Great Way to Keep Track of Tasks

  • October 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to see my tasks laid out for the week in calendar view.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the app had task reminders that pop up the way that google calendar does. There are ways to get around it using other apps but it would be nice if I didn't have to open another account with a different program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main business problem that I am solving with Asana is staying on task. I have realized that it is a great way for me to stay on task with the many projects that I have throughout the year. It is also a great tool for your team (co-workers) to see what you have on your plate as well so they know when they can make requests of you and when to expect solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want it to connect to your calendar or send notifications, be prepared to start an account with another software company.

Easy to use task management for teams

  • October 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very easy to use despite packing many great features. The app makes it easy to collaborate with your colleagues on tasks and projects. The boards feature is very useful for us as we use it to assign different columns to different stages of our project. This allows us to quickly know the status of the project. Asana's mobile apps also allow us to manage our projects quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana does not support switching between list and board layouts. While this is a minor inconvenience it would be great if different users could switch between layouts. This would allow our developers to use the board layout to match the Kanban style, while the managers could use the more traditional lists that they are more familiar with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has helped us manage our projects better by allowing us to know what each team member is working on. This has resulted in better communication within the team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend some time reading about the features of the product. Asana is very simple and easy to use and a lot of neat features are hidden away. Read their documentation, take time to set up your project, categories/tags and your board.

Task-Oriented Project Management Tool

  • October 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for working with multiple teams on different projects. You can add as many users as you need and sort out tasks by team. You can also generate tasks with deadlines.
What do you dislike about the product?
The email frequency is a bit high but you can use user preferences to manage them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working with a team that is decentralized and in different time zones, Asana has been useful for creating a place for convergence, idea sharing, and task management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not try to make use of all of the features, only use what you need to keep things simple.

Simple, yet effective

  • October 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is perfect for my organization since it incredibly intuitive to use and makes keeping track of deadlines easy. It's easy to attach files and keep things moving.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are times when email notifications are a bit wonky and don't come through. We've fixed that by just tagging each other in comments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Previously, it was pretty difficult for us to keep track of deadlines and the progress of different projects. This way, we can assign each other tasks as we know of them and can keep things moving. It helps us all stay accountable and productive.

Asana is incredible for repeatable tasks - thanks to templates

  • October 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the template feature. This allows me to take a series of tasks for something like blog posts that I can repeat for QA, and thoroughness.
What do you dislike about the product?
The boards feature isn't quite as good as some of the competition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consistency in Content Creation

Manage and organize your team's work.

  • October 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With Asana I can trace my projects and tasks in a simple way, be it a marketing campaign or a project launch, Asana allows me to create lists of objectives and tasks so that all their teams are up to date. You can also create activity plans, you have many options to share information of all kinds, whether files or documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana allows you to integrate third-party add-ons, but many of these are usually very expensive, their interface is updated however the first time you use it it will cost a bit of work to understand its functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me a lot to maintain communication with my team, with asana I can achieve my goals quickly and in this way I can meet the deadlines of projects and tasks at work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a tool that can be adapted to any work environment, you can organize everything you want, plus you will be in contact with your team in a very simple way and without using other software.

Project Tracking that Works, for Orgs, Teams, or Individuals

  • October 29, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the intuitive organization of the interface, the ability to add tasks and sub tasks, to have conversations about tasks and projects, to work with different workspaces, to check the progress on different goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't seem to jive with everyone's organization style. Though it works for me, some of my colleagues are simply baffled, so they don't collaborate well using the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Breakdown of complex projects, and tasks, prioritization and completion tracking.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Great transparency for the whole team

  • October 29, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that the entire team can lay out our projects and hold each other accountable while I'm able to segment my elements more on my personal board.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could put all of my boards on one Master Calendar.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With different hands at different places in projects, it was hard to see where everyone was and what roadblocks we were hitting. This was a way we could document our projects, keep everyone in the loop, and hold all of our necessary items in one place and not a million emails.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great platform and accomplishes many things in one. Before getting too far in the using process, make sure that you have your organization process laid out and train everyone on it. There are many ways to use this program but for company wide projects, you need to all be using it the same way.

    Security and Investigations

Great for project management - large or small!

  • October 29, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for individual project management or the entire departments project management. The view options are perfect, I prefer to see things as a calendar, while others on my team prefer the stickie note view. The tagging and tracking is fantastic, and the integration with Slack is my absolute favorite thing.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is more on the department and team, but there isn't really a clear format for tagging and naming conventions - things can get scattered and confusing very quickly. It helps to go in with clear directive and having one person or tiger team own the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The department is trying to track timing, task allocation, progress on projects etc. all while providing visibility across the team into what is upcoming and what the status is. All of things things have been realized and are benefits. We've tried using Jira and Basecamp in the past, and Asana really gives us everything that we need across the board.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've tried a few of these tools over the years, and Asana is the best one out there for our needs. Collaboration, project management, and visibility across departments.

Asana as an easy alternative to task management

  • October 29, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy of use, quick to learn.
Asana gives visibility to the pending tasks in a snap.
Helps control the pendings and prioritize the tasks.
The clean user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you don't organize your tasks properly, sometimes it is easy to loose or don't see pending tasks.
The hability for subtasks, although very powerful, can be confusing if the subtaks go too deep.
The editors are not "wisig".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Although we are using the free version, Asana has helped us a lot on:
1) Communication between teams.
2) Transparency on delegation and responsibility.
3) Due dates assignment (or reassignment).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
1) Decide beforehand the overall structure of project, subprojects, tasks and teams.
2) Don't go too deep using subtasking. Two levels is good, three levels max. No more!
3) The learning curve is short, but if you are migrating from another tool (as was our case, migrating from trello), Asana can be difficult to switch. In our case, people who use trello is much more visual, using "cards" and Asana is more of a list view.
