Really useful collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
the clean experience - not too many features, not too basic either. just the right amount of customization.
What do you dislike about the product?
integration with different file formats; missing features that are very useful for editing and document manipulation, track changes, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
document storage, sharing, version control
Recommendations to others considering the product:
use in conjunction with other software to maximize performance and efficiency
Confluence helps keep our team on the same page
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence helps solve the problems of needing a knowledge base as well as work spaces for our employees. We can host our documentation for our customers or have spaces for internal access only. We also love the questions plug in which allows us to interact with our customers, and for them to interact with each other.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search feature is lacking. It would be better off if we used a custom search engine instead. There are times when you get a lot of results do to past iterations of pages showing up, this ends up almost duplicating the results. In addition, if you lock it down for customers, it might not give enough results. That can frustrate the customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can host our documentation and customize the layout to make it easy to find. In addition, it makes a great portal for us to share ideas with customers while they provide feedback.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They are a great company to work with as they help get the information to your team and customers quickly. They have a lot of flexibility which can help make the software look and feel specific to your company. It is great for sharing information such as announcements, conferences, and new details about our software. You can also archive older information so customers who have not yet upgraded will have access to documentation they still need.
Great wiki features
What do you like best about the product?
I loved being able to manage our internal wiki and marketing materials in Confluence. Being able to freely distribute information and not have to worry about versioning was fantastic. I also like being able to drop files straight into the wiki pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was hard to learn about the features and capabilities. A lot of it was just trial and error. If there had been some learning materials to reference I would have liked that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Content management and materials archiving
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you establish user expectations. Also, remember that there is always older version of pages you can review. So encourage people to write new content and not worry about overwriting something.
Ideal Collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
It allows the team to share all matter of content, from software/hardware, documentation, test plans, sustainment guidleines, lessons learned, etc
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything about Confluence that I can say I dislike at the present time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Effective sharing of ideas, the ability to ensure that follow-on projects can learn from our examples
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent tool for knowledge transfers and sharing
Outstanding tool
What do you like best about the product?
Easiness and flexibility to use. It's easy to build up a knowledge base with Confluence.
What do you dislike about the product?
You just need to pay attention when posting a new page to nest it correctly. But, wait! If you do it wrongly, it's really ease to fix!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using primarily as knowledge base. Everytime a team member (or even a customer) needs something with a procedure, you just send a link and/or download as a PDF and, that's it!
Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use. Share data across multiple teams regardless of location
What do you dislike about the product?
Software Can be counterintuitive at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing information with multiple offices
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's really convenient and easy to use. Encourages communication.
Document Sharing with Structure
What do you like best about the product?
Simple to write and edit articles. Sharing and privacy is built in. Page structure is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Content is not feature full. Many time copying and pasting from other places requires tedious amounts of editing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing documents
Solid wiki for team communication
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use editor, with great WYSIWYG capabilities and a markup mode for advanced users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Plugin management can be painful, and you can be stuck on older versions while waiting for plugins to be updated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were hoping to improve communication and create a repository of processes and knowledge. This has been achieved with Confluence.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Choose plugins that are regularly updated.
Confluence - not elegant, but necessary
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence helps fulfill a need for one central place to keep technical documents and company wiki articles. It integrates with a variety of tools like Sketch, Balsamiq, and Gliffy which makes workflow easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be difficult to navigate, with a bit of a learning curve for those unfamiliar with Atlassian's software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence provides a central place to document technical requirements, and be that place where the "single source of truth" is written up for designers, developers, and stakeholders to all view.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence integrates well with other Atlassian products like Jira, so it's the natural choice for documentation for teams already using Jira. Confluence can be a little clunky to use, but Atlassian is constantly working to improve the software.
Good platform for sharing thoughts and comments
What do you like best about the product?
i like the way the tool is organized - the ability to share notes, links and comment on them in a nested way. Also the feature of email integration is good as everyone gets an email when anyone comments or shares something - be it link or comment
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing so far. may be a chat like option would be good but not really needed
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
the main use of confluence is to share ideas and comments on different products or releases or track defects within the company,
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you are not using confluence, I suggest you to use it as it provides good team collaboration and a platform to share comments / links or other data which otherwise sharing thru emails and chat is tedious.
