A real productivity app. Something we all need.
What do you like best about the product?
Features.
Asana supports many meaningful features that we all need. Sometimes I find myself learning something new from Asana that I never did before and it helps me manage my projects easier. For instance, for project dashboard, I learned there is a way to export the reported projects into Google Spreadsheet with charts. It took me 5 seconds to generate a useful report.
And I bet it's only getting better and better.

What do you dislike about the product?
Team Conversations should include some features to be able to add or tag projects and tasks in it. We currently use the name of the project with "" to make sure we understand each other but I've used Jira or some other task and project management tools that these features have been used for a long time.
Team Conversations feature should be good enough to avoid teams from using Asana.
Or have a smooth integration with Slack and stop developing the Team Conversation in Asana. (I'm aware of the current integration between Asana and Slack. But I don't find it that useful)

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management among matrix-organized teams.
I've used, Jira, RedBooth (even before the new name changed to RedBooth), Bootcamp, etc. Each one has its own interesting features. But for visualizing and managing TEAMWORK, I have found Asana to be more helpful for Marketing teams than any other platform. I know web developers and engineers tend to like Jira more, but for marketers, Jira is not as useful as Asana.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start using Asana's free version to see how easy it is to use. You can have a good grasp of the main things they offer. It's very convenient but I recommend you to give it a try. If you have a Gmail account you can easily start the free account (it's not even a trial, so you can have the free version forever).
Great for task management!
What do you like best about the product?
I love that tasks can have followers, you can assign only one person per task so they are held accountable, and the overall organization of the system, including teams, projects, tasks, subtasks, calendars, etc.
I also LOVE that you can import tasks via CSV. For those starting with Asana, check out this feature ASAP!

What do you dislike about the product?
I am very pleased with this product. I have seen that they are working on integrations with other apps, like Slack and Google Drive, which will just enhance the experience even more. I honestly don't have any complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task coordination for remote teams to ensure timely project completion.
People are looped in on projects so people can clearly understand their roles and hold each other accountable for project success.

If you have a very small budget this is an okay option
What do you like best about the product?
It's generally user-friendly and doesn't require watching multiple tutorial videos to figure out what to do like most PM software. We're on the free version, so we don't have access to full admin features. Still, the free version of Asana is fairly robust and has helped us consolidate and centralize project discussions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not crazy about having both a conversations tab and an area to make comments on each individual task. I am sure this is helpful for some teams, but it's been confusing for our team. We've set up each client as a "Team" and under that team are multiple tasks. Within each task, we'd love to go to one area where all of the back and forth and files live (similar to a Basecamp thread). Right now, we're just posting all project information and files in the conversations tab and making due with that. Also, it seems that once a task has been "Completed" the comments from that original task are archived and only accessible via the calendar tool. Maybe we're just slow, though, and aren't using it right.
Also, would really just love a standalone desktop app version of Asana as it's kinda cumbersome to check the website all the time. I'm personally relying on the app to give me fast notifications for whenever a PM posts something new, but there are still lags. For teams like ours, we need instant notifications (that aren't MORE emails) as we're handling dozens if not hundreds of individual projects across many clients. We tried AppSana and it is not useful.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have dozens of clients, so using Asana has really helped us centralize all (well, most) conversations about each client. It's made us realize we still have too many clients and no software will help us manage everything 100% efficiently :-)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the free version first obvs and experiment with how you set up clients. We ultimately decided to set up our individual clients as "teams" and add respective team members when appropriate.
Easy to use!
What do you like best about the product?
I love the visual interface, it's a really wonderfully designed tool. It's very easy to use and keep things organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
The project features aren't the most robust - I wish it were simpler to sort things on multiple boards and that there were a timeline view. We also do a lot of QA in our organization, and there isn't really a good way to move things through
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are an advertising agency and use Agile as an organization, Asana helps us visualize where things are in the process and assign points to tasks
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great task management tool, it's very easy to visualize tasks and customize project boards. I wish there were more views for people who are more outline oriented than graphically oriented
Asana quickly rising to the top
What do you like best about the product?
Their ability to work on desktop or mobile as well as their versatility to work with projects of any size
What do you dislike about the product?
Their isn't anything that I dislike. I think the Boards section could use a little more work but that is a newer feature
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's all about collaboration. Although we don't have it deploy enterprise wide we are testing it amongst some teams. It gives us the ability to have access to project information all in one solution. Instead of each member keeping notes or tracking info on their own we can all keep them in one place. As a manager you can just look and see where the project is at without having to reach out to the team member. It's cut down on phone calls or emails.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would love to see more dashboarding so I can have a holistic view of all projects as a manager.
Great with Adoption
What do you like best about the product?
We are still using the free version, but even so, it provides much of what we need, which is easy tracking of our own tasks as well as others' tasks, in a clear and clean way. The alerts keep you on track, the mobile app works well with the browser, and the design is clean. You can separate people out into teams, so you're only seeing what's relevant to you, and create long-term projects with relevant tasks so that everything is laid out in the right category. The reports give you a visualization of how well you and your team are staying on track. It's great for assigning tasks to others or just keeping others in the loop.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowing what's on each others' plates and seeing a calendar view of where we can either help each other out or assign work. It's all about awareness of each others' work loads and staying up to date on relevant information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out on a trial basis for a while to get the hang of it; it's a little abstract and confusing, so to encourage adoption by your coworkers, know the ins and outs so you can answer their questions and show them why it's beneficial to use.
Easy to Use
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very simple to use, making it easy to jump right in and get started on your first list! Building more onto your platform as you go is as simple as a few clicks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to be able to see the items that are on the list once they are checked off. If that is something you can do, I haven't found it in the settings yet. It would be helpful to see what is completed, as well as what's still remaining.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has helped me and my work team stay on track with our project deadlines with ease!
CanNOT say enough about the power of Asana.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of building projects and tasks while adding notation, dates, and updates! There is so much that I can say about the functionality and intuitive design that this software provides. Not only can I do everything from my app, but the look and feel from Web to app is seamless in design, Making for a pain-free process when trying to project manage. No one likes a clunky interface when they're trying to GSD.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it takes a few more clicks then I would like, and it can be a little bit confusing at first trying to decide where to add notes depending on what level you want the notation added; for example, if you want to add to that the task level or at the project level, you can do either or both, but to see those notes on the task level requires clicking on each task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have so much on my plate that this provides a relaxing flow and understanding of what needs to be done immediately, versus what can be put on a side or back burner or taken off the stove completely.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are plenty of Competitors out there, and you'll obviously want to make sure and weigh your options, however, I saw that has very good options for absolutely no price whatsoever, especially if you're a small business owner and don't have a large staff, or you are just project managing you and only you.
Using Asana for Project, Task, Team Collaboration in a Corporate Environment
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to add projects, set and track assigned tasks, use a shared calendar, and add attachments makes for a complete Project Management Software. It enables the whole team to know exactly what's going on in a project, who has completed their assignments and gives an at a glance view of the overall project.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sharing and security could be a little more granular. Some tasks and or edits made to the project or templates can be edited or removed by more collaborators than desired.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used it to track Projects ranging from Re-Branding, Website development, and Level 10 EOS Meetings to keep the department heads on task and in the know in every step of the project.
Everyone is kept up to date on every aspect of the task without needing and coordinating countless meetings.
Everyone is kept up to date on every aspect of the task without needing and coordinating countless meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it for its shared calendaring, additions of not only tasks but important file attachments to projects. Create custom templates/questionnaires. Use it's dashboard to see the status of the jobs at a glance and dive deeper into tasks to see assignments and statuses.
Useful tool for project management
What do you like best about the product?
It makes listing out the steps for a project easy, as you are able to create a project team, assign tasks to individuals and due dates. I also like that alerts you when someone on your team completed a task
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there are not as many capabilities on the mobile version. For example, you are unable to set a status update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used for project management - as I was leading projects, I could figure out how to keep a project on track/stick to a timeline. It also ensures everyone is on the same page regarding a project’s progress
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The version that you pay for is helpful because you are able to set up contingent tasks (eg if one person checks off a task, that notifies the person responsible for a contingent task that comes next that they could get started)
