We also use it for agendas and meeting notes (when 1 person makes the notes).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've been using Confluence at two different companies over the span of 5 years, and I can definitely tell it's gotten better in terms of design and usability.
Great collaboration and sharing tool
What do you like best about the product?
That information can be stored and edited real time. It is user friendly, easy to navigate and very applicable to all orgs. Easy to communicate across various orgs and make real time changes and dashboards analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be hard to use the search feature and look for specific docs on the board.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge and content development, resource building and collaboration. Building analytical reports.
Simply presented document sharing across teams and departments
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Confluence is a secure way to share a ton of information not only between members of my team but across all departments. I mainly focus on documentation relating to technical support and Confluence has been a "one stop shop" of sorts when I need to find or update internal documentation. I like the Personal Spaces as a little area to have some fun with and also like the ease of use overall.
What do you dislike about the product?
The design itself doesn't lend well in any way towards customization of pages and the wiki-type input can be a bit of a learning curve if you aren't familiar with Wiki's editing options. The lack of customization could be a good thing if you're looking for something minimal and consistent but if you are more on the side of designing diverse pages then Confluence's options in that area will leave you wanting. One other thing that's a bit annoying is the "notify watchers" box is checked by default so you must keep an eye on that and be sure you actually want to send your sometimes very minor update to a whole slew of people. Search could use some work as it doesn't always seem as accurate as I'd expect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Confluence to keep up with documentation coming from various teams and departments as well as my own team's information. I use it every day and it's an invaluable tool for reference and knowledge. We've been able to create our own repository that's easily accessible, all in one place. I don't have to go schlepping through web pages since the information I need is compiled all within Confluence. It also pairs with JIRA, another tool we use.
Great if you put in the time to make it so
What do you like best about the product?
Simple, clean formatting. Many templates and good potential for organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes frustratingly difficult to make changes to formatting. I wish there were html support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation for both IT employees and users alike. Great place to store and share internal documentation.
Excellent tool for communication and collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility with Confluence. There really isn't much you can't do, and if you are using the other Atlassian products it meshes really well with those as well. This is a great tool for an intranet as well as a tool for documentation. You could use this tool to run a site that gives information about your company to shareholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of the flexibility of Confluence that is a little bit of a learning curve that takes place when first implementing the software. It can be complex and although there are templates to help it can still be a little overwhelming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Confluence as a means to store our documentation and to provide a knowledge base for our service desk and issue collection.
Decent for what it is
What do you like best about the product?
I like the simple format for pages and the markup language.
What do you dislike about the product?
Organizing information is not easy. It can be really hard to find something if it's buried in a giant left nav bar with 8 levels of nesting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easy to slap together some content for internal use, if I just want to communicate something basic to my coworkers.
Confluence is great and flexible
What do you like best about the product?
The capabilities of the system by itself are great but the direct connection with its counterpart Jira for ticket tracking is fantastic when set up properly.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have it set up properly, there’s nothing to dislike. It is a great tool .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
