Confluence is a great team sharing platform.

What do you like best about the product?
Version control allows you to see who made changes to a document and when.
Confluence integrates with Jira.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially difficult to use, but gets better as you progress.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration. We keep project documentation as a living document. saving many trees and useless rewrites.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore all the features when you first start. It will make things easier as you go along.

Not my favourite method of creating documentation

  • August 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Everyone being able to create and edit content.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the primitive text formatting capabilities. This may suit some people but for me it is missing some vital features.

We have the cloud version and in recent times some features have been removed and replaced with other features, which has proved problematic. To get around this I am now using a plug in that allows me to display MS office 365 documents within a confluence page.

So what are the issues that annoy me so much?

Indenting is very basic and does not work when combined with lists. This annoyance surfaces when I want to add an indent in front of numbered or bulleted sections of text. It seems you have to have the list blocked against the margin.

I am not able to add alt text to images. This is essential for accessibility purposes.

Finally my biggest bugbear is the removal of special characters and replacing them with emojis. When I asked about this, I was told to type the special character in Word and copy paste to confluence. Really?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Personally, none, however, I am able to collaborate with colleagues working on text within confluence. The drawback is that I always end up moving anything customer facing into another system to prepare it for publication or I use the plugin to add a view of the word document into Confluence.

For the company, it hosts a lot of documentation. It is easy for people to share and the search has improved since I started using it. The main benefit is that it is very easy to use so my colleagues are happy to contribute.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your documentation is for internal purposes and you need everyone to use it, then confluence is an easy to use solution. However I would not recommend it for customer facing work as you are unable to meet the W3C recommendations on accessibility.

Confluence Review

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integration with existing platforms and the ability to have all info in one environment
What do you dislike about the product?
At first, I had to watch a tutorial because data locations and interface is not as intuitive. But this was a relatively quick process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to have thick binders filled with information. Once we were able to incorporate confluence, our customer service improved and our productivity increased.

Confluence for Documentation

  • August 11, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The feature that I like is the "Table of Content". The setting is advanced which we can set the minimum and maximum heading level.
What do you dislike about the product?
The feature that I want Confluence to improve is the "Table Options". Currently, adjusting or fixing the table width and height is not really nice and flexible. There should have advanced or custom settings to adjust the column width and row height.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using confluence to document the processes, flowcharts and implementation methodologies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be afraid to use the "Macro" widgets. These are really efficient tools for your documentation.

Confluence is a Must for knowledge driven projects

  • August 11, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you need a collabortive space for knowledge management; that is confluence.
If you need a content management tool; that is confluence.
If you need a project progress management platform; that is confluence.
What do you dislike about the product?
Addon ecosystem is both a benefit and handicap for confluence. There is an addon for any need; however, it is always expensive. For a single drawing in a whole project, I need a single addon for single use. There is one! Nice! but I need to purchase it. For 1 graph? Not sure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For a team not working in the same location, we are using confluence as a wiki for collecting knowledge, managing projects, interacting with teammates on ideas. We are not only managing existing projects or our ongoing daily routines but also potential projects or crazy ideas.

Lots of spaces for lots of new ideas!
When you get new brilliant idea on your holiday:
1- Login to confluence,
2- Create a Project named as "BrilliantIdea"
3- Create a page as "Behind the scenes"
4- just write all the brain boggling things on the page.
5- let it go for a while. Then take a coffee and create a project database design (an addon)
6- create data life cycle diagram (another addon)
7- make mockups for UI/UX (another addon!!)
8- share with teammates for new ideas !
9- Have a nice day with your new brilliant solution!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you planning to use confluence, please be sure of the addon needs of your organization. sometimes, addons may be more expensive than confluence.

Project management tool to manage projects

  • August 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a cloud based tool, so anything which gets edited , gets automatically saved and can be viewed by other team members. Tagging feature in a card is a very efficient feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
The User Interface is not sleek and user friendly . The organisation of cards using drag-drop is not present. The integration of Ms-excel is not upto the mark, and the storage capacity is not enough for large team members for lower level plans.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, sharing documents/excel sheets among team members to speed up the project development in an organised manner.

A Great Integration Platform

  • August 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like to see all my colleagues edit online and to be saved automatically. The vast number of templates it has, has outstanding designs and is well structured to coordinate and boost the team's productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a little difficult to get acquainted with the program at the beginning, and it can be a little slow, not fluid, and looking for a specific job is not quick. Nor, I like it, I can't integrate it with other programs like Office 365 or download PDFs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our marketing team has been able to share workflows, models and meeting schedules, but keeping track of tasks is the best. Now the members of our team can view every team's project details and see their individual tasks and review them when they are done. All the feedback from my colleagues in the different projects has helped me to make decisions when I want, but in addition to analyzing projects I also use it to deposit all my ideas.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a scalable solution for confidential notes, knowledge, or a general memo location, then Confluence is a great system. Valuable information is difficult to access easily with larger companies, and Confluence helps that information to be readily accessible to everyone who needs it, regardless of role.

Confluence review

  • August 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that it is easy to see and be able to add macros and extras in order to truly adapt our workplaces. I also like the fact is different people in each of the different workplaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to make the layout more comfortable and aesthetic. Something cleaner than the layout and I'd get 10/10!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing all documents related to our projects in a consolidated space and using this tool to communicate with the community.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool for projects, but make sure to " promote" your final document in the right format (like Word and pdf). We keep everything in Confluence, so sometimes it's difficult to say which is definitive and which is not.

Great documentation platform

  • August 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence provides you a number of features to use and improve your day to day activities. It's integration with JIRA and other softwares make it an amazing choice.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product if hosted on premises would be an issue when you try to do heavy work on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for team communication for architectural design and roadmaps.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will enjoy absolutely everything about this product.

    Jose P.

It has great tools and abilities but falls short for holding knowledge.

  • July 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has awesome tools to organize and best use your pages. You can create teams and tag people and create blocks and everything to really keep your organizations information in an easy digestible manner. It also allows for comments and it allows you let your users know when there have been changes made which can be really nice and helpful so that you don't have to go chasing everybody down to know the information. Being able to favorite things is also helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't have a review feature and so information can go stale and be outdated. It can be hard to have buy in from an entire organization and therefore lead to bad hierarchy and structure, which leads it to become really difficult to find the information you're looking for. Any person with a certain level of access can also create their own directories and so again if there isn't high level structure that is agreed upon from the top->down then it can get messy and cluttered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With confluence, we were trying to get all of our teams knowledge and information into a central repository. It proved beneficial as a start so that there wasn't individual knowledge missing but we had a collective group and collective input, unfortunately, it also didn't 100% succeed due to some missing accountability features.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for somewhere to throw your knowledge without holding anybody accountable to maintaining the knowledge or if its evergreen knowledge that won't change often, then this is a great place to put it. Unfortunately, they seem to lack really making their software hold teams accountable which, as every knowledge manager knows, if the key to have a successful implementation and a high adoption rate.
