Easy to use cloud based CAT-tool
What do you like best about the product?
Memsource is a cloud-based TMS.
You can keep your resources stored and you can assign them to new translation projects. You have most of the functionality of a CAT-tool, such as translation memories, termbases and even machine translation plug-ins.

What do you dislike about the product?
Memsource is not really a TMS, but more a CAT-tool with additional functionality.
It would be a good fit for translation departments in larger companies that localize inhouse and occasionally have to outsource some volume.
For a translation company, there is quite some lack of functionality you may find in other CAT-tools.
Also, there is no floating licensing system. So you will have to buy the same number of licenses as there are project managers. In regards to other CAT-tools that have floating licensing available, this is a big bummer.
Instead of expanding on TMS related and MT related functions, I think Memsource should focus more to add some basic functions such as:
- Import comments from bilingual RTF (Word) files on reimport. No these are not imported. So if a client reviews the translation outside Memsource, you will need to add all comments manually to save them in the system.
- Export Memsource comments to the translated Word file. Comments created in Memsource are not exported to any of the finalized files. So you will need to add them separately. This works if you have only a few comments, but not if you have to add 50 or more comments. All the other major CAT tools have this function for MS Office files.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have noticed that Memsource is easy to use for translators that are not used to working with CAT-tools.
The translators do not need to buy anything and can just work with it in the cloud or with the desktop-app.
Also, we have some clients that use Memsource internally and they send us Memsource projects. So these need to be handles in Memsource.

Most Efficient CAT Tool that There Is
What do you like best about the product?
Memsource is a powerful tool that is extremely fast and easy to use while offering advanced features, such as compatibility with regex expressions. It also works in Linux!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is virtually nothing I dislike about Memsource. However, perhaps we should have the ability to change the font.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translation compliance with client feedback is ensured with regex expressions that can be applied both to source and target search fields. Ease of use helps the translation team save time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Most CAT tools out there can be very taxing on the user's system and not easy to use. Due to being lightweight, Memsource runs well on virtually any computer. And because it is very easy to use, time spent on training is minimal.

The free nature of the tool, that offers many benefits without payment
What do you dislike about the product?
The tag issues and the lags that occur through the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy translation memory creation
MTPE training
What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Memsource for more than 3 years now and I have to say that after the MTPE training organized by Memsource I learned about a lot of new features that could make my work much easier and faster.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I dislike about Memsource is the QA which sometimes detects issues that aren't ones. Other than that, Memsource is an extremely easy and efficient tool to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mainly use Memsource as a translator and proofreader, and Memsource has helped me maintain consistent terminology throughout texts and projects thanks to its term base.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it. Worth it.
I like Memsource
What do you like best about the product?
The way that tags are inserted (with F8) turns out to be the fastest and most practical way, compared to other CAT tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. When transferring the fuzzy result from the fuzzy window to the target window, the behaviour is not always the same. Sometimes (1) the content already in the target window is deleted and REPLACED with the content from the fuzzy window, some other times (2) the fuzzy content is ADDED to the target content. Most CAT tools have behaviour (1), while Across has behaviour (2). Both behaviours have advantages and disadvantages. Memsource is confusing, because its behaviour is unpredictable (I think).
2. There is problem when adding a word to the spelling dictionary. First of all, when a word is rejected by the spell checker a menu appears. Several options to correct the word appear, but alternative spellings takes about two seconds to appear. Exactly after two seconds I want to click on the option "Add to dictionary" but, exactly on that moment, at that place appears an alternative spelling, and I mistakenly click on that one. This problem can be corrected by placing the option "Add to dictionary" as the FIRST option, instead of the last one, as it is now.
3. After adding a word to the spelling dictionary, the spell checker still rejects that same word if it starts with an initial capital letter. There is no possibility to add the same word with the capital first letter. Anyway, it should be accepted with an initial capital letter.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I simply use that CAT tool that my customer suggests me to use.
Very useful tool for linguists
What do you like best about the product?
It has everything a linguist needs to translate, edit, and post-edit, with the options to customize every little detail, including punctuation in different languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be a great idea to have it set itself up depending on the language in terms of punctuation, among other things. For example, even though most projects I work with are English-Spanish, I have to set up the proper quotation marks every time. Also, the tags should be easier to work with every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been delivering projects in many work fields, and it is incredible to notice how broad the vocabulary we can find is. The CAT tool is also able to translate almost perfectly in many situations.

What do you like best about the product?
actually, I prefer SDL Studio, despite your efforts to prove the benefits of Memsource
What do you dislike about the product?
I used to be SDL Trados fan from early 2005. Perhaps my brain already adjusted to its interface. I use Memsource only if my client requests it, however, if I have a right to choose myself, I do always go for SDL Studio.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it only in case my client requires it. It is annoying Memsource TM is online, and a translator does not have a copyright.
