Simple search functions, difficult to standardize organization

  • September 24, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to search for what you need in a group.
Easy for teams to create their unique organization of topics.
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficult to standardize organization across 200+ people and 10+ teams so everyone can easily access each other’s work.
Difficult to encourage adoption for non-programers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Share of knowlegde. Standaridisation of solving some problems. Quicker turn around because able to adapt the work of those who have already invested a lot of time in the issue.

Good way to share technical documentation

  • September 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that pages can be organized in Confluence per team. It is easy to find information that you need. Additionally, it is a great way to document your work on various projects and see what other team members are working on.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have much to say for negatives of Confluence. One nice feature that I wish Confluence had would be a way for teams to edit documents concurrently, similar to the features on Google drive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Confluence as a way to document our work and share knowledge within the company. It is great to have a centralized location to turn to for information and instructions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Confluence for documentation; it is a great way to track even your own progress on projects. Use it to see what other teams are working on to learn more about your company.

Ties in well with Jira

  • September 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use Confluence on-prem and it ties in very well with Jira. I like that you can reference documents and workflows directly in Jira tickets.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Confluence to be a little clunky at times. The previews of documents aren't the best, and the search could be a little more robust.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence to store documents for industry compliance purposes. Many of our team members are spread all over, so being able to have them in a central location is good. We also like that documents are more searchable than they would be if on a file share. We track our Sequence of Events for releases as well as Change Notes in confluence.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Clearly communicate naming conventions, folders, organization, etc. to users as it can get unwieldy if not managed by a good administrator.

Easy to use, great layout

  • September 20, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The layout is better than google docs because you can see everything lined up side by side if you would like to. Makes for an easier flow to understand processes
What do you dislike about the product?
Can take a bit of time to get the hang of, the newsfeed with updates can be a bit overwhelming at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing internal knowledge and processes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Play around with the different layouts and see what works best. I like having similar docs appear side by side (it makes things easier to process for me)

The best tool for sharing and storing documentation

  • September 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have deployed Confluence in every environment that I've been a part of. It's the best tool for sharing and storing documentation across teams thanks to its robust permissions tools, large assortment of content templates and a marketplace with thousands of add-ons that offer even more functionality.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing structure for the on-prem deployment is such that small businesses cannot easily afford licenses for all or even most of their users, making it less than ideal as an Intranet solution. If there was a tier that covered 11-100 users for less than the $5100 sticker price, I would have gladly utilized it in even more environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence excels at organizing documentation, and to that end it has allowed me and my teams to store and recall critical notes even years after the fact. This is especially helpful when diagnosing those pesky one-off IT issues; no longer do you need to scrape through archived e-mails, share drives and search results. In less than a minute, you can ensure that important user guide or tech note does not fall off the face of the earth.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore not only the many plugins available in the marketplace, but also Service Desk and JIRA. These platforms, when used for helpdesk management and bug tracking respectively, really allow you to unite the entire spectrum of IT issues in one tightly-integrated set of tools.

What do you like best about the product?

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
content sharing across several groups, has been a great tool
