Incredibly powerful tool, but can feel overwhelming to get started if you're unfamiliar

  • December 19, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a great hub for all knowledge-base content, internal documentation, wikis, internal blogging, and so much more.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can feel overwhelming to get new spaces jumpstarted. We are still in the early stages of taking full advantage of Confluence despite using JIRA for over 3 years now. Creating spaces and moving content between those spaces is not an easy task, but once organized, it is a breeze.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are finally utilizing it to fully document internal processes. In our company, many of us are 'singular' in our organization and so if we happen to be unavailable, out of office, or leave the company, our basic processes for various tasks are not documented and leave the person picking up the slack in a really difficult position. With Confluence, we are now able to document basic processes such as restarting servers, creating promotions, creating A/B tests using other software, HTML templates for emails, and so much more.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've used this solution in the past at other organizations and feel comfortable using it in my current position. Know there is a learning curve to getting started, and the 'overwhelming' feeling you may feel at first is best alleviated by building out spaces based on a hierarchy first (e.g., Marketing, Technology, Support, etc., then break down Marketing into Content, Email, Social, etc.).

What do you like best about the product?
It has some powerful features that are mostly user-friendly
What do you dislike about the product?
It can become difficult to locate specific items when a search returned items that are not always relevant
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides teams with an ability to collaborate and work simultaneously towards a common goal for software development, bug fixes, new user stories, issue tracking within a single user interface

Great collaboration tool

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence allows my team the ability to create varied content ranging from notes from our meetings to, product requirements, and reports. It also allows managers to review and share feedback
What do you dislike about the product?
No real downsides. Every issue we have experienced in our use was quickly resolved by referencing online FAQ's and forums.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
True team collaboration, especially the collaboration with offsite employees (often across the country)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dive and and learn the tool fully. There are some great resources out there to get the most out of the software - even Youtube has some good demo videos

Confluence is great!

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is great software. It flows smoothly and it is very easy to do and find what you were looking for. I would highly recommend it to anyone in my industry.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lot to learn. I am still relatively new to it but I am learning. It’s nothing that I dislike per se but it’s a learning curve like any other software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Are used to solve problems among other employees on the job. It makes things so much easier for everyone.

Great collab software

  • December 19, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
It's great to see the tracking of changes from other users and yourself. Confluence is like Google Docs but better! It syncs up with Jira which is super helpful when you're linking things together.
What do you dislike about the product?
The layout looks kinda boring. I"m not into fashion by any means but it would be nice to have other colors than boring grey. The software itself is great and I have no complaints, this is purely a cosmetic issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I do alot of collab work in Confluence with other departments. It's great that we can use the same page to collab with and have sub pages that link to each other. It's a great way to keep track of things within your group as well as others.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It works best with alot of people, try to find large groups and collab this way.

Easy to use, great for team collaboration and documentation

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A great deal of functionality in the tool - we use it mostly for documentation on key processes, capturing meeting notes and building product/project/launch plans. Email notices for when a change is made to a page or space are useful, as I now don't have to go and check but can wait to be notified of when I need to hop in. The ability to lock a page comes in handy when touchy items still in the works like product pricing or roadmaps aren't ready for everyone to view.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some very minor formatting issues when working within different panel tables. Nothing major. The 'Search' function could use some love. Draw.io had previous glitches when saving (or rather, not saving!) but those seem to have been resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation of key processes, meeting notes, project plans, user feedback templates, wiki, tracking task statuses.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate your needs and problems with current solution. Test it out to see if it solves your specific problems. Get granular, test the extremes and allow different personas within your company to provide feedback. It works great for us and the integration with JIRA is a plus for agile teams and feature status tracking.

Great!

What do you like best about the product?
Best for sharing with other people. We used it in our team to maintain a common shared document where everyone could go and edit it. It also has web-access which made it super convenient.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of things that didn't work for us was that the confluence page would crash. Some of us would not be able to access the page. This happened only once in a while though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No specific business problems. Just used it for team collaboration.

Confluence for Company Intranet

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence provides our company a universal tool for collaboration across several global offices. I like that the tool provides attachment storage as well as project management.
What do you dislike about the product?
The organization capabilities and the editing capabilities are limited. Without training, the system is not intuitive to navigate in terms of how spaces and pages are organized. Additionally, there are limits to editing capabilities, especially without knowledge of macros. I would like the option to be able to upload a non-compressed file folder for easy access to individual documents. Currently, files can only be added individually, which is cumbersome, or as a zip file, which doesn't allow visibility into the file without downloading it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence is solving global communication and collaborations efforts within our business. We benefit from a singular location for updated information and project management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Training! There are a lot of great things this tool can be used for and provide to your company. However, if employees don't know the functionality and the features, then the system is hard to navigate, unorganized, and not beneficial compared to other tools.

Empower your employees with knowledge on how Confluence is a stronger tool than other options, such as shared drives, etc.

    Information Services

Good collaboration tool for organizing client events across multiple departments

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to find info on calendar quickly. Ease of updating team members who share interest in the same project. Ease of updating the status of said projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
If too many pages are added it becomes more difficult to follow
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the calendar to schedule all of our events and then our marketing department schedules their outreach based on this. We also use it to assign team members specific tasks of a project.
