overwhelmed.

Efficient Project Management

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I no longer have to worry about people being left off of emails or having to backtrack to find files or information. Everything is organized and displayed in an extremely intuitive way. Things that need to be seen by everyone can be, and things that need to be private can be so as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is very little I dislike with asana. The main issue I have had actually deals with people using it consistently. Once everyone in your office or on your team buys in, this makes everything so much easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me as a graphic designer, the main problems this has solved has to do with communication. I now have one central location for uploading comps and proofs without worry of forgetting to include someone on an email or items getting lost on a busy day. This puts communication all in one place which is extremely helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have multiple people on your team and you want to keep everything organized in one place, this product is for you.

Great for Task Management

  • December 20, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana keeps me on task with my own personal project items, and I can easily assign tasks to others involved in projects. I like that I can loop others in on one-off tasks and continue to update the progress knowing that they have access to see the updates as well. I also like the integrations with Google Calendar and Slack.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sub-tasks are clunky. I'd prefer the ability to expand/collapse sub tasks rather than having to move to another screen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organized project management across multiple teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For basic project management and task management this is pretty useful. You could integrate with Instagantt if you want Gantt charting capabilities. Asana also offers decent visual capability to see your task and project progress

Great for some, good enough for many, not enough for a few.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and device independence. Asana is good on the web, especially with the new workboard view. I've developed tracking for a lot of ideas using the standard card formats. Easy to assign to others in the group and to follow particular tasks. The number of extensions and plugins are impressive and there are many that really extend functionality like the Instagantt and Templana.
What do you dislike about the product?
Right now there seem to be some restrictions in switching between the board and the standard view. It's easy for a lot of things to get lost in the shuffle if you don't have consistent labeling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking of random ideas that come up during a product UAT process. Big benefits from the ability to add things on the fly and move them around.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The software is pretty flexible almost to the point of allowing too much freedom. One suggestion is to examine the training materials and see how others manage processes similar to your own. I wish I had paid more attention in the beginning as my workflow implementation is complicated and could have been smoother.

Asana is helping me to stay

  • December 16, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the intuitive way that Asana helps me to keep track of my tasks, projects and calendar. Not just for myself but for everyone on my team. It is more user friendly than any other project management service that I have used...and I've used several!
What do you dislike about the product?
There has been nothing that I've disliked so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, Asana is providing a fluid, quick and functional way of managing my ever changing and growing to do list. I can set reminders, create notes on projects and so much more...I have Asana open in my browser all day every day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Whether for personal use or group use I highly recommend Asana. I consider it to be the best task and project management system out there!
