Great Way To Share Information Across Teams

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence for the most part is very easy to use and offers quite a few add-ons (Gliphy, Markdown, etc) to help further enhance content.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not always clear to which parent a child page will show up, which has led to some interesting relations. Also the default color palette for text isn't very large.
It would also be nice if documents could be worked on simultaneously by multiple users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem we solve using Confluence is that of making sure different teams within the same company are able to share knowledge with each other.
Using Confluence, we have a convenient place where employees can search for a topic relating to any team and read up on any existing data for that topic. This makes integration of different parts for a project go much smoother.

Excellent Product for Knowledge Sharing

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very low barrier to entry - easy to setup, simple to add documents or pages - great tagging. It's also a great tool to notify colleagues of new articles - simply use @ and type in their username - boom they're notified. Want to add a word document? Simply drag and drop the item into the web page.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with confluence is pretty easy with their API, however integration with certain things (Sharepoint) for example requires purchasing an app. It's unfortunate that some of these items need to be purchased in addition to the package in general.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a KB that was accessible to our teams and easy to add/edit. If the item was hard to use, adoption would not work. Confluence has solved this problem. We have well documented business processes that are updated on a fairly regular basis. When a new employee comes onboard they can reference confluence and get up to speed quickly. It's a very efficient tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend confluence if you are looking for a tool which is easy to setup, integrates with most LDAP deployments and can enable enterprise wide knowledge sharing.

Great for Collaboration

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the integration between Confluence and Jira.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that it's tough to format certain types of pages using HTML
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a large team running multiple project and keeping track of emails becomes impossible. Confluence helps keep everyone's work and documentation transparent
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's expensive but the interface is intuitive and it's great for collaboration between developers and project managers

An okay platform for organizing for team collaboration and project management

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a decent platform for documenting, discussing and following up on the execution of various ideas. Personally, I have only used it for marketing projects, for which it seems to be sufficient in terms of capabilities.

I find it very useful that Confluence is integrated with Jira, which makes tracking the progress of an idea into a task into a completed project very easy and transparent.

The possibility to "watch" a specific page/space is also neat - it gives you the opportunity to stay in the loop even if you are not actively involved with that particular project.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, Confluence feels like Excel - it has way too many functionalities that you would never think of using. In my opinion, these clutter the platform and make it not-so-user-friendly. This is also the reason it takes quite some time to get used to Confluence and make the most of it. There are for example 10+ types of new pages that you can create, and I find most of them to be redundant.

The same goes for macros and presets within pages - there are so many of them available that I haven't used even half of them (and will probably never use them).

Personal spaces seem to lack privacy - by default, all newly created pages in the so-called personal spaces are set to "Unrestricted" - that means that everyone on the team can see them if they go to your space or search for a keyword. The opposite default setting with the possibility to share the page afterwards would make a lot more sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lining out ideas, discussing them and moving forward with their implementation without the need of exchanging millions of emails or sitting in endless meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are not going to develop very complex and many-fold projects/ideas, Confluence may be a tad too complicated and you may want to look for a simpler, more straight-forward project management system.

Very useful team collaboration platform

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In my opinion, Concluence is a really easy to use platform that helps me communicate and collaborate efficiently. It has great support, a wide variety of integration with other platforms and one of my favorite features is the ability to see the history of changes on each worksheet, this means that the user is able to see who did the last updates on what the team is working on.
What do you dislike about the product?
The design and layout of Confluence looks a bit outdates and simplistic. It lacks a more modern visual and even though that is not a major problem, it is something to keep in mind. I also dislike Confluence's pricing system, I find it a little too expensive and it can become a risky investiment for smaller companies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was having a hard time organizing all my documents and spreadsheets with my employees and Confluence made it much easier. Also, the search feature really makes it easier to look up older documents.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommond using Confluence's wide range of integrations with other platforms such as Jira and Hipchat to facilitate the collaboration between team members.

Confluence Review

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes it easier when working with multiple people on one project. Everyone can put their updates and notes in one area which makes less room for error.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is SO much that it can do that it can sometimes be confusing. I usually stick to what I know.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is a great tool that helps us get everyone's updates, notes, etc in one place when working on different pieces of a project. Sometimes its hard for everyone to get on the same page so when I go to confluence I can see everything right there in front of me without having to chase everyone down to get their notes. Another thing this is great for is even combining notes from calls and strategy when other people are on the call.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that everyone on your team is using it, otherwise it really doesn't serve its entire purpose. If you can get everyone from different departments even (really anyone who touches the project or whatever you are working on) to use confluence this is a really great tool. It makes everyone's jobs easier and smoother. IT leaves a lot less room for error, too. So I would recommend making sure your company and yourself are properly trained on how to use it and where it will benefit you as a company.

Confluence Wiki

  • January 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Give permissions to different groups and have individuals within those groups create a hierarchy documentation structure.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I import documents such as word or pdf it is not as good of quality as the external imported document. Same with exporting the document.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation for internal process and procedures.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely a great product. For large organizations, plan out the groups and group owners.

Great project management tool

  • January 23, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to see what edits have been made on a specific page and getting real-time emails that someone has edited a page that I've been following/editing myself.
What do you dislike about the product?
I need more formal training on the software but I feel like the site could look more user-friendly and modern. The look is quite 'older' and traditional for a website.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence to track the implementing of new projects and clients that we work with. It allows every department to have their own page that can link elsewhere so communication/updates are transparent and open.

You can @mention people which make it easy to send notifications to colleagues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go through a systems training with colleagues within your company. I'd like to learn more about the tips and tricks of the site so I can be an even more efficient user of the site.

Familiarize yourself with how to create Meeting Agendas and to track various project tasks you are working with. I love the meeting agenda tool!

Easy to setup and syncs with Jira and Hipchat.

  • January 23, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it syncs with other systems we already use. Great place to combine decision making and tracking for all groups.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the interface seems outdated and needs updating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want a central place for conversation and decision making tracking. All users can have access to information needed.
