Great team collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to all work on the same page and see each other's edits. It has lots of templates and can have text, wire frames, requirements, etc. It can also link to jira tickets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's difficult to navigate. When bringing in outside customers to share pages if they don't use the tools in their own company they get confused. It's very easy to get 100 emails about changes in a day, but it takes some looking to remove the notification
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work remotely so it's necessary to have a central location to store things. We can all see/add/edit pages and contribute as if we were in the same room working on a whiteboard
As Effective As You Make It
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence has some really great macros built into it that make creating and maintaining usable product documentation a lot easier. For instance, macros that allow for searching within a page and its child pages only are great for helping make our guides usable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no easy way to copy both a page AND it's child pages to a new location. Also, the exporting to PDF or Word features are very basic and buggy - images are often lost in the export. This causes issues when you want to provide print copies of a document to someone; I have had to spend 12+ hours recreating Word documents rather than a simple export that preserves formatting (and doesn't lose images)! You pretty much have to get plug-ins for everything.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence for creating, managing, and distributing our software product documentation. Confluence cuts down on the amount of time one would spend doing the same thing with Word documents. It's easy to search for the information you need in Confluence, and it's much more accessible (but in a version-controlled manner) than maintaining old documents on a shared drive. Best of all, I can access documentation from anywhere because it's web-based; I do not need to VPN in to get to my documents.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Allocate budget to purchase plug-ins to get the full functionality you will need to best benefit from Confluence.

A wonderful product for Non-profits!
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a collaboration platform that has amazing integrations into other systems. As a non-profit we receive massive discounts on the platform and apps we use, which allows us to really expand the way we work and do even greater things for less.
The flexibility of the system, along with the easy to use interface is a big bonus.

Confluence for tech docs
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to collaborate on technical documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like a little more configuration options for the page layouts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making technical documentation available to distributed teams, consistent formats for documentation, templating of technical documentation
Useful but hard to corral a large number of users
What do you like best about the product?
Versioning and history tracking are useful, however, even minor changes that no one cares about get picked up in history.

Lots of ways to format and link pages and content

Lots of ways to format and link pages and content
What do you dislike about the product?
As the organization has grown, it's gotten harder to manage content standards and therefore, the usefulness of the content.
1. Search is still pretty unwieldy - often difficult to find the content needed
2. It would be great if there was an easy way to see what contents and topics exist, organize and move content around.
