Zoom for family time

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Many features, easy to use, able to connect with family.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost is a little much and I have the cheapest version other than the free version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't use this particular Zoom account for business. I use it for personal use, but it has helped me stay connected to family members that live far away.

An invaluable tool for my online business

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom has been a reliable application for my online business where I get to see and hear my coaching clients online no matter where I am. It has been a reliable and very effective way to communicate and do business.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only time I had an issue with Zoom was when I was doing an online music class and it did not allow for the music that I was playing to come through. I believe that this had something to do with settings. Other than that there haven't been any issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom allows me to communicate with my coaching clients in a clear, effective, reliable way. It has been easy to use and a vital tool for over 5 years now in my coaching business.

What do you like best about the product?
I love that zoom has digital backgrounds. My house is always messy and I love that I can hide that!
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it would be nice if Zoom offered a prompt asking you if you intend to record your meeting. That way you don't accidentally forget.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work with a team that lives across the united states. Zoom makes it easy for us to all connect!

ZOOM is simple enough for the least tech savvy

What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to schedule and run meetings with large groups of people, including those who struggle with technology.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish that billing/subscription was based on usage. We use our account for monthly board meetings that run long. Otherwise the account sits unused, but we have to pay extra due to the length of our meetings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have board members spread across a wide geography and need a way to organize and record meetings. Without it members would be driving for hours to meet, which just doesn't work.

Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom provides everyone with access. I most love that people like me with disabilities, those of us who might not be able to leave their homes for fear of contagion, can use zoom and work on zoom and be able to connect with others on zoom without putting ourselves at risk.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful part of zoom is the false idea that it is hard to use - this is not true! I started my company on zoom in 2019 and taught many people to use it. It isn't hard to use. It doesn't wear you out, especially if you hide yourself from view. AND it is the best way I know of to connect and work safely across continents!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I hope that one day soon Zoom will solve the problem of overlapping speech. I work in theatre, and it is wonderful to be able to hear new work on zoom. But zoom doesn't allow for overlapping speech. It would be amazing if there could be a way to set the sound to incorporate overlaps instead of jumping to the loudest box. Zoom has done amazing things with sound for musicians, and I think this is the key to helping with this rather niche issue of mine that would benefit all the people in the theatre industry who are working to create on the zoom platform.

Zoom

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and efficiency of the product. it is very easy to create a meeting from any platform. And the ability to integrate into calendar apps [like Calendly] make it even better.
What do you dislike about the product?
There should be symmetry across the various platforms. Fading the background should be the same or even better, any changes should be reflected in the next platform. I also wish there were a way to see previous meetings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom helps in allaying client fears of meeting. Zoom also makes it convenient for the client. I would revisit the time frame allotted for free accounts...I was in a meeting which cut off at the 40 minute mark but the customer had upgraded his account...suffice to say he was not happy that it took another 15-20 to get people back in the Zoom.

Solid Platform!

What do you like best about the product?
From an admin's perspective - Zoom is amazing! Love that our team can be managed one place, even if some members don't have a paid account. There are a ton of awesome organization tools for admins that we haven't had a chance to use yet. We've recently set up some Zoom Rooms as well - they have been a massive hit!! Love how easy it is to use and once we got things connected, playing with all the setup options was fun. Also love breakout rooms!! And annotations :)
What do you dislike about the product?
It's sometimes tricky to share host permissions on the fly and we occasionally run into issues when the original host of a meeting is running late or cannot attend the meeting. I also wish there was a way/place to quick to quickly grab a link to the meeting once it has already started.

OH! And the "you're logged out" popups that come up when I switch from my desktop to laptop drive me crazy. :)

Maybe it's because I used it first, but I still prefer the UI for Google's chat platform - and the ability to see a preview of what's being captured on camera before hopping into (or hosting) a call.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom Rooms are HUGE - they make it MUCH easier for in-person teams to meet without giving up precious screen bandwidth to see the other attendees. And as one of (possibly the?) leading name in meeting platforms, Zoom has been the most consistently trusted (and understood) platform by our customers for remote meetings. (We've tried others like Google Meet and HiFive)

What do you like best about the product?
I use Zoom to teach safe boating classes to the public, to manage moderate sized-meetings up to about 30 and to have face-to-face chats with fellow instructors. I love the freedom that I have to call a meeting anytime and to see the other person/people in a comfortable setting. In our classes, we ask the students to leave their camera and mic on so they can interrupt us at any time. They love that feature, and not only take advantage, but sent thank-you notes when the class is over. Finally, I think the recording ability is a great feature. Instructors can see "how they did" and it gives us a file for our secretary to grab the minutes and for me a contemporary recall of what was promised (or not).
What do you dislike about the product?
I still have students and co-workers who have mic fright or are camera shy. I can't dissuade them from that concern. I have conquered the rickety computer microphone with a SURE unit that makes my voice boom--and I like that part. I still have issues with color, sometimes my face is orange, and then "pops" and turns back into flesh color. I have no idea how that happens, but it does happen when I least expect it, and students comment on it as well. I would like it if Zoom contacted me to let me know I am storing recordings for too long, and give me a chance or suggest that I erase them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom got me through the pandemic and helped me build my business. I used to teach in the classroom of my Florida location, and would have 12 to 16 students in a class which was offered about 4 times a year. More frequent classes than that simply didn't work. But as soon as we started to teach on-line on Zoom we picked up students from all over the country. Now my classes are about 25% locals and 75% students from hundreds, even thousands of miles away. It's not unusual to have Hawaiians and Alaskans and people from anywhere in between.

Zoom is absolutely the best video conferencing software I have ever used!

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to control audio precisely so people can hear me play my guitar and mandolin is absolutely VITAL. I love these pro audio features and think every music teacher would benefit from them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be a bit confusing at times, but that is the risk of having such a comprehensive set of controls. I have definitely started a webinar with the chat disabled or my panelists' audio muted and it took quite a while to figure out what was going on. That made me look a bit unprofessional in the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I conduct a lot of online music classes and workshops and Zoom makes my work so much easier than its competitors. Being able to run a live workshop with hundreds of participants who can see and hear me clearly is essential, but the added benefits of Q&A, chat, and functions like hand-raising, etc. are amazing. Wouldn't trade my Zoom membership for anything at this point!

What do you like best about the product?
Screen sharing. Being able to show slides or work done, especially live is most helpful and at the top of my list. This zoom is meant for our bible study but I have used to be able to work on a funeral program with family members abroad (Samoa and in the states) and we came together to work on the program. They saw me working on my desktop and my family was able to give feedback. My family members were telling me what to take off and what to put on and it was so easy. So when we all got together at the funeral and saw the final product, it was so rewarding to know that we did it together as a family. Saving us time, and money while getting the work done from the comforts of our own homes. Thank you Zoom.

I would also like to note, that as a church family, we have cell groups (aka bible study groups) that all have their own zoom as well as the ministry having its own zoom to accommodate more people. Zoom has been a very important part of our ministry so I would be answering for both my own and my church's zoom accounts. Mahalo!
What do you dislike about the product?
Being cut off (connectivity issues) that may or may not be associated with Zoom, the (what I call) "transformer voice over" - where the speaker sounds distorted, and having random people jump on our calls uninvited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not too sure to be honest. But I guess I can say from when I first started using zoom versus now, connectivity is much more solid. One big thing was the security also, since the one 'moment' of "hackers" jumping on people's lines was an issue, I find that it hasn't happened since Zoom addressed and made things more secure. Thank you Zoom.
