Bynder Makes DAM Easy

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very easy for our users to learn and navigate quickly, and makes locating and sharing assets simple for even the occasional user, which results in less admin time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Additional functionality add-ons have base and "advanced" levels and the base levels rarely meet our needs which makes the add-ons a lot more expensive in comparison to DAM core cost. Additionally, the base Analytics are really not useful to gain insights as to specific asset and user habits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bynder is our sole center of marketing collateral for our sales, product, support and marketing teams and has significantly reduced the amount of time spent servicing asset requests from enterprise users. We also use Bynder as a document repository for our marketing contracts and invoices.

Efficient with room for a more personalised experience

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Bynder is a great way to keep images stored in one place which can be accessed by multiple members of the team, instead of having files floating around on different PCs or in Google Drives. It also makes applying the same image to different web components (e.g. pods, banners, lead images, thumbnail images) easy to do without having to manually resize or upload different versions of the same image.

Additionally, the 'waiting room' feature in Bynder is particularly useful to us when receiving images from clients. We use this as a replacement for WeTransfer, which means we don't have to worry about receiving files that aren't secure or safe, and we don't have to worry about them expiring after 7 days. It also means that we don't have to then download and manually upload the images to Bynder ourselves, ready to feed into our CMS. Instead, clients can quickly and easily drop their images into Bynder without even having to create an account, and we can then access these directly in the system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unfortunately in a lot of aspects it feels like Bynder is 'almost there' for us, but not quite. More opportunity for personalisation or more flexibility with some of the components would be extremely helpful. For example, while the waiting room as a feature as a whole is great for us, there are some 'fixed' elements which make this quite difficult for us to use on the day-to-day - for example, any files in the waiting room are only displayed by the email address of the person who dropped them, so there's no quick way to navigate what files are related to what project, without individually clicking into each one. When working with such large scales like we are (i.e. receiving hotel images every single day), and often we're working with the same stakeholders which means the same email address might be completing more than one 'drop', this is extremely difficult for us to manage in an efficient way. Having the option to be a bit more flexible/personalised with certain elements like this would make the system a lot more user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great way for us to directly receive images from clients which we can then feed straight into our CMS, rather than having them send us WeTransfers/Google Drive links which we have to download ourselves and upload manually to Bynder. This saves us a great amount of time.

Bynder is also great in letting us apply the same image to different web components with the derivatives - i.e. pods, banners, thumbnails, without us having to manually resize images ourselves and upload them as different files.

Bynder thoughts

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's useful having a hub where we can have all of our images, we can see which email has sent which folder which can make it easier to distinguish. It's much safer than using any other platform, and easy for our contractors/hoteliers to use with the drag and drop concept.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't just search for a name or email address to bring up what image folders they've sent, I have to go through the process of putting the senders in alphabetical order to scroll through which can be really time-consuming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's one place where all the contract managers and hoteliers can put the images, having everything in one hub makes it easier for us to manage. It's also better for us on a security point of view as it's safer using this.

Solid DAM solution

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Bynder solution is a good fit for our needs. It is a solid DAM solution and workflows are very useful to manage the approvals within our organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment we do not have any dislikes to highlight.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have one place globally for our assets to maximize the re-use of assets. Also within the same solution we are able manage all needed approvals as part of the process.

Great Support - Some Missing Features

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The customer service was excellent. Nick and Connor did a great job of answering all my questions; if they didn't know, they followed up promptly. I think the UI is very well done, and the taxonomy workbook and videos were helpful in terms of wrapping my mind around this new concept. The Creative Cloud - LinkrUI tool is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Certain features were missing that seemed necessary. I did not like that the Mass Uploader Tool had no way to detect duplications or would allow undefined metaproperites to go through. The mass uploader tool is not case or space sensitive and can cause near duplicate metaproperites was also a big concern. Due to the lack of guardrails, I have not used the tool, an add-on feature I paid extra for. Copying and pasting the metaproperty name exactly is highly tedious for a tool to make uploading assets faster than the standard front-end uploader.

Additionally, the fact that you cannot merge assets within the DAM itself but must rely on uploading is very disappointing. I want the ability to designate an asset within the DAM to be a version of a different asset. Right now, I am forced to download that asset, then upload it, retag it as a version of another asset, and then delete the original. This process is tedious.

Also, the fact that there is no button to tell the computer that the 'duplicates' it recognizes are different assets is also poorly thought out. It means I have to ignore and not accidentally click on two unduplicated assets every time I use that tool- which increases the risk of user error.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me properly track all assets and see them all at once. By getting out of an antiquated 'folder' structure, I can now see visually and quickly which assets will work best for my work. The analytics will also ensure that I can track if I have used an asset in the past and avoid too much repetition.

Amazing Collaboration & Onboarding

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We worked with Grant on the sales side, and he was able to accommodate multiple changes and help make sure our contract with Bynder had everything we needed. Then we worked with Ben from their onboarding team, and no matter what we needed or how quickly we needed it done, Ben made sure things were done the same day and was by far a great asset and extension of our team during the onboarding period.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside we had with Bynder was the derivates feature; we were doing tests and needed to make many changes to our derivates during the onboarding process, and we had to go back to our rep each time and everything had to be regenerated. I understand the complexity of making changes to derivates; I just wish it was a little more accessible for the customer to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team hosted our assets in multiple places based on which team was using it and what the use case was (one place for social, another for creative services, another for web location, etc.) Bynder helped us create a single source of truth for our assets and reduced the number of duplicates across various locations.

Very user-friendly tool that can be picked up company-wide

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Brilliant customer service support
- Easy to navigate
- Friendly interface
- Robust filtering system for asset search
- Lots of integration opportunities
- Easy to set permissions, and customise these
What do you dislike about the product?
- Limited on custom homepage builds (e.g. lack of options for animation for thunbnails and headers)
- Start-up costs are quite high
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A place to consolidate all our company's assets, and be our one-source of truth for anything brand.
Somewhere to house our brand guidelines, making them interactive.

Overall great just a couple of niggles

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's been great to have all of our assets in one easily-accessible place. The ease of others dropping images into the waiting room has been fantastic, too. It's been a real time saver when updating an asset that is across several pages as it links to Contentful. So it really makes multiple changes a doddle.
What do you dislike about the product?
The waiting room feature is not up to scratch for us. It takes a long time to load and there's no way of finding what we need - no title viewable on each drop, just the email of who has dropped it which isn't great as one person will often make upwards of 50 separate drops so identifying what each folder is is tricky. The filters of dropped by also only show users, not who actually drops into the waiting room.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integration with Contentful has been great for us. Keeping everything in one place and being able to easily access all of our images has been a huge time save in comparison to searching for images/assets in a drive and uploading them to an individual page multiple times. It's also meant our product can be kept up to date much easier!

An easy to use DAM platform for users as well as for admins.

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, great support, good UI, always improving, complementary modules, many useful integrations.
Ease of use and support have got to be the best thing.
Have only used 1 other DAM platform and that one was awful, dated UI, bloated and incomprehensible backend
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing of modules, buggy advanced analytics.
The advanced analytics could be better with more freedom of filters.
Miss having synonyms option for metaproperties.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Self-reliance of users, not having to ask studio or marketing for an asset.
Websites are connected, saving content managers hours updating brochures and documents on sites.
Graphic designers can connect their Creative Cloud documents to Bynder.
Users can now create and improve their Office documents with up-to-date assets from the DAM.

A robust and flexible system

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Bynder is a very easy to use DAM system. The taxonomy and layout is very easy to understand and navigate. Once set up it is very easy to manage. We haven't worked with other DAMs, so can't compare, but this has been a really positive investment for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Changes to the system to accommodate business developments can often be labour-intensive and unwieldy. To have a bulk change facility within the groups would simplify this a lot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The sharing and distribution of materials both internally and with external partners and agencies. It links with our websites and makes the sharing and management much more straight forward.
