And enjoyable confluence experience

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
User friendly, decent layout, and multifunctional platform for end users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The "notify watchers" checkbox seems to be be checked as default, but I do not want multiple emails sent out if I plan on making small changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration and up to date status on projects and software releases

    Management Consulting

Does what it sets out to do well. Not a application development environment like Sharepoint

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple wiki interface, easy to learn and use. Templates provided and additional plugins help enhance the experience. Hosted application means no need to worry about server maintenance/ patching etc...
What do you dislike about the product?
Not really a "dislike" - you can't build applications (even lite ones) like you can do with SharePoint. No workflow. Per user pricing is probably not the best - esp. when there are lot of occasional users and a few regular users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration among team members and knowledge sharing has improved a lot with the deployment of confluence. There has been significant reduction in sending of content/ artifacts via email and file share tools
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it if you are looking for a dead simple content management/ collaboration tool

What do you like best about the product?
1- Simple and at the same time rich user interface
2- Allows customization via configuration (Templates) and custom code (plugins and scripts)
3- Extensible, using many plugins in marketplace
4- Secure
5- Cloud and on-premise edition flexibility
6- Tags and labels, you can tag documents and search for document by tag/label
7- Smooth integration with other Atlassian's products like Jira
What do you dislike about the product?
1- Administration of Confluence in Windows environment could be a bit quirky since it is a JVM service
2- Searching by labels every now and then had a delay which required a manual re-indexing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1- Avoid knowledge silo's in an organization documenting processes
2- searchable wiki for help desk support
3- Repository of project requirements
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence impact and benefit in my opinion is maximized when it is used along with other Atlassian's product such as Jira, HipChat, Bitbucket and etc.

Confluence for Internal Resource Organization

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The organization it offers for teams and departments within a big company. It's dynamic and you can include links, files, images, etc. for easy access. The ability to move away from Google Doc is massive. I like the tagging and search features as well. I also appreciate the ability to follow certain pages of interest and get email notifications about that. It's great for internal resources, projects, manuals, etc. that need to be collaborative (which is essential in a fast moving company).
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing major I hate. I do wish formatting was more intuitive when creating pages. The eye for design I have gives me an aversion to the aesthetic but that is part of the Confluence brand I suppose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of processes, forms, and project roadmaps that need a central storage and collaboration space. Confluence allows up to organize all of this content for each team, in an easy to find way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great for small to medium sized companies. We are under 500 people, I am not sure how it would work for a company larger than that.

Confluence helps in a big way when you want to track documentation

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its a go to page for us to find the documentation, update, review
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I dont like is I get too many notifications when some changes a line or a word.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a team we share write technical documents and share it with other teams and departments and also include managers to have a better visibility
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Absolutely ! It helped me come up to speed when I first joined.

Great resource, but can be unwieldy

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is great for having many teams collaborate and have documents automatically collected.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to add interactive graphics, like checkboxes, to a whole list easily. Also, the mechanism for embedding links needs improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for multiple user types and it's taken over where SharePoint or other file-sharing platforms were used in the past. It has versioning, simple security and indexing built in.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't under estimate the document storage space and integrate with AD as soon in setup as possible.

Easy to use wikis for the whole company

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely simple way to set up a wiki, knowledge base, or company-wide document sharing. Pages are on the simple side, but additional add-ons can make them more robust.
What do you dislike about the product?
Organization structure can be confusing; nested pages can be difficult to setup correctly and to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Storage and sharing information
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out the baseline software before any addon.

    Information Technology and Services

Confluence has been a great adddition

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How you can collaborate with so many teams / projects across the company in one place. Also the different templates, etc. that can be built within to keep consistency is amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I will get too deep into Confluence and not sure how I ended up there - so it can get confusing at times, but once you become more familiar it gets better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project planning; documentation

    Information Services
