Confluence

  • October 03, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease with which you can create and share content. The look and feel of the interface. Confluence provides a refined UI with nice touches. The marcos are easy to use and become second nature. Support is excellent and the application has been remarkably stable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike in the context of our requirements. Areas where enhancements would be most useful include integration with major file sharing services such as Box and OneDrive. There are plugins for Box and Google Drive but they need improvement. Integration with external calendars such as Exchange would be nice. It might be available with Atlassian's Calendar app but that is too expensive for us. We'd also like to see easier integration between cloud-host HipChat and server/local-hosted Confluence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge sharing within our organization was the number issue we sought to address through our Confluence implementation. We've accomplished that thanks in large part to the use of Confluence. As with any other project user and leadership buy-in were more critical. However, in this case, software did not get in the way and actually helped us because of it's functionality and design.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out all the other apps that might fit your requirements. Consider your resources and requirements. What works for one organization might not for another. WE started with close to 20 candidates and honed in on 4. Confluence was our top pick after vigorous review baed on our needs and resource availability.

Easy-to-use collaboration tool

  • September 06, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's really easy-to-use and pick up, and doesn't require a lot of effort to get going. You can go with an Atlassian hosted solution if you want to get up and running as quickly as possible, or go with an on-premise solution if you want maximum flexibility. It also integrates very well with JIRA and it's multitude of plugins, so there is a lot of flexibility in extending functionality. The price is also very reasonable so very low barrier to entry when it comes to getting going.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the plugins aren't best in breed, but that's not really the fault of the software itself. As a collaboration tool, it could do better with management of documents and integration with other tools such as SharePoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it as a collaboration tool between internal staff and external users as well. It's great as a central repository of information and documentation on software development projects. We initially went with the hosted version but have moved to an on-premise solution for the added flexibility. The migration was pretty painless, so another added benefit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you have all of your integration requirements defined and ensure that they are met before diving in. There is rudimentary SharePoint integration, but nothing that is considered groundbreaking.

Amazing tool for team collaboration and for Wiki

  • September 05, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence can be used for several purposes like team collaboration, project documentation and knowledge base.

The software usability is great with a clean (low screen pollution) and responsive layout. When you first use it you may think it is already familiar (it remembers wiki softwares and the famous wikipedia).

It is a reliable software with large community. It means that Confluence works smoothly (without bugs).

Another important aspect is the ease to install. There is a version available for local deployment or you can use it on the cloud. When deploying it hosted on cloud by Atlassian you can get it working in a few clicks and start working with your team.

What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of a free version (you just have a trial version).
Despite of good usability, there are a lot of functionalities that you may take some time to find (or to discover) and use it.
There are also some problems with the portuguese translation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation of several projects with team collaboration. We also use it to share files and to build a knowledge base to solve some of ours internal problems and to provide Wiki functionality for clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should first use the trial version to check if it is what you are looking for. Confluence is a powerful and reliable software that delivers what is promised and can be suitable for several of your needs.
If you use some others products from Atlassian like Jira it can be easily integrated to Confluence.

Your knowledge repository

  • September 02, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create all sort of documents easily and to integrate rich content into the page you create.
The organization capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The global look & feel appears a bit old and could be more attractive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to organize and durably store the technical knowledge and information that is generated on a daily basis
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For the tool to be effective, it needs to become an automatism for your team and you need to use it systematically whenever information needs to be stored. It is also good to integrate it with other tools (from atlassian or not)

    Internet

What do you like best about the product?
We use Confluence as a database of all our important sharing technical docs and also to integrate into Jira to make lookup of this information easy. It works great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes not as intuitive as it should be and relies on permissions too much sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are sharing information amongst team members to solve problems faster.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you use Jira and want integration of knowledge sharing this is an easy choice.

Confluence use as office Wiki

  • August 16, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Confluence in our working environment is the share-ability and ease of access for all employees to add, edit, and manage company policies and information. This makes accessing documents and information quick and easy for most employees, both remotely and in-office.
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence is not as user-friendly as we had hoped. It takes a good bit of time to familiarize yourself with how to create, format, and edit information in a clear manner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
By using Confluence, we have solved a common problem of "how are we going to organize all of this information?" We are able to keep basic financial records, company documents and information all together in one place. The benefits are that it provides us with a quick and convenient way to inform new employees of our company's systems and procedures in an orderly manner.
