What do you like best about the product?
We used ms word or google docs for the requirements and design documentation. Since confluence has been well integrated in JIRA, Agile boards and the rest of atlassian products we have moved to document all our design and requirements in there. It becomes very simple to click through he tickets to the main requirements and also collaborate on changes while they are being made.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the base service is feature rich. If you do need extra plug-ins, the pricing for market place plug-ins can get a bit out of control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation

When we manage our dev task with Jira, it can just linked naturally by specifying the ticket number
What do you dislike about the product?
I have to click save on purpose. sometimes the browser crashes and I lost what i typed
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Production requirement documentation. Structured and able to link to the tech tasks
Recommendations to others considering the product:
it's a good documentation tools if Jira is used as well.

What do you like best about the product?
It's ease of use and ability to copy/paste from MS office tools helps in migration of your documentations too

Formatting is a part I dislike. Though it has some good formatting options it doesnt help in copying the formatting option like MS office tool does

A great tool for knowledge sharing and management

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is an easy way to organize and categorize our internal and external knowledge. It is currently used as the content management system for our Knowledge Base. The available plug-ins and user friendliness of the platforms are fantastic with regard to easily documenting our products and processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search feature can return inaccurate results. Additionally, I feel like there aren't many integrations available for Confluence and existing integrations can be difficult to configure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base. Confluence has been great for knowledge management and knowledge sharing within teams and across the organization.

Essential internal collaboration tool

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to use and easy to get new team members up to speed on how to author on our internal wikis. User interface is clean and easy on the eyes. Good support and passionate user base makes it easy to get answers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Simultaneous editing by multiple users with saving on the fly keeps Confluence from being quite as awesome as, say, Google Docs for collaboration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A central repository for software development information: time lines, test cases, development notes, obstacles, screen shots, whatever.

Excellent stack, always recommend to my colleagues and friends!

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Full stack integration experience and very well documented. Confluence is also very well integrated into the entire Atlassian stack, customization and user control are also very well implemented and easy to use. Atlassian as a company also has been heading to the right direction with their software offerings and updates. Plugins in Confluence can also significantly customize your wiki experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Specific features within Confluence are lacking such as the syntax, WYSIWYG editors need more work to make the included editor easier to use. Editor UI is sometimes weird when using page split features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developing software and delivering software in a uniform platform has always been a challenge, especially with documentation. With Confluence, we can fill all our documentation needs be it the developers, the BAs, or our target audiences. We can also control this information and accessibility very very finely!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I fully recommend Confluence because it is a very powerful documentation software for both developers and business analysts. One could integrate the use of Confluence for all colleagues within the organization, and Confluence would satisfy the needs for both regular and power users.

Nice Integration with JIRA

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very light weight and well integrated product. This product is ideal for agile teams as overhead to maintain documents is very minimal. The best thing I like about it is the tight integration with JIRA. One can create a summary report in confluence, link with JIRA stories and when the status of the JIRA stories change, it automatically gets reflected in the confluence summary report
What do you dislike about the product?
To use the excel editing function, you need to be on the IE browser. there is no built in calendar support that is very easy to use. You have to pay for the calendar function separately. It should ideally be included in the core package
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
openness within team. This has definitely solved the problem of openness as all information, including our meeting notes are captured in confluence

Works well for virtual communication

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence worked very well for working with our vendor partner in a co-development situation. It's much more difficult for us to get them access to our on-prem tools like our SharePoint site
What do you dislike about the product?
No a full blown document sharing system. No check in/check out etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used primary for documentation shared with a vendor we were doing software co-development with.
