Great Collaboration Tool

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use makes the suite of Atlassian collaboration tools a great way to keep a remote team aligned with each other and the goals of the project.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Lack of documentation makes it a bit hard to get started and know what every part can do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration between remote resources spread across the country and cataloging of documentation and the past state of the documents has made it so that we can go back and see what changes have been made and now have the ability to cover ourselves when changes are requested by the client.

Works but has shortcomings

  • March 20, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It usually works well and provides some cool tools for aggregating content from other pages, creating TOC, pulling out summaries, and linking with other content. The comments handling has gotten a lot better. It used to be comments were only at the end and then they would become stale as the document was changed to address them. Now comments can be attached to specific parts of a document and thus it's clear what they're referring to and when the doc changes the comments can be removed if no longer applicable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since they switched from available wiki markup to only wysiwyg it's been a mess. The wysiwyg is usually ok but once you get into some mixes of formatting it can get messed up and many of the more advanced tags are not really supported in wysiwyg editor so you still end up typing tags and they sometimes get recognized and converted properly and sometimes they don't and the tag text just sits there with no clear way to tell Confluence this is a tag.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Share internal data with company, notes on past trips, locations, thoughts for future endeavors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Survey your users and consider their tech savvy. For more entry level users who want something to just share info, it's probably fine. For a more advanced crowd, look into other options.

Confluence for Web Teams

  • March 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy to use web based document repository that teams can use to document design, process, meeting notes, agile ceremonies, and process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Simple and easy to use interface is focused on utility, not style. Lackluster interface similar to JIRA.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working with Agile project teams as a product owner, manager, and even a project manager. Documenting features, team meetings, agile ceremonies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Decide how this will fit into your current process flow for documentation and use it to replace any if your current documentation that represents a duplication of effort.

Great tool for collaboration, search and integration with Atlassian products

  • March 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration, real time editing, versioning and always available for editing. Confluence ability to integrate with tools like LucidChart etc are very helpful to create images and integrate that with confluence to take collaboration to next level.
What do you dislike about the product?
Management of tree structure of navigation is something slightly tricky to manage. Along with the export capability does not export the embedded images to exported document.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We word on variety of software and engagements for clients and confluence help them manage documents and acts as a repository for all document and collaboration.

A Great way to share documentation

  • March 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence has a fantastic wysiwyg editor that allows you to easily create informational pages. There is also great integration into Jira that makes it very easy to create team information radiators.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't very much to dislike. I am not a huge fan of page organization in the links menu to the left of a standard page. It makes it hard to nest pages well, and by default hides pages past a certain point.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use confluence primarily for technical documentation and sharing team information radiators.

Nice file sharing database with JIRA integration, A bit confusing in execution

  • March 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Overall, it is very easy to create and share things between JIRA and Confluence, which is the main way that my company uses it. So long as things are properly set up, you can quickly populate documents in Confluence which directly translate into JIRA issues. Or, if you prefer, you can create issues standalone in JIRA and associate/track them in confluence documents.

So, in short, the best part is the connection betwen JIRA and confluence specifically.
What do you dislike about the product?
The overall interface is a bit overwhelming, specifically concerning the multiple ways to do things and if they all are the same or not. There is also a bit of redundancy with the interface on specific pages - Why do I need to know the current activity on pages other than the dashboard?

I was not the one to set up the system at my company, so maybe this is customize-able, but from a generic user standpoint it is difficult to quickly find what I am looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We implemented JIRA and confluence in order to better track time and manage resources to keep up with a large influx of projects and assignments. It is nice to have things itemized, and to attach issues to an overall project document in Confluence.

We are also using Confluence specifically to help organize project goals and objectives, and associating specific issues in a visual table. It's hand to have this sort of document around.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look up as many tutorials as possible. Also, do not be afraid to just try things. It is easy to undo or delete things done without upsetting the overall structure.
