Flexible and complete tool for issue management

  • January 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The capacity to adjust the workflow and to configure the platform to organisation process.
The platform is complete and allows a good management.
Integrates with several platforms is a good feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
The usability can be improved and more appealing.
The reporting part may be improved having more standard useful reports .
The testing part is weak - we had tried an add-in - zephyr and didn't work so well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Issue management and the team is now testing as a help desk tool to clients.

Nice interface, but a bit of a learning curve from Redmine

  • January 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Used Redmine for a number of years and recently switched to Confluence. The best aspect of it is the user interface - extremely clean and responsive, and easy to find what I need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the terminology differs a lot from Redmine, and the flowchart view confuses more than clarifies in my opinion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking development for an enterprise eCommerce site. It works well for what we use it for, but we probably aren't tapping its full capabilities.

Fairly well featured information repository

  • January 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Has the organizational design to be a master resource when properly used and maintained. Definitely can be a go-to instruction manual, making it easier for new employee onboarding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Stale information isn't purged or marked automatically. Like all socially-constructed information repositories, it's only as good as the resources maintaining it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coming into my job, I had to quickly learn how to set up the drivers, server addresses, and relational database connections to do SQL / data mining operations. This served as a valuable help guide.

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's is very flexible, but still has some structure
What do you dislike about the product?
Some pieces are a little unintuitive. It's fine once you figure it out, but there is a little bit of a learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is where our product building process gets turned into projects. Everything we build starts here.

Great collaboration tool

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a great tool for use to be able to collaborate on ideas and easily share useful information with our whole team.
Integrated with JIRA, we can track why we are doing projects and what the progress is in those efforts.
Excellent tool to utilize for on-boarding new employees.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike with Confluence. Easy to create, reorganize, and the add-ons available really enhance the pages that you can create.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One place to share and store all of our documentation. Easily create meeting notes and tasks for team members. Calendars keep everyone up to date on who is traveling and who is on PTO.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Integrates superbly with JIRA for integrating your development efforts with the documentation that is driving you to those decisions.

Love this for specs and requirements

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the layouts they offer. We have 3 product managers and that means that our specs and requirements need to be very similar so there is consistency. Confluence offers layouts and really good organization so that we can keep all of our project specs organized by release.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I want to copy and paste from confluence to JIRA it loses the formatting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the need for one place to house all of the specs and a place to start spec'ing projects without putting them in JIRA. We are much more organised and at anytime any one in the organisation can see what we are working on.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy of editing, It''s like a corporate wikipedia
What do you dislike about the product?
Some things and navigation are cmplex to find and manage
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it as a long term goal check, by filling up articles of these goals. It's good to keep everybody on track asynchronously

Too customizable

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like best that you can use full formatting and html. Confluence functions like a wiki to store information for everyone to see. You must share this information with the right people though, for it to work.
What do you dislike about the product?
It easily buries information. The email notifications are so frequent and meaningless that the first thing everyone did was hide them in a separate outlook folder--therefore notifications are totally and completely broken. No one knows what changes are made in confluence unless they review them manually. If they do not, and you want a teammate to see a change or update to a page, you must manually send them the link through email. So why aren't we just using google drive, again? is a question I constantly ask, especially since we quit using Hipchat.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving educational technology problems. confluence does act as a partial documentation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
unless you're using hipchat and jira or other atlassian products, not really worht it.

great collaborative tool for support and development

  • January 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is great as it ties into JIRA and all other Atlassian tools (which you can use for any type of software development firm) and you can use it for support and requirements documentation as well as create it as a collaborative place to input ideas and show progress of projects. Also a great place to put your meeting notes or even create a page for your team to combine helpful docs or share information.
What do you dislike about the product?
The formatting options are not the best for creating documents. It is slightly limited but works for the most part. Not much to dislike as I have used this product for at least 4 years now and the only thing I ever feel like an improvement is needed was the formatting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving any production support issues and any gaps that need to be filled between development and support. Confluence definitely closes those gaps and documentation is a need for software development.
