    Computer Software

More than a repository, which gives flexibility but complexity

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how we're able to build collaborative workspaces and have content that the team can build together - text, images, discussions and documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the flipside, it's easy to get lost if you don't understand the organizational structure, making it difficult to find things - which is true for any collaboration repository solution with some level of depth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to have global teams share information and document and catalog ideas, progress and communications in one central place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you need a collaborative repository, and not just a file storage system like Box, or a collaboration tool like Slack.

What do you like best about the product?
Access rights management and easy to manage department sections of the application
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is quite steep going from 10 to 75
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloud access allows the users to access the documentation from everywhere. This allowed some of our remote personnel to complete and access documentations.

Nice Product for Project Documentation

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best project documentation tool which I use on a daily basis. Very easy to share it across the resources in a projects. Easily accessible, editable and so easy to maintain!
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a little bit difficult to create a flow chart within it. Alternative solution is to draw it in a different software and embed it to confluence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is the software which I use to document the project designs. The client really likes this product because it is so easy for them to access it. The client prefer confluence documentations rather than going through other softwares.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence is a very reliable, quality product for using project documentations. I would recommend this product will cut short the documentation time to a great extend!

Best way to document Best Practices

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use for newbies. I'm a veteran of the software, so I appreciate that new users can jump in and start contributing without my assistance. As a power user, I like to share the other options with folks once they've gotten their feet wet.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike is harder to answer. Sharing pages is awkward and the resultant emails do not stand out to users such that they know the importance of the share. People don't understand the importance of using a short-url to share things. This is not well documented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence best solves the need for company documentation at each employees fingertips. Essentially a company policy wiki that includes Best Practices and Standard Operating Proceedures.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jump in and start creating in a given space. Look around; create some content. Then decide how your company can best use spaces (or not). The concept of spaces allows for even greater diversity for different teams.

Knowledge is useless unless shared

  • May 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's excellent in how it ties into all of our other tools from Atlassian. The whole suite together allows for easy knowledge sharing and tooling.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is still a bit clunky and dated for this point in time. It'd be nice if we could easily customize it. (I know you can, but it's certainly not easy).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data sharing and ensuring all of our documentation and projects are easy to find and relate to.

Could be a good tool

  • May 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Features available and the integration with JIRA (currently used by our team).
What do you dislike about the product?
Wasn't as user intuitive as anticipated when initially creating sections (pages); this could have been the way it was set up for our team. I experienced frustration trying to utilize some of the key features our team was interested in (I was self-training).
Unable to modify documents within the application; incompatible with editing Word documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrated team development tracking system and document respository

Poor Wiki software

  • May 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Web-based. Allowed hierarchy. Allowed custom plugins. Linked to Bitbucket.
The idea of a wiki makes sense and it promotes companies to record information and avoid tribal knowledge.
What do you dislike about the product?
Formatted poorly. There were no good plugins in the store, and everything cost money. We are already paying for the suite. Now we have to pay to embed a word document? No thank you. Maybe not confluences fault, but we had a bunch of "non-programmers" who were updating the same document again and again as v1,v2,v3, failing to understand that confluence does version control for them.
Also the whole thing blew out of control. We had pages scattered everywhere. The hierarchy of pages aren't obvious and the search is not very good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing flight simulation documents and software designs. It's nice to give people links, and build a documentation tree.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need an administrator to set it up and maintain it. Don't expect to install it, and inmediately use it.
