Confluence Review - Getting Organized with All your Information

  • October 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a great tool for keeping track of documents and notes for all your different projects. It is also a good collaboration tool for getting input from various stakeholders in the company. With all the information and features of a comment section, it is easy for people to understand the projects and add their questions or comments without missing important information.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the displays of google documents are as clear as we would like. It would be good to have more control on how the google docs display on the screen. Normally we would see too many scrollbars and formatting issues when displaying those. I would occasionally encounter issues with formatting while taking notes on a project and would have to submit and edit the file again to fix it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One major business problem we are solving for is finding information and changes on the various projects we have going on. Instead of tracking emails or slack, we can consolidate all the information in one location. We can simply point people to the project pages to get up to speed on everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to test out the product before choosing what you plan to use. Having several business cases to work off of keeps your evaluation efficient.

Best tool for saving and editing your documents

  • October 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I store all my important documents and update its versions on the confluence. I publish the document and my mentors can easily comment and provide feedback on the document. I can re-edit the document and publish it again for further reviews
What do you dislike about the product?
Every time you have to publish the document to get it reviewed and this consumes time. Unlike other applications where live editing is an option, confluence has restrictions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use confluence in storing and sharing my office documents within the team
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence should start live editing and sharing feature. Every time publishing any document is time-consuming

Good documentation tool but slightly limited and hard to use.

  • October 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that it is easy to search for keywords in order to find specific articles. It has some good features like code highlight for every language, and some simple tools to add value to the articles like diagrams, timelines or tables. It has good security features, so depending on your role or department you might not be able to see specific articles.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a pretty high learning curve for new users, and it can be hard to guess or find specific functionalities or options if you are not familiar with them. It is also pretty limited in terms of what kinds of things you can add to the pages, it would be great to have more external plugins to add functionality to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence mainly as a database of software development documents and tool documentation of everything we work on, as well as a database of general company documentation and best practices for every department.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is great tool for simple article databases of knowledge, however it is pretty hard for new users we found to get around to doing things in Confluence, and it can have a bit of a learning curve. It is also pretty limited in terms of advance functionality for articles, for example, it has a timeline feature but it's very basic.

Confluence as company knowledge center

  • October 20, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is great for document collaboration. It can be used as standalone or integrated with other Atlassian products. Also it has integration capabilities with other apps.
It has useful export and import capabilities. Working with document editing interface in fine.
It helped us to convert personal knowledge and experience into company experience.
Notification of changes keeps you up to date. Versioning is great and a real life safer in case you swipe your work.
Different templates gives you the best tools for your documentation need. Some has micro blogging. Some gives you plain simple documentation space.

Deployment of the cloud version is pretty easy and we were able to start using it on the same day.

Also Atlassian's pricing policy for small groups is excellent.
Security
What do you dislike about the product?
The latest layout and UI changes made the navigation harder and decreased usability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence allowed us to centralize knowledge and information. However tight integration with Jira Service Desk makes it the best choice for knowledge center that we use to share information with our customers.
Confluence, supported our company to make our experience documented and share the information with our new colleagues easily. This decreased the orienation period.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not draw yourself back if navigation makes you uncomfortable.

Powerful Tool Many Features

  • October 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot of security but very few restrictions about who can collaborate together. We have the flexibility to make our own groups but also limit that content from getting out.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are alot of hidden features that you may not know about if you don't use frequently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to collaborate across groups - particularly I am a sales person working directly with engineers so I can see their efforts without having to ask questions.

Perfect Interconnectivity with Jira

  • October 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you use Jira for as your issue management system, you should take the time to learn the in-and-outs of confluence. Confluence gives non-technical employees the ability to create beautifully formatted external or internal facing sites, with the option to pull in data from external sources.

What I like best? Enough design customization to make it feel in-line with your style guide but not too much to make the process overwhelming. The end result is a gorgeous site that is easy for anyone to maintain and keep up to date.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say the biggest flaw in Confluence is the same flaw in Jira, user management can be a big pain. With the concept or users being tied to 'projects' it can be difficult to understand why one user is able to access contents while a user with similar access cannot. This lies at the project level when IMO it should be settable at the global level.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our main usage of confluence is as a Wiki for our different applications and users. Confluence provides us with the ability to manages these resources in a way that is logical for all of our user-bases. One of the big benefits we didn't realize when we initially signed up for the product was the ability to include downloadable content (PDFs, Excels, etc.).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's pretty obvious... Jira. If you dont use Jira, consider it. If you use Jira, use Confluence.

What do you dislike about the product?

Confluence Review

  • October 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence’s editor feature allows employees to create content such as meeting notes, product requirements and research reports. The solution enables managers to review and share feedback in documents themselves.
What do you dislike about the product?
At an enterprise level, there are few web designing that is required to be done so that content that is already there can be structured in a much more web design format like links to confluence pages to be embedded in an image. That option is available but to central Admin and not to the page admin that makes confluence little crunched to admin users within a project. But this negative point is a very small piece in comparison to positives with this application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence's task management feature allows managers to delegate, monitor and track changes to tasks assigned to each employee. The task management feature updates managers with status on tasks that are completed, impending, or overdue. The software integrates with JIRA to enable project transparency.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence is flexible and expandable. For no extra cost, you can have as many spaces, pages and sub-pages as needed. There is a huge suite of add-ons and macros that allow for integration with third-party services and extra functionality. I like that I can organize, reorganize, nest pages and keep everything very tightly structured.
