Confluence: Data Repository System

  • March 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is an amazing platform to create, design, and maintain content. In big enterprises, it is a boon to collect artifacts. It helps support the team in the long run to manage its operations. Documents get created during the project cycle and stored in Confluence are the lifesaver during application usage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though page creation is easy in Confluence, however, it is hard to upload already created documents. there is no provision for the already created documents, the user has to create documents in Confluence which results in time-consuming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Once your documents are shipped and loaded in COnfluence and other new documents are started to be uploaded in Confluence, it can do wonders to your enterprise. As I have seen, it is easy to search for relevant
documents due to the dynamic search feature.
Secondly, the audit feature enables the secured method to update the documents.
Overall, it is the future of file repository and in one way or other companies have to adopt the product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence can help in the data repository which helps in the long run. Secondly, JIRA, CARA, and other tools can be integrated with this platform which acts as a single point for the data repository. Overall, it can replace SharePoint in the workplace.

An excellent documentation service that has saved me on many occasions

  • March 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My coworker and I use confluence extensively to document all of the work that we perform. As IT staff many issues that we come across will be repeated ad-infinitum. As such to simply be able to look up the fix from any location
What do you dislike about the product?
The only minor issue I have discovered with confluence is that when creating new documents setting the location is not as smooth as I would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IT documentation and collaboration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence has a lot of great features. The main Issue with Wiki Systems often is they work great in the beginning and later become bogged down with badly maintained content or just forgotten structures. The search for the wiki still is not perfect.

Not as user friendly as newer alternatives, but scales well and Jira integration is powerful

  • March 21, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The templating is very powerful and it can be leveraged to easily manage repetitive processes. Realtime editing works well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Commenting functionality is hard to find and not as intuitive as Google docs. Can be slightly harder to use for less technical users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence has provided a single repository for documentation around development efforts and product features. It makes it easy to keep things organized rather than having documents spread throughout different google drive accounts.

Confluence for Internal Documentation

  • March 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to create pages and adding widgets to make documentation much easier. Although it looks plain, it is consistent for documenting and collaborating with other teams. It also has a mobile app, but only new versions of Confluence are supported.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't like the limited tools to format text, tables, colors, etc. But I think this might be a good thing for users who try to make creative designs and bulky-looking pages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to put our internal documentation on Microsoft Word documents, then moved them to Google Docs. Eventually, we had so much information that it made more sense to create and internal website. Classic Google Sites was the next move and it worked out for a while. However, with Classic Google Sites going away and the New Google Site not to parity, Confluence was the answer to put all of our internal documentation in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence is not for websites. We could have easily created a Wordpress site and give everyone access to create pages and edits, but Confluence gives you the basics to get your documentation centralized.

Wiki content-sharing experience

  • March 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A secure wiki-style document sharing platform
What do you dislike about the product?
It's isolated and does not appear to have an option to download an icon for easy desktop access
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This solves the need for a wiki site to poste relevant business documents
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create a link to a Confluence enterprise master page for easy access by staff through bookmarking.
