A great online collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using this online collaboration tool for over 8 years. Atlassian is continuously making functional and non-functional improvements to this tool. It has seamless integration with JIRA issue tracker. It offers a wiki like user interface and clean interface and is focused on end user productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited plugins to choose from and high per user cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Online workspace sharing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence tool is essential if you are already using JIRA issue tracking tool.
Structure and Organization
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the flow and format of the confluence system. It is easy to structure and customize to meet the needs and the site locations allow for quick categorization between teams. I also like the ability to follow or watch pages to keep up to date and informed.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much ability to manage projects effectively from an analytical perspective.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team communication and document resource management.
The Best of Documentation
What do you like best about the product?
Great features for both authors and readers. Powerful tools for editing that produce great documents, all in the cloud. There are tons of pre-built macros that, thus far, have covered everything I've wanted to include in a document. Custom macros are also available for power users who have more complex requirements and more technical capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting PDF exports to look good is a time-consuming process. There is lots of trial and error when editing the stylesheet, and it never looks quite as good as a similar document created in Word and then exported to PDF. I also don't particularly like the recent minimalist redesign. I'm a fan of the minimal UI style in general, but I fear they took it a little too far in this case and made it difficult to find the things I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal knowledge sharing and documentation while minimizing document management overhead. Migrating our documentation from Word to Confluence has already saved me more time on upkeep than the entire migration process took. One key feature is being able to have one document included in-line as a section in another document. This way you can update that one document and have the changes automatically propagated to all documents where that one is shared.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take time at the beginning to closely review and edit the PDF stylesheet. It can be overwhelming for non-technical end users, so it's best to lock down early on the process and have it standardized across users.
Very customizable
What do you like best about the product?
You can make it look like or include any information you want. We use it between multiple departments who are able to cater it to their needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very little. It does everything we need to do in a very user-friendly way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can keep employees up-to-date with company or department information easily.
Great centralized repository for content management
What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive user interface that enables everyone across all levels of the organization to contribute or edit knowledge articles.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the editing interface does not work in ways that you intend or would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized content management, that also integrates with JIRA. It allows for easy content management across the organization. There are various plugins so that visuals can be included in pages.
Confluence ist my Braindump
What do you like best about the product?
Fast documentation and the social functions we use every day. We use it for technical documentation and projects as project space. Simple to transfer the project documentation later to the technical space. The search is very fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
Manage tables in confluence is terrible. We got many tables in excel files and wan´t to copy them to confluence. But this ist not easy and many manual efford is needed to bring the table to a readable format. Printing sites with Tables is also unusable, because the tables in the document are printed outside the paper. You can not read them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage the hole technical and project documentation with confluence. Also everybody has a personal space to dump the brains into confluence. We use the comment and mention functions to hold all project members in touch.
Confluence review for growing start-up
What do you like best about the product?
It's intuitive and user-friendly. I've had no issues that have come up while using it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pages could be color coded or color blocked so that the words don't all mesh together. Because I'm a user and not a admin, I shouldn't have access to edit any page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving work stream collaboration and visibility among the different departments. We've benefited from just that, collaboration and visibility.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a no bells and whistles kind of collaboration platform. It's easy to read and simple to use. My company uses it for housing best practices, sales goals, and sales comp.
Small business using confluence
What do you like best about the product?
I found it very helpful to share documents related to our clients and the stage at which each is progressing. This allowed multiple people to check in quickly, without the need for multiple emails about the stage we were currently at.
What do you dislike about the product?
Notifications were a little too frequent, especially when many clients had alterations made, this problem was solved easily enough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communicating quickly between staff and sharing important documents related to our clients, reducing the need for paper documentation.
a fine tool for what it is
What do you like best about the product?
the search is robust, there is a lot of data on revision history and you can notify people of changes. it's a fine tool for documenting
What do you dislike about the product?
it's a little bulky, the tool to edit isn't always the most intuitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
knowledge sharing and documentation for websites. A good place to note common used plugins, who worked on a project, links to design files etc
Recommendations to others considering the product:
a good tool for documentation, but a little clunky
Great software to document work files.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the editor the best. It's very easy to add a document and directly edit it like a word document, especially the links on confluence itself can automatically change to a file. I can also like people's new post and follow specific pages or documents. Whenever there is a change I can get an email notification and it shows the changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
People keep adding new documents and it turns out tons of information there. If there can some tools for cleaning up those documents or automatically deleting old files/archives, that will be easier for people to search things. Also the search feature needs users to understand some basic coding knowledge which sometimes makes it a little hard to understand what should be put there to search things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It document files. Especially when we have new hires, it's a good place for them to check our work process and guidelines. Very good for training new employees!
