Backup solution that works!

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Set up is very easy. With just a few clicks, OwnBackup starts backing up our Salesforce data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Almost nothing to dislike. Just one thing we found out when we received a backup warning. We could see which object was causing the issue, but we couldn't tell the exact record was the culprit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* History of data changes, especially deletion
* Ability to restore past accidental deletion (when they are not in the Recycle Bin anymore)
* Sandbox seeding
Recommendations to others considering the product:
What they demo is what you will get - which is awesome!

Excellent Seamless Data Backup Tool

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OwnBackup seamlessly integrates with my Salesforce Org and backs up my data with little thought and effort on the part of myself or my team. We rely on our data for day-to-day operations. The data backup operates in the background and provides a sense of security for our company in the event of a malicious attack or any accidental deletion of some kind. If there is an interruption of connection of any kind, OwnBackup sends an alert to notify me that the backup or connection has been disrupted and allows me the opportunity to make sure we maintain constant connection to have up to date data at all times.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the additional integrations are quite pricey for a small business, but I have no dislikes of the product itself. All of the integrations my company have used have been easy to use and with have nothing but positive things to say about the product. More tiered pricing plans would be helpful for my growing company. It is difficult to pull the trigger on less vital features like developer org seeding at the current price-point given the number of users we have. Our company has a large number of employees, but our development team is only six users including myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OwnBackup integrates easily with our production and sandbox orgs and provides clear peace of mind that our data is protected under a number of circumstances that could otherwise leave our company dead in the water. We have had incidents in the past where data has been accidentally deleted from our org and had to be manually added back in. With OwnBackup, we can easily restore data with a few clicks in the application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The base level of OwnBackup is very worth the cost. If you can swing the additional expenses, the extra features are very worth the additional cost involved considering the time saved.

Got Backup? Let OwnBackup take away the pain!

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You never want to lose anything that you put your blood sweat and tears into. Now more than ever with Coronavirus and other influences causing people to work from home you need protection for your Salesforce data and metadata! OwnBackup provides a complete backup solution that is easy to use and has won multiple awards. It is so easy to create the backups and see immediate results!
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not had much contact with the OwnBackup team unless I reach out to them. I'd like to be a bit more in touch with my account representative. I am also frustrated that I continue to receive warning emails on a daily basis that I'm backing up specific kinds of metadata. I've been told by OwnBackup that I can just deselect backing up that specific metadata and I'll stop getting the warnings, but I'm not yet convinced that this information will not be needed or helpful in performing a complete restore in the event of a disaster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Salesforce has limited backup ability. It also requires A LOT of work to restore any Salesforce implementation with more than a couple of objects. Besides that, Salesforce has now discontinued providing the option of restoring your data and metadata for you (for a fee). Because we have OwnBackup, we will be able to restore data or metadata with minimal loss and downtime and the price was very fair.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your research and perform a trial/evaluation before you buy it. Also, make sure you look at the ROI of not having a solution or your current solution vs OwnBackup as a solution. Consider getting sandbox seeding - it is another big win if you don't currently have a solution.

OwnBackup in an Unpredictable Time

  • March 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As Salesforce has recently announced, they will be moving away from restoring data that had been lost due to user error. With a majority of our business running through Salesforce, a loss of data could prove catastrophic. With the Assistance of OwnBackup, we can make sure that we as a company are managing our data security and implementing a fail-safe against possible data loss.
What do you dislike about the product?
As of yet, I haven't ran into anything off hand that I feel could improve the system. Everything has run smoothly so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are making sure that our data is saved and constantly backed up.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
With Salesforce opting to no longer offer the service, it is in your company's best interest to find an affordable solution before hand. Waiting until the crisis has happened will always cost you more.

Simple to use. Powerful solution for when you need it

  • March 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to compare backups from day to day. Although this is not a standard use case, I use it all the time as an audit activity and use. Although i could run a report in Salesforce, I love that I can quickly and easily compare backups from one day to another (or week, month or any 2 dates really) and see a quick list of the number of changes, additions and removals of each object.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have been using OwnBackup for about six months so far and I haven't come across anything that I dislike exactly. There is one feature I thought should be available and maybe it is but I haven't figured it out. I would think that if I look at a backup and see a record that was deleted or changed, I could restore that individual record. We used to use a different service and as an admin, I was able to view the changes from within the Salesforce UI and decide to restore there. It was extremely powerful but the rest of their service was lacking in other areas which prompted the switch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are confident that we have off-site backups of all of our Salesforce data and metadata. If a disaster were to happen (a bad import that bypassed sandboxes or an employee deleting data), in a matter of hours, we could be back up and running while only losing minimal data (activity from time of the backup being restored to now) .
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a backup solution, look at everything out there and make your decision based on service and cost. No matter what you choose, make sure you are comfortable with what you are using. I personally am extremely comfortable with OwnBackup and would not want to be with anyone else. Every morning at 7am, I get an email telling me my backups were successful or not. If they are not, it tells me exactly why. Usually this is because new objects/fields created recently have not been added to the backup and this is just a warning. The rest of the data still backed up successfully.

Amazing Tool as a technical Guy

  • March 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OwnBackup helps me a lot when the sandboxes get refreshed or existing functionality get override because of some migration. I can able to retrieve the missed or override file easily through OWN BACKUP. OWN BACKUP helped me a lot in receive times.

Also, Support is fabulous and I can get the answer within a day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Data archiving pricing seems to be a bit higher and for the Product development companies like startups and the employes, less than 100 thinks to suggest the own back archiving for customers because of Data archiving pricing.

Also, it would great if we understand the process of Restore and Replicate in some documents in order to understand the whole process and outputs. As a developer which will guide to showcase to customers the real use of Own backup.

Also, the find tabs are not eased to understand the real use of it in Own backup. Really I don't understand the use of FIND tabs.

Sometimes it takes more time for comparison. Also, it would be great if Ownbackup includes other components as well in comparison. As I cant see Apex Classes, VF Pages, etc..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly when we migration the new functionality from Sandboxes to Sandboxes or to Production the existing functionality would override. In that case, we may face the critical issue from the Business side and pressure from our customers by that time Ownbackup would help us by retrieving the metadata components based on previous Dates and migrate it ASAP.

It's the most benefits tool and helps us in most of our releases.

Sure will do

Power and Simple Tool to Support your SalesForce Environment

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The simple, yet powerful ability to regularly back up your entire SalesForce Environment (objects and metadata) for an extremely affordable price. This tool also eliminates concerns that SalesForce will only backup (and provide to you) standard objects. OwnBackup easily covers the backup of all our objects (both standard and custom), as well as all of the meta data. This allows us to easily restore our production or sandbox environments quickly and with minimal downtime or expensive consulting hours.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some objects, especially as they pertain to 3rd party products, that have some difficulty uploading to OwnBack. We have had a few issues with restoring our UAT environment from our production environment as well. The sales team could have also done a better job initially explaining all of the available features, and completely understanding their product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SalesForces has poor backup capabilities, that really only backup standard objects and data within your environment. Several months back, when SalesForce accidentally gave all users admin settings, they shut everything down. We had to pay some expensive consulting hours for consultants to come in and rebuild our environment and metadata so user roles, custom objects, and everything in between was restored properly. This also took almost a week to restore. OwnBackup customers were able to be back up in a matter of hours.

We currently also back up our data to GCP, but tend to have issues every time an object is modified, or new objects are created. OwnBackup provides a clean, simple, and inexpensive solution to solving many of our data protection problems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you ask a lot of questions around their pricing model and what each feature entails. Especially make sure you understand your organizational needs for frequency and quantity of backing up your objects (e.g. once per day of only 2-3 objects, or 4 times per day for 1 object, etc). The pricing does change based on your back-up needs.
