Confluence Review From A Corporate Viewpoint

  • January 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy for users to collaborate, give permissions, search, integrate JIRA.
What do you dislike about the product?
how basic it is. Simple is good but with confluence, the architecture is too simple that it doesn't allow for optimal organization of company resources. Highly suggest using for basic sharing needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
That there are little glitches that happen often and the difficulty of adding levels to ensure a well rounded structure for a company.

1. I love that you can easily create new pages and child pages in order to keep each client's info organized
2. I love that you can easily add attachments and charts
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the mobile version of Confluence
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefit is that is has become our company's main hub for all client info as well as internal processes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Love using this except for on a mobile device

Great wiki, but not without some training

  • January 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Each team in the company had their own section/page to document what we did.
We were able to have up to date rules on travel and expense reimbursement without relying on emails.
Onboarding was much easier for us because we were able to create a get started page and make a tree depending on what membership they were a part of
Our auditors were very happy to see our rules and policies in one place.
Change tracking was very useful,
SSO means onboarding and offboarding employees was very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Steep learning curve. It wasn't easy to get started.
Editing isn't as simple as it seems, there are a good amount of limitation in the text editor available, things like tables and charts weren't the simple copy/paste we expected.
Search was quite limited, couldn't search within subsections as I expected.
Attachments aren't obvious sometimes, not sure if there are limitations in the file size limit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a central repo of documents and instructions. We used it for policies, onboarding, and general shared announcements across the company or just within teams.

  • January 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The way JIRA and Confluence can be linked and can create a tree structure for issues created in JIRA and even Confluence can be used to create issues directly in JIRA
What do you dislike about the product?
The editing and managing the structure of page is not user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating Product Road Map and Implementation plans along with that all documentation is being tracked and created in Confluence

Confluence is a great document repository

  • January 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes it easy to store documentation for sending around within our company, as well as documenting release notes. The integration with JIRA is key for us. We also use it to effectively collaborate on tasks and to do lists.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI is not always very intuitive. It can be difficult to figure out who to add styles, bullets, and other formatting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to collaborate easily across teams that are dispersed around the world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to collaborate on docs across your teams at an enterprise level, it is worth it.

Very functioning collaborative documentation tool

  • December 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Comparing to Wiki, Confluence is more project or team oriented and well integrated with JIRA. This means you might expect documents being organized with hierarchy and metadata such as team, project, program, organization, etc. This is a major advantage but also you have to manage the metadata well as you have more documents in the tool, otherwise some will get lost or become garbage document.
What do you dislike about the product?
This may be trade off with good functionality, Confluence is a bit slow and heavy. Also user may need time to get used to the tool and learn the functions to fully utilize it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using the tool for managing project / technical documents in our project. It is well integrated with JIRA to follow issues, resolve them, and store history.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you consider Confluence based on cloud service, check if it not slow and affect productivity of documentation.

What do you like best about the product?
It’s great if you are using Jira. You can connect tickets for release notes and project planning that way. There is also a handy gliffy plugin.
What do you dislike about the product?
Creating pages in the right spot is not super intuitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Searchable product documentation to help employees self serve

Confluence integrates well with other internal apps

  • December 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Confluence is bundled with other like apps from the Atlassian product sweet. They work well together to provide information across the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say that my biggest dislike is that the product service occasionally will go down for several hours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are looking to share information across the organization for all departments. We have realized information sharing as a result.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good product suite so do it.

Flexible and easy to use Wiki solution

  • December 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is ready to use for basic wiki needs. Plugins allow for some connectivity to other data sources and it's integrated (somewhat) with Atlassian's other products such as JIRA and HipChat.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integrations with JIRA could be improved to include deep linking to content in pages and within issues. Markdown is limited; a real bummer when trying to create a page with formatting beyond a simple bulleted list.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating and maintaining a knowledge base for use by different geographically diverse teams.
