One Shared View That Keeps Our Team Aligned and Version-Safe
What do you like best about the product?
Assigning sections, tracking who’s done what, leaving feedback, and signing off on answers it all lives in the same place. The days of attaching Word docs to emails and crossing your fingers that nobody saves over the wrong version are completely behind us. Now the whole team works from one shared view, and everyone always knows exactly where things stand.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slide generation isn’t quite there yet. After a submission, we usually put together a briefing deck for internal stakeholders, and for now that’s still a manual task. Given how much structured content already exists inside Steerlab by that point, an export-to-slides feature would feel like a natural and genuinely useful addition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anyone who’s managed proposals on a shared drive knows the feeling: you open the file and immediately wonder whether you’re even looking at the right version. We’d have two or three people working in the same document, and inevitably someone’s edits would disappear—or worse, quietly overwrite someone else’s. Hours of careful writing, just gone. After it happened enough times, we stopped being surprised and started building extra time into the schedule to account for the chaos. That’s not a workflow; that’s damage control. Steerlab put an end to it: one place, one version, and no more archaeology to figure out what the final answer actually was.
Clean Interface and Frictionless Onboarding That Saves Real Hours
What do you like best about the product?
I’ve used enough proposal tools to know that a clean interface is never a given. With Steerlab, everything is simply where you’d expect it to be—no wandering through settings, and no decoding terminology that only makes sense to whoever built the tool. We had someone new join mid-bid recently, and they were contributing the same day without anyone having to sit with them. No guide, no walkthrough, nothing.
When you’re managing deadlines and coordinating a full team, that kind of frictionless onboarding isn’t just a nice-to-have; it genuinely saves you hours. It’s also one of those benefits you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve dealt with the alternative.

What do you dislike about the product?
The Chrome extension works well across most portals, but there’s one regional platform we use that still isn’t supported. It’s not a dealbreaker—the team has confirmed it’s on the roadmap—but for now it does mean the occasional manual workaround in the meantime.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our previous tool was technically capable, but in practice it was miserable to use. The interface fought you at every step; people avoided it not because they didn’t want to use it, but because simply opening it made even basic tasks feel unnecessarily difficult. As a result, they drifted back to doing things manually, which defeated the whole point. When software is harder than the work it’s supposed to simplify, adoption doesn’t fail loudly—it just fades away. Steerlab fixed that by being straightforward and easy to work with.
Steerlab’s Excel Support Handled Our Messy Files Flawlessly
What do you like best about the product?
Excel support was genuinely the deciding factor for us. We had around 500 question files with the kind of formatting that makes most tools give up merged cells, nested tabs, and inconsistent structures. Every other platform we tested either choked on them or mangled the output. Steerlab handled them without complaint and came out the other side with clean results. That alone justified the switch for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slack’s approval workflow exists, but right now it feels fairly surface-level. For simple, straightforward sign-offs it gets the job done, but anything with more nuance still ends up pulling me back into the main app. Adding more depth here would make a real difference and meaningfully cut down on the context switching.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vendor questionnaires used to be something our team genuinely dreaded. Not because of the questions themselves, but because of the state the files arrived in: bizarre layouts, broken formatting, and columns that made no logical sense. Getting them into a workable state often took longer than actually answering them. That cleanup burden is completely gone now. We can open the file and start working right away, which is how it always should have been.
Steerlab Supercharged Our RFP & Security Questionnaire Responses
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Steerlab for about 6 months, and it has significantly improved our team handles RFPs and security questionnaires. The AI assisted response generation is very effective, especially when working with repetitive questions. It can generate a large portion of answer using existing content, which saves our team a lot of time
What do you dislike about the product?
While the AI is helpful, some responses still need manual review to ensure accuracy, especially in highly technical or customized sections. There’s a slight learning curve when you first set up the content library and workflows, but it gets easier to manage over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before using Steerlab, responding to RFPs and security questionnaires was time consuming and require a lot of manual effort. Now , we are able to complete responses much faster and with better consistency.
A Self-Maintaining Content Library That Keeps Answers Getting Better
What do you like best about the product?
Every approved answer feeds straight back into the content library automatically, and anything that’s gone stale gets flagged before it turns into a problem. Since we started, I haven’t had to touch the library manually even once, and yet the quality of the answers has only improved over time. It basically maintains itself, which might sound simple, but it’s genuinely rare.
What do you dislike about the product?
A handful of very specific word-formatting edge cases still need a light touch after export. It’s minor and doesn’t come up often, but it’s worth knowing. The latest release is apparently meant to address this, although I haven’t had the chance to verify it firsthand yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our answer library was always lagging behind. No one had the bandwidth to keep it up to date, so it slowly drifted, and proposals would go out with product descriptions that were a year out of date. We only realized how bad it had gotten when a client pointed it out. Steerlab closed that gap without adding any extra overhead. Now the library stays current on its own, and we no longer worry about which version of the truth we’re submitting.
Fast setup zero friction
What do you like best about the product?
Honestly, I went in with low expectations, because day-one new tools rarely hit the ground running. But by mid-morning we had our data sources connected, and before the afternoon was out we already had a real, working draft in front of us. There was no IT involvement, no phased setup, and no sitting around waiting for access to be provisioned. That kind of immediacy matters more than people give it credit for. When active bids are on the line, every day spent onboarding is a day your competitors aren’t standing still. Steerlab just removes that gap completely.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Slack alerts are timely and genuinely useful, but the handoff still means I have to jump back into the main app to finish an approval. It’s a small point of friction in what is otherwise a smooth, fluid process, and being able to close that loop entirely within Slack would be a truly helpful upgrade.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The platform we used before took weeks to get off the ground. By the time we were finally set up, we’d already missed opportunities and the team had lost momentum—basically a quarter of our productivity gone before we’d written a single response. That experience made us much more deliberate when evaluating tools. Steerlab was the first one that didn’t make us pay an entry fee in lost time just to get started.
Transparent AI is the only kind worth using
What do you like best about the product?
Every suggested answer traces back to a specific paragraph in the source document not just a vague reference, the exact passage. And when it can't find a strong match, it tells you that too. That kind of honesty is rare in AI tooling, and it's precisely why we feel confident using it for regulated submissions where every answer has to be defensible.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Chrome extension doesn't yet cover a couple of the smaller procurement platforms we occasionally work with. Coverage is solid overall - this is a minor gap, not a dealbreaker, but it's worth knowing going in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our previous tool gave us AI suggestions with no way to trace where they came from. In an audit, that's not just unhelpful it's a liability. Steerlab replaced that uncertainty with a clear paper trail for every single answer. Now when someone ask how we arrived at a response, we can show them exactly.
Switched from Loopio and don't miss it
What do you like best about the product?
We spent 2 years on Loopio before making the switch to Steerlab. The AI is noticeably better, Excel handling isn't even a comparison, and the interface is clean enough that the team picked it up faster than we anticipated. When a migration goes that smoothly, you know you made the right call.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Slack integration works well for notifications, but the in Slack approval workflow feels like it has more room to grow. It gets your partway there just not all the way yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our content library had quietly gone stale, and the AI was surfacing outdated answers often enough that it became a real trust issue. Every suggestion needed a second look. Steerlab fixed that the answers it pulls are current, and the team can actually rely on them.
Designed for Bid Managers: Strong Workflows and Tracking
What do you like best about the product?
Most RFP software feels like it was built for sales teams and then shoehorned into proposals an afterthought. Steerlab is different, you can tell it was designed with bid managers in mind from the start. The workflows and tracking features aren't bolted on. They actually reflect how this work gets done.
What do you dislike about the product?
Word exports are generally reliable, but one heavily formatted template gave us grief. Worth flagging though the team shipped a patch for it shortly after, which shows they're paying attention.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were running a serious bid operation on tools that were never meant for it. Spreadsheets, project boards, email threads, stitched together and called a system. It worked until it didn't. Steerlab replaced all of that with something actually built for the job.
Import any format and get to work
What do you like best about the product?
Government RFPs don't arrive in clean, tidy formats. You get multi-tab Excel files, word docs full of tracked changes, PDFs with embedded tables the works. Steerlab handles all of it without complaint and gets you straight into responding. No wrestling with the files first.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slide generation would be a welcome addition even something basic. After every major bid, we manually put together a highlights deck, which feels pretty redundant when the content is already there. A simple summary export would save the team real time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to lose half a day just getting documents into a workable state before any actual proposal writing could begin. That entire prep step is gone now. We open the RFP and we are already working.
