A Powerful Part of the Atlassian Suite
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a powerful wiki for internal documentation that can also be used for external documentation. One of its most powerful features is its seamless integration with the rest of Atlassian's suite.
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence easily becomes an information architecture nightmare. I do not think this problem is specific to Confluence, but Confluence can get an edge by addressing the problem. A small, annoying thing is the inability to pick custom colors for text.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge management and sharing internally across disparate silos.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It really is best to use Confluence, or any wiki, when you want to organize information for sharing. It provides you the ability to create an interactive website for knowledge management (rather than marketing) but it quickly degrades into a forest of outdated nonsense *unless* you have a solid content strategy and information architecture in place.
MUST HAVE knowledge sharing center
What do you like best about the product?
I love how Confluence lets you paste images from clipboard, create tables within a document, and format code with ease. It makes documentation so easy, taking away all the pain-points in the process. The ability to modify Access permissions are very thorough, allowing you to set-up either a private set of documents for your team, or have a public page hosting information that everyone can benefit from.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are minor annoyance such Confluence such as not being able to easily change the font on a default posting, but it is not a big problem. I also do not really like that way to organize the order and hierarchy of your content, the GUI is not very intuitive and not very easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence as shared central repository for documentation, including but not limited to storing code, business rules, meeting minutes, release notes, and general knowledge. Whenever a question is asked in the business, you can just answer with a link to the Confluence page, much like how you would sent a link of a Wikipedia page. This has prevented us from losing so much knowledge that's just simply "in your employee's heads".
Best tool for sharing Documentation
What do you like best about the product?
Atlassian Confluence is a great tool when it comes to working together in a team and sharing the documents. It is so simple to use simply create pages and the edit interface is as same as Microsoft word which makes it convenient. You can simply put Jira ticket number in between and it will make a link to that. This tool also organizes all the pages in a very productive manner.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a bit annoying sometimes when it triggers an email even for minor modifications on the page. On pressing of ctrl+S, it automatically saves and closes the page which is not good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using this product with our clients, to document the entire project details. It helps the new person to understand and follow the steps.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
it is good product if you want to bring all your project related document at one place for your team.
Confluence is a very useful tool for our needs!
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence allows us to have robust, easy to navigate documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, at least the way we're using it (lots of tables, the formatting can be hard to edit or show up differently in preview than when you publish it.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence for support contact center documentation across multiple teams.
