Confluence is a powerful project management tool - but tricky to master

  • August 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Using Confluence for software project management is incredibly powerful. No detail is left to chance and everything is trackable.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to master - and relies heavily on individual users continuing to update the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software project management, video project management

Excellent wiki platform

What do you like best about the product?
It just works. The addition of Diagramly plugin makes diagrams inside the platform free and easy. Integration with JIRA and Crucible simple and effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Searching can be a pain, multiple search terms are often needed. Even with content tags some searches do not behave as you would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A comprehensive document repository for software and operations projects. Document history and versioning.

What do you like best about the product?
The versatility of the product with the market place add ons such as the Gliffy integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
The page structure proves to be difficult to manage. Pages get lost easily, it takes an upfront effort and a plan to stay organized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are implementing a Quote to Cash transformation focusing on billing and CPQ and the integrations

Documentation for Employees and Customers alike

  • August 11, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the Jira integration and how it allows to link our software development work with other areas of the company. If setup correctly, managing documentation is very easy even for large complex organizations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could look more modern. It is difficult to make exciting documents within confluence which makes customer facing pages look out of date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives us a repository for all of our documentation and allows for users to self problem solve.

Clumsy interface

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that my whole company continues to engage and add content. That it is searchable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The old and new version are one in the same. Albeit, I see the light with the newest version but it's so slow and drags along. Editing documents is kind of a nightmare, but not nearly as bad as attempting to organize spaces in a meaningful way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation. Level 1 trainings. Dissemination of knowledge from long time level 2 agents to the rest of the company. Avoiding the gate keeper scenario we're in for the future.

Internal documentation and collaboration

What do you like best about the product?
The integration between Confluence and the other Atlassian tools is fantastic for consolidated communication.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing model for Atlassian makes growth difficult at times. Paying a license fee per user for the base software isn't bad, but all the plugins follow that same pricing model. This has been a limiting factor to growth and further development of the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation, collaboration, meeting notes/minutes, client documentation.

What do you dislike about the product?

Confluence is Hit and Miss

  • August 10, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is fairly easy to navigate and add content.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not fully integrated with our ticketing systems, so it is not as easy as I would like to link solutions in responses to customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is the only way our developers pass any information down the line to the engineering, quality control, and support teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fully investigate all options for knowledge authoring and databasing, taking advantage of evaluation periods to determine whether it will fully integrate with your ticketing system.

Great Software for sharing information within the company

  • August 09, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to collaborate and share information within the software. It is easy and intuitive to publish something on confluence and easy to navigate within to find relevant information.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that the layout can be sometimes messy and you have to click on multiple links to find what you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to post tutorials and general information within the company on confluence. Almost anyone can add an article and it saves time so people can pinpoint to an article instead of explaining the same thing over and over again.
