In a sea of virtual options, Zoom is the best!

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
After using Webex, BlueJeans, Google Meet, and Teams, I can say that Zoom is the best option. It is always reliable, minimal lagging, and has the best features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price - I wish paid accounts were cheaper. Especially for annual users! Would love to see innovativion and uniqueness of presentation features improve too!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Zoom for person reasons for teaching fitness classes, meeting with friends and family, doing screen recordings, etc. and for teaching adult learning classes because of the ease of use and breakout room/adult learning engagement tools.

What do you like best about the product?
Using zoom has helped with giving more flexibility to my clients. I can use virtual appointments to serve my clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are connection issues and occasionally there are delays in my clients getting invitations to meetings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
During the shut down relating to the pandemic, Zoom allowed me to offer virtual meetings to clients who were interested so that I could continue to serve clients and generate revenue for my business. Now I am trying to expand my services to keep offering virtual appointments as well as in-person to reach a broader client base.

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Zoom is that it helps you connect with anyone with an internet signal/mobile data. I really like that you can record meetings for future reference.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes Zoom takes a while to load, which can be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom helps foster collaboration better than a standard phone call would. It also helps to create a record of important conversations.

Zoom Meetings for Connections

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I love about zoom is the ease of using it. One can use it on a computer, tablet or phone. The service allows one to stay in touch with business associates and friends/family anywhere. Furthermore, the apps supplied to use with Zoom help immensely. One can transcribe the meeting and record it by using app Fathom. Moreover. using the share screen button allows one to show what they are discussing to others. Also, the white screen allows all members if need be to draw or write notes for all to see. Zoom can be accessed either by screen usage or a person can call in and listen. Live caption is one of the major assets for those persons who are hard of hearing or deaf. Complies with ADA.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, I cannot think of anything I dislike about Zoom. It's easy to use. The only inconvenience would be having a passcode. But sometimes one needs a passcode for security. The problem usually involves the person's ability with technology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom solves the problem of meetings with all necessary individuals. Every person needed can participate from wherever they are either by video or phone. This reduces travel time and expenses. Plus, makes virtual meetings accessible to all and is compliant to ADA.

High Quality Video with a Minimum of Setup

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom really is the best among its peers -- Cisco Webex, Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, and Google video. Zoom doesn't have much of a learning curve for most people to be able to join a meeting and participate in it. Yes, you have to install software, but the one-click to install and launch into a meeting is really nice compared to Webex and GoToMeeting have an obnoxious number of questions you have to answer to join a meeting.

The video quality of Zoom is also the best of what I've seen across the other options. Zoom can weather very resource-constrained machines and low-bandwidth connections better than its peers, rarely pixelating the video feed or dropping out on audio. In contrast, solutions like Google Video and GoToMeeting that can work in the browser without software tend to be affected significantly by hiccups in the connection. Browser-based competitors can also be affected by browser extensions that prevent the auto-play of videos or block the loading of ads.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that Zoom didn't have to be running all the time on my machine; just like Webex and BlueJeans, it stays running in the background even if you're not logged in. If you connect to a private network that doesn't allow public internet access, Zoom is constantly popping up messages to let you know it can't reach Zoom instead of just staying quiet.

Zoom's UI also always feels like it's in the way, even if you have two monitors. There are times when I want the Zoom gallery of users to be always on top in a picture-in-picture mode, but it will only do that if you minimize it, and it will only show you the person who's currently talking. When presenting, most of the time I want the UI to be docked on the left or right side of the screen (like with GoToMeeting) but instead, it wants to dock at the top or bottom, putting it in the way nearly 100% of the time (since you're either trying to interact with title bars of applications or the Windows taskbar). I also find it difficult to locate the UI options I am looking for when presenting since the UI layout is fundamentally different in that mode than it is when I am not presenting.

On Mac OS, I wish that Zoom made it easier for IT admins to grant it the necessary access to the microphone, camera, and screen recording. We frequently have to touch every Mac OS machine to grant these permissions even though Zoom is managed by MDM. I suspect this is more a problem on Apple's side than Zoom's, but the documentation on deployment could be a lot clearer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom makes it easy for users who are not tech savvy to participate in meetings remotely. We find that it is much easier for both non-technical and technical users to join Zoom meetings than with Microsoft Teams, even though we subscribe to Microsoft 365 Premium, which includes Teams.
