Simple, collaborative way for Technical documentation

What do you like best about the product?
Learning curve is low, people can generally dive in and start using it. Additionally, the search is usually quite good, and being able to see what others are working on is useful to find knowledge.

We use it for knowledge capture & management. By being able to quickly deliver documentation on automation projects we have been able to see increased reuse and faster support issue resolution.

Confluence as a "Wiki"

  • January 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We've been utilizing Confluence as a "Wiki" for our fulfillment team. I like that we're able to give editing credentials to select people, but put most as view-only, and I like that multiple people can be editing at once. We used Google Docs previously, and it frequently froze when that many users were in it. I love how easy it is to modify text, put title case, and add hyperlinks to different sections.
What do you dislike about the product?
For whatever reason, we are frequently getting locked out. I'm meticulous about passwords, but it seems to be fickle. I also don't like that pictures don't copy and paste with text, so it was extremely time-consuming to transfer over processes from Google Docs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're utilizing it as a Wiki for all of our fulfillment processes across multiple organizations. Previously, we were all over Google Docs, printed processes, etc., so I love the accountability and autonomy it gives our teams to have one central, well-designed resource.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you admin is readily accessible, as we tend to get logged out frequently and the admin has to frequently reset passwords which my time dislikes.

Great for archiving UX Research projects

  • January 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am a UX Researcher and my team heavily utilizes Confluence for storing our UX Research for later use by future team members and the company at large. We are frequently told by people in other teams that our team has some of the best documentation in the company. Confluence helps us organize our research relatively efficiently in an organized way.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be challenging to learn how to use Confluence for your own purposes, and can require quite a bit of Googling to get right. It doesn't do everything that we would like it to, and does feel a little bit outdated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned above, it's a great archival tool that the whole company can access. It allows our work to live on beyond just ourselves and the time that we finalized the work.

What do you like best about the product?
Able to organize documents hierachically, and be able to control permissions for access
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing tools could be a little better to allow for proper alignment of text
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge sharing and document repository. It has become very easy and convenient to store project related documents during its inception, and then use it as document/knowledge repository after go-live

  • January 13, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity to make your pages any way you like makes this software an easy way to manage project information.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have never worked on a project page before, the blank page at the beginning can be overwhelming, but as soon as you start working with it you can start creating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team management across international locations.

It's just ok

  • January 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability for my whole team to collaborate in one place and make edits at the same time. Makes sharing information easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
The weird, unique formatting nuances. Not enough synergy to MS Office, which I think the majority of business professionals are used to using at this point.

Our development shop uses Atlassian Confluence to be more productive

  • January 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It encourages our team to collaborate and share knowledge they've gained individually with the group. Without their knowledge, when they leave, we take a huge hit in productivity. We need all this information collected into a central location for everyone to share.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only that we don't use it ENOUGH. I'd like to see it used even more for documentation and knowledge-base purposes. Maybe make it easier to draft and preview without publishing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving the problem of having one individual or individuals who hold all the knowledge, and if they leave we're in big trouble.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's about the best offering there is out there.
