About Confluence

  • July 14, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's pretty easy to use and I find most of the page editing tools very intuitive. I appreciate the ability to restrict pages - this allows you to use the spaces for private brainstorming, collaboration, or general information. Some of the widgets are pretty cool too.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit of a challenge to format the tables - the functionality is pretty different than any other system that I've used, and I wish this was more simple because tables are a great way to organize information. The search function is also pretty literal; you need to have exact phrasing to find what you're looking for, which can sometimes be a challenge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence is absolutely one of those tools where you're only going to get out of it what you put into it. We're working now on increasing adoption within our system so that everyone uses all of the great information and resources that we have stored in our Confluence.
Overall, great for highly detailed or complex projects -- which makes sense, as they tout the Jira connections. A solid option for bigger teams with communication challenges.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would highly recommend.

Confluence is a modern wiki for your team

  • July 14, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence has a fairly simple WYSIWYG interface that allows the easy creation of pages, articles, blog posts, etcetera. Templates can be created for easily replicating a style of page. One of the best features is the meeting notes pages. During a meeting simply add the topics of discussion and '@' mention users to send them a notification that they should check out the final document. You can also assign 'action items' that will remain part of a list of tasks until they check it off.
What do you dislike about the product?
The WYSIWYG interface is nice for simplicity, but sometimes it seems that basic features are missing from Confluence when you try to get more detailed. The table tools especially are severely lacking compared to something like Google Sheets. In order to copy data from GSheets or Excel, you have to copy it then convert it using a 3rd party tool (my team was able to code one).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence has become our internal wiki for documentation. Instead of folders of documents on a server that people forget about until they need it, pages can be created and tagged in relation to one another.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence does require a bit of setup up front, but once you get going things get very smooth.

    Telecommunications

Its required, and does what its supposed to

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Centralized and commonly accessible, a way for anyone in org to see documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not find formatting particularly easy, and figuring out who I'm writing the documentation is difficult (though that isn't an issue with the software)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documenting and sharing info on things I've built and/or general information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are plenty of alternatives, use it if what the company provides or decently bundled with other Atlassian offerings.

What do you like best about the product?
The way you can search for anything that is inside confluence, each day ALL items are indexed

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we use confluence for our knowlege base so if there is anything I need to know, rather than bothering a colleague i can use the search function and find articles that my team members have uploaded.
