Confluence review

  • July 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence allows you to build your projects out with some ability to collaborate with your team during the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence is not user-friendly and was hard to learn. I have accidentally deleted multiple project plans. It has been 1-2 years using the tool, and I am still not familiar. Hard to undo changes made, and you have to use a keyboard shortcut.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence helps me build out my projects and be aware of deadlines.

Excellent collaboration tool from Atlassian

  • July 21, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Confluence is organizing project information into Spaces and Page trees. Easier to create content that is accessible by the whole team in seconds. The access level restrictions help us control who can view and edit your page before it's live or published. Integration with Jira and other Atlassian products is always a plus for the Atlassian community. I can easily manage all my product requirements, standard operating procedures, etc., with ease, and collaboration is simple and flexible.
What do you dislike about the product?
The availability of more business templates for use by various teams across the organization should improve. Considering the current functionality of adding dynamic content to the pages is ok concerning basic organization needs, Atlassian should enhance this feature within confluence pages. Nothing else from the improvement standpoint as the tool is marvelous.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I track all my product requirements in the Confluence tool then share them with various business teams to review and comment. We also draft all the standard operating procedures, support manuals in confluence for the benefit of multiple stakeholders across the organization. Collaboration across various business and technology teams is so easy and seamless.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence is one of the best collaboration tools in the market. If your company is thinking of switching to the Atlassian suite, Confluence is worth having in your technology stack. I recommend Confluence for almost all sized organizations to improve collaboration and reduce documentation efforts.

Best documentation tool

  • July 17, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The formatting tool and the macro together work like a charm. In addition the support of JIRA makes it awesome. Some things that I really like
1. Great formatting tools
2. Version history
3. Create URL for headings
4. Add Macro's (there are some brilliant Macro's provided), the best one is heirarchy
5. Use JQL (Jira Query Language) on the page itself.
6. Use plugins like Asana, FIGMA etc.
7. Create template that can be used by the team
8. N level sub-pages
9. Permissons of spaces
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite being the perfect tool there are some flaws of the product
1. It is laggy, sometimes super laggy.
2. Sometimes I cannot save/publish pages for reason that Confluence says "no internet"
3. Sometimes (1 in 100), the pages I try to say do not get saved.
4. The export to PDF does not have great formatting
5. It is missing an important feature of "suggesting" that we have in Google Docs.
6. Better use of URLs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem we are trying to solve with Confluence is creating all sorts of documentations. What I have created using Confluence
1. Frequently asked questions
2. Product Requirement Documentation (PRD)
3. Technical Documentation
4. User Stories
5. Business Requirement Documentation (BRD)
6. Knowledge articles
7. User Persona
8. Functional Requirement Documentation (FRD)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it if documentation is an important part of your organisation.

Confluence on an Enterprise Level

  • July 15, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a great social sharing software platform across the enterprise. It also integrates with JIRA which is great because you can denote tasks to the Development team and include a JIRA number associated with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not as easy to develop. There are YouTube videos about an hour long that can explain the process, which is what I would recommend doing. Confluence Sales team acually provide these YouTube videos so anyone can search for it, unless YouTube IP address is blocked at the entity level.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing Project ideas, JIRA tickets across the organization and be able to direct each item to select individuals or Groups. Sharing of documents is a great feture because it provides document revision history.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure your organization has gone through confluence training as it is very easy to delete content if you have permissions. Security and Permission is a factor when adding people or groups to the Confluence project.

Pretty reliable collaboration with lots of useful extensions

  • July 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are lots of useful extensions. Popular file formats like Ppt, Xls, Doc, Pdf are supported very well and can be previewed live without downloading.
What do you dislike about the product?
The table features are not very user-friendly. You can do lots of cool things with them, but something like an embedded excel spreadsheet with formula support would be much better than those complex macros currently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tons of problems. From technical specifications, user manuals, how-tos to internal notes. It's very convenient to collaborate with others on Confluence. You can highlight some words to leave an inline comment to give your opinion on those words. The history tracking is also excellent. You can quickly see previous revisions of a document, compare them with each other, and see who changed what.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a good collaboration tool, the type of easy to learn, hard to master. There are advanced features that definitely could be better.

It's pretty good

  • July 13, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our organization has adopted Confluence fully, so anything I publish there will be easy to share
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence Server (which we use) lacks some of the rich page formatting available in the Cloud version. It also requires VPN access, which can be difficult from certain locations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I document ideas, project specifications, design decisions, and career growth plans. The biggest benefit is that I can share things with others in the organization and they have guaranteed, immediate access. I also like the multi-editor mode they introduced a while back - it made Confluence more of a collaborative tool for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't expect it to provide all the features of a more database-like product like Notion. Confluence is page-based, and provides basic ways to organize content in hierarchies but nothing too complex.

Best tool for collaboration and workflow management.

  • July 13, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is the best tool for collaboration and workflow management. I am using it for last 5-6 years.
These are the feature I like most.
1. Maintaining project/product documentation version-wise and ease to access.
2. Multiple in-built design templates, handy for maintaining a pattern for all similar types of document say for example the same style can be used for all "Technical design" documentation.
3. Integration or connectivity with jira is fantastic to capture day-to-day scrum activity and retrospective details efficiently.
4.It can be used as an end-to-end project management tool, and transparency of any activity can be modulated by increasing its visibility.
5.For senior management it is a very useful tool to track progress of individual scrum team.
6. I like the page-tree of it as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing much I dislike about this product, few of the things can be improved like below:
1. text editor, sometimes formatting a pasted code is very tedious.
2. copy-pasting Giffy diagram sometimes causes a data loss in the actual diagram.
3. Can have a message prompt saying "do you want to notify all watchers ?Yes or No". Sometimes we receive unnecessary email from some unwanted changes by someone.
4. Data loss if multiple people access and modifying the same page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
End-to-end project management light-weight tool best for fast paced agile team.
Benefits I already mentioned in the prior section.

Collaboration platform for teams

  • July 12, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence does not feature a complicated menu system or excessively complicated windows. When it comes to specific points, sections, designs, and other aspects of our documents, I like working with the team. My organization dramatically benefits from customizable templates for meeting agendas, business plans, press releases, and emails. An essential feature of Confluence is connecting it to other platforms, like Jira and Trello.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a difference between a co-op and individual work when it comes to the interface stability
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool allows you to easily create multiple files, which can help you keep a record of documents you have previously written, as well as allow you to access them from any location.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great if your team needs to collaborate more and document more.
