Great if you make an investment in it

  • February 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very flexible and does a great job making information available.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a lot of configuration and "training" to use it properly. I wasn't involved in that side of it but it was someone's full-time job at my company to get it rolled out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
People had documentation all over the place. Confluence allowed us to get it all in one spot.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have a rollout plan and work heavily with all stakeholders for adoption.

Confluence review

  • February 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The extent to which you can make it as complex or as simple as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a little cumbersome, visually it just looks too busy and not intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to share documents, references and calendars with my teams. The biggest benefit is that I can just refer someone to our Confluence page instead of explaining things over and over again.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We can all work on something at the same time and truly record and plan for action. Meeting notes are amazing now.
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many notifications flooding the mail box
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Have grooming sessions with customers , where hey can see us taking notes and for our team to collaborate and add knowledge while solving a problem. Way to organize team responsibilities in one place with transparency.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use this for collaboration

ask for basic training at least and what it is used for.

Great enterprise Wiki product for a reasonable price for small teams

  • February 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Confluence is that it just works. Editing pages is straight forward with simple to understand markup. Add-ons for drawing tools can help make diagramming easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cloud product can be slow if not used for a short period of time. Meaning that it seems like they passivate your instance if you haven't used it for a few hours, so every morning when you hit your page it takes a good 10 seconds to load. It's probably just gone out of the cache, but it is still annoying.

Larger teams and on-premise installations can be quite expensive.

It would be great to have a more collaborative view. If you're editing a page and someone else goes to edit it, you will both get warnings. But there's no option I know of to real-time watch what edits someone else is making, like a Google Doc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A place to store documents or files in an "Intranet" like fashion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the pricing that you might be undertaking in 3-5 years and not just the pricing for your current number of active users.

On boarding can be overwhelming, but is a powerful platform for team communication.

  • February 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how customizable it is. It's possible to design the platform to fit your team's needs and specifications. It also definitely helps to have people within your team be the "gurus" of the software to go to for questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The onboarding process. Because it is so customizable and complex, learning its capabilities can be overwhelming. It took a few months to get the hang of it, but now I use it everyday to be organized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We collaborate in real time with our team from all over the world. We use it to manage projects and meet deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Worth it to learn the system. It will streamline communication and make it easy to collaborate.

Confluence = clean work

  • February 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
a clean way to keep your workflow organized. I can easily log in and see where a problem is in the queue, which technical lead is working on it, and it keeps the issue trackable
What do you dislike about the product?
an additional platform to log into, I can't update / add problems directly from gmail
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
tech issues being solved, data requests, keeping issues organized and not in one big inbox mess. Easier to track indivudals performance and tickets solved
Recommendations to others considering the product:
go all in - use confluence for all issue tracking

WIKI for WORK

  • February 09, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In the past, I've used MediaWiki for use as an internal knowledgebase / content management system. If you haven't used a wiki for something like this, you should.

However, recently looking for solutions are my employer, I found that we had Confluence and other Atlassian products. We had a few employees considering leaving, and there was a large set of institutional knowledge that would have gone with them so I suggested we start using this.

The greatest thing is that there are tons of templates that are all work / institutional related. If I want to set up meeting notes, I select this. If I want a calendaring system for a SPECIFIC project, there is a template for this.
What do you dislike about the product?
I still find it difficult to set up permissions! This may be more a result of our Windows Authentication scheme! And I'm on a Mac! I am not the administrator so I don't know...just an end user!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge base and capturing of institutional knowedge. In a searchable system. When I came into my position, there were excel file with checklists, and word documents with notes, and emails that had pertinent information. And then Win.DAT archives of emails saved to file servers. THREE different file servers.

I prefer having all my notes in a searchable format where one can be linked to another to another. Everything easy to find, and revisions to documents are as easy as looking at history. Beyond this, collaborative notes where you can identify the individual collaborators.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do you need a Wiki for institutional knowledge? No. You are wrong. Get this.
