Using confluence for collaborating with peers for project plans, requirements, notes etc.
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence has rich toolset for creating and editing documents. Organization of various documents and revision history are the highlights for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing the documents at the same time by multiple people is troublesome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create, Edit, share knowledge inside the organization
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool for managing all documents of the organization under one roof.
Review on Confluence
What do you like best about the product?
Wiki or Confluence acts like a shared folder for depository of documents, processes and references. The whole organization can access, add and edit on the entries for a collaborative effort. It works well for us as there are remote staff in the team that needs guidance from time to time and Confluence is the right venue for that.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike is that there are limited formatting options. Tables move and column width cannot be fixed. Also, when you export to a word file, the table loses its lines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central depository of references. It also seem to act like a succession guide for newcomers. It is beneficial for us to use Confluence because there are remote staff that can access documents through this platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend the use of Confluence for organizations that have remote staff. Also, a regular review on the items that are inputted because over time, there are changes and although it is free access to all team members, when there is no police, nobody seems to care.
Review of Confluence for an Engineering Wiki
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to customize the layout of each page, as well as the search feature are huge benefits from some of the other wiki software that we've used. In addition, we use many other atlassian products, and the integration between Confluence and these other products is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool does not force consistency in formatting and style between internal pages. This puts a huge burden on the owner of the pages to handle consistency issues on their own. This has not worked for our company, especially with personnel turnover. I would also say that there could be deeper integration with JIRA. One of the big recommendations for new engineers is that they search for information in both confluence and JIRA. This isn't a huge deal, but it would be more intuitive to only search in a single place. Furthermore, unfortunately, code comments tend to be the best source of documentation for old code. Therefore, deeper integration with Fisheye could also be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're trying to solve the issue of knowledge availability. We have many employees that have many many years of domain knowledge. We've been slowly moving knowledge out of their heads, and into the wiki. This help new hires build their own knowledge, and find answers on their own.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend switching to confluence if you already use other Atlassian products, the integration with other products is hugely helpful.
Great way to organize documentation
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to share pages with other clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tagging system and search needsite to be improved
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Starting information with clients is easy
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Na
Pilot it if your not too sure
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to collaborate on developing project assets. Capturing meeting minutes, to assigning action items, to building product specs, confluence takes project managing to a whole new level
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup is a challenge. Once the setup has been completed properly, it is a breeze to use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business problem - encourage more collaboration among the diverse players in the team as they come together to build the product. Benefit realized has been the seamless and easy communication and collaboration,
It's the integrations that make this great
What do you like best about the product?
When writing a document, I use a log of macros, sections and other integrations (with JIRA and Gliffy for example) to make my documentation happen. I used to have a team in which we used the collaboration features heavily and the inline commenting was great, but I am not using this anymore. The east of use for simple team collaboration and documenting complex issues, is great, too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficult to navigate once documents are authored. I would wish for more inline display and maybe even editing of documents. It is i.e. cumbersome that we have to create JPGs or PNGs for every layered imagery we want to document.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team documentation, feature documentation, wiki, team collaboration, reporting, project management, product management
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Discuss structure and naming convention for headlines and page names before starting to open confluence up to the bigger user group.
Confluence - Great tool for Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
- Good central location for our company wiki
- Great existing templates to start different types of documents such as How-To articles, Decision Register, etc
- I like the fact that you can check Edit history and retrieve previous versions
- Lots of great integrations such as JIRA bug linking
- Love the macros that can be used

What do you dislike about the product?
- Formatting options are limited such as when trying to reduce the line spacing, I couldn't find many options
- Use of macros is very confusing at times, and it could be better presented so that the user experience is improved
- Email notification format can be improved

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
While working with several team members some of whom are responsible for coding/development where as others are responsible for relaying information to clients, Confluence makes it easy for the team to reference a central location for information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go ahead and use Confluence. My team and I have found great value in it.
It definitely requires you to stay organized but overall I find great value in the product

Great Documentation Portal that is easy to use for Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to customize project spaces into really whatever you want via the page structure, attachments, and macros that are built in. It is very easy to use to store documentation over a larger project and easy find/reference past info which is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cloud version of confluence has problems at times with bugs from Atlassian that range from page editing, collaborative editing, & general problems saving updates.
I really wish there was an offline version of confluence as I cannot always be online while using it but Atlassian 'did not design it this way'
The UI could use an overhaul for the cloud version, it looks quite dated.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We document and plan projects using confluence and Jira together. It is very helpful to give dedicated team spaces within projects that turn into HUBs and ultimately document and track all attachments/deliverables for projects. It also stores all communication with version history that I really like.
Confluence allows for us to work together without always being in meetings/conference calls.
Confluence allows for us to work together without always being in meetings/conference calls.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not plan to use it if you need to be able to work in offline mode as that is def. not possible and it gets old copy/pasting notes or deliverables back into confluence.
Confluence makes live team coordination and organization easier
What do you like best about the product?
I like the integration with other applications (ex., JIRA) and the ability to work in a shared space with my coworkers. The features that allow me to save resources and information for efficient access make my job easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, navigation is trickier than I would like--finding the information I'm looking for in searches, etc is not always successful. Things get hidden!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With confluence, I am able to more effectively communicate with my team members important information and resources in a secure, organized, and efficient manner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your team needs a better way to coordinate and uses a lot of tools already, Confluence makes everyones' lives easier.
Solid way to collaborate and share knowledge
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Confluence is a great way for a department to organize and share information with those in our department and outside. And since we already use JIRA it's integration makes it all the easier to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence has good editing tools for a page, but if there was a downside I would say page management can be a pain. The user interface is a bit clunky when trying to move a page from one section to another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication is the simplest answer here. Originally we created confluence as a way to share information within our department, but quickly realized that it's also a powerful tool for sharing with others.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are already using JIRA I can't imagine using something else
