Confluence eliminates the need to know a guy to get IT help in a big office
What do you like best about the product?
I like that users can keep track of their own requests, and even assign them to colleagues in some instance. This has proven to be a useful feature because sometimes only the user putting in the ticket knows who they want to assign the ticket to. As in, sometimes it takes a few days for the IT service desk to find the correct person to assign a ticket. Being able to assign a ticket to a specific user eliminates this.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike. In fact, we recent upgraded and that helped with the interface and usability a lot. I wish the users could view tickets after they are closed for learning reference.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to field so many IT requests in a large organization. We are able to help colleagues working all over the country from a single help desk. We even have implemented shifts so someone is at the service desk 24/7. Working at 3am and your computer crashes? Put in a ticket through your phone and there is someone there to help.
The discussion function is also helpful. Because problems are not always about check boxes, we are able to utilize the chat function on a single ticket. The email alerts are helpful when checking in with a ticket for discussion.

Especially useful for large organizations who would like their IT needs to be met across the country. As long as everyone is on the same server, everyone can put in tickets and make requests through this platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be very sure of what you want to accomplish with the software and have a pre-prepared plan on exactly how that is going to be applied. I recommend that you use it concurrently with JIRA for task management and KANBAN functionality.
Great Tool for Communication

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to set aside some time to teach your team how you plan to use confluence. There's a little bit of a learning curve.
Great tool for projects
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence reduces holding several documentation in various folders. I have organize my task's stories for each of the projects linked to the folders within JIRA. Every folder/story has a structure content, plus stories are accessible to everyone in the team. My team members know exactly where to look for when they need information on specific tasks. Also, new members are able to see the documentations about a task right out of box and learn the requirement .
What do you dislike about the product?
hum, none. I do not have any issues with it since I have been using it in every consulting projects. It was requited to have experience with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The UI is not that intuitive when compared with the Competitors

Asynchronous communication for win
What do you like best about the product?
Inline comments are amazing, they are a great collaborative tool for many teammates review and share thought in pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes is not so easy to find the best edit solution for a given task on Confluence. I expected more intuitive flow and interface, to not have "to think a lot" to figure out how to use it properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Definitely Confluence has a strong advantage in asynchronous communication. My company's employers use pages to add information and share among the teams to comment, discussing and exchange ideas. This kind of communication saves a lot time avoiding wasting time with meetings, mainly for remote teams/people.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In my opinion, it is worth the investment acquiring Confluence if your team uses its collaborative tools, like page comments, inline comments, e-mail alerts and integrations. If you want only a place to store information (pages), without team interaction, you will not use all Confluence power and maybe it is not the best choice for your need.
