A Game-Changer for Creative Assets

  • May 21, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
The onboarding process to Bynder couldn't have gone smoother. Our onboarding specialist, Will, was knowledgeable, thorough, and pleasant. The platform itself is highly customizable. We were able to tailor it to our exact needs and specifications that feels like a custom experience for our company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly have to stretch to answer this question, but the sheer amount of assets we need to get into the platform is overwhelming, which is more our problem than Bynder's. And actually, Bynder has implemented some fantastic bulk-upload features that will make this process go much faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our creative assets before Bynder were unsearchable, uncategorized, and in a state of chaos. With Bynder, we're now able to manage them with a very robust system. I love that we can tag and categorize each asset. We can also create and share collections based on filter criteria, meaning we can slice, share, and group our assets in infinite ways. It's truly a game-changer for our team.

Easy to implement, easy to use - very customer friendly

What do you like best about the product?
Good documentation, easy to implement, taxonomy is easy to handle. I was afraid that our non-tech-employee would not be able to handle Bynder DAM but they are now working on it without any issue!
What do you dislike about the product?
there is nothing to dislike at the moment
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- All Assets in one system
- Versions of different Assets are managed now correctly
- Sharing assets is easy
- Possibility to share files (like WeTransfer) is an added bonus
- Control who has access to the assets
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Taxonomy is the new way of working with Assets, forget folder structures or tags.

Handles it all from asset uploads to workflows for review, change management and version control

What do you like best about the product?
Best aspect of Bynder is the way all of the components interact: we can add an asset via a workflow, apply one of many templates to ensure the right reviewers have visibility, upload a new version with the changes, and then smoothly transition the piece into the asset bank and apply the right metadata to ensure it can easily be found.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only complaint overall is the "glitches" and "bugs" we see in the system. We're using the platform globally, but even within one region on the same OS and using the same browser we'll have performance variations between users. It's difficult to document or replicate bugs when we're dealing with inconsistencies and unexplained errors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bynder provides the answer to our global problem of a central controllable database to house assets and manage releases, archives and notificiations. We're pleased with the user interface, the search capabilities, and the taxonomy, which allows filters and views to ensure users can find the assets they need.

Powerful and flexible solution

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best is the ability to store files and also the easy sharing capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The taxonomy has some loopholes, when combined with the workflow feature, that causes some confusion and miscategorized assets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to easily share large files with our global affiliates. This helps reduce duplication of efforts when you see something has already been created, you don't need to make it yourself.

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to organize assets for broad distribution across the org.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onboarding support seemed a little touch and go -- slow responses, definitely felt like they were relieved to get us out of their hair and passed on to generic support :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Small technical limitations - nothing we can't work around. Still working on global rollout, so benefits are still to be fully realized, but so far, it's much better than our previous solution and we look forward to distributing further.

Bynder Review

What do you like best about the product?
The support and engagement from our customer success manager is great! She is always helpful and quick to respond with answers and solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. A few issues in our portal have been ongoing for extended periods, causing more work for us with workarounds.(MS file service and single sign-on groups continually not mapping)
2. Difference in the workflow than in the asset bank and direct upload that cause metaproperty issues. (I.e., inability to apply metadata in a workflow to assets individually and not having taxonomy dependencies available within the workflow upload form).
3.Inconsistencies in searches. If my colleagues and I apply the same filters and/or search term(s), sometimes we will get different results. Similarly, if I conduct the same search more than once, the results will sometimes differ.
4. Not being able to download a PDF report for all workflow job file extensions (MS file capacity would be very appreciated)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They are a solution we have been able to implement for our affiliate countries worldwide for content approval and asset management.

Speaking from the DAM side of Bynder!

  • May 07, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
As an Admin, Bynder is a very easy system to navigate when it comes to uploading assets, entering metadata, user management, reviewing analytics, and many other features.
What do you dislike about the product?
• Making Collections is one of my favorite features, though when sharing just one asset, the system will then make a collection just for that asset. This can clutter up my collections, which is cumbersome.
• If your asset is Watermarked, and you Approve someone's access to download that asset, I wish, once they download that asset, the Watermark would re-appear, so if the same user needs to download that asset, in the future, they would need approval again. Now, once that asset is Approved, the system will allow that user unlimited access.
• It would be great if there were file types, image size customizations, etc., to select from, upon download. Currently, Derivatives are made, upon upload, but those are decided on, upfront, when the system is setup, and those may not meet everyones specific needs, at the time of download
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
• There are tremendous time-saving benefits to having assets in one place. Users don't have to reach out to others in search of assets. Assets are no longer dispersed on multiple servers/external hard drives.
• Being the Admin to the system, I am rarely questioned on things about the system, and that is a good sign that things are working well, and users are inding the assets that they need.
• Being able to tie in with stock image vendors, where purchased assets can go directly into the DAM, instead of being downloaded from the stock vendor, then uploaded into Bynder, is a huge time-saving.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
• Know what your needs are for a DAM system.
• Research how DAM systems can work for you.
• Come to the Bynder team with questions. The Bynder team worked very well with our team. Our customization needs were welcomed and fulfilled with great open-mindedness.

Bynder from day one has closely supported us.

What do you like best about the product?
Having an efficient and friendly Bynder support team. A solution that is end-user friendly and easily customizable. Our Dam portal consists of over eight hundred and fifty thousand assets and increases every day, yet the solution works efficiently with no lag issues when searching this large database.
What do you dislike about the product?
As Bynder's DAM solution is a global cloud solution, giving feedback and user interface improvements that are specific to our usage does mean that those improvements require multiple Bynder enterprise users to request those improvements before those changes will be actioned upon. That process can be very slow. I believe that a more detailed system of ranking these improvements could be in place to quickly bring these end-user improvements online.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sky, with the help of Bynder has brought our solution from its initial conception of an imagery bank for indexing and storage to an integral part of our business strategy. Our DAM portal is now linked to our in-house broadcast management system and automatically publishes assets to a number of our digital platforms. This has had the effect of reducing the workload on many of our teams.

One of the main issues prior to onboarding Bynder was the state of our companies digital asset management, assets were distributed through the business with no centralised hub; metadata was not being utilised to the benefit of both our teams and our content providers. Now, thanks to Bynder we have that central hub that stores, tracks and enables stakeholders from around our company to find what they require quickly. Restrictions and legal requirements play a significant role in what we do, so having that information tracking with each asset has added accountability and security.

Ofir Caspi, Bynder Review

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Bynder is clearly one of the domain experts in the space and can help guide my team towards a robust and effective DAM strategy and implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I was not and am not immediately involved in the day-to-day communications of the Spotify <> Bynder relationship, it did seem that the handoff/coverage plan, while our AM was on maternity leave, was lacking. My team mentioned multiple times that they did not feel well supported. While coverage cannot possibly equate the level of attention you get from your primary POC, I think it needs to be more than 20% of what Spotify is expecting. This is something I believe Bynder can improve based on our experience. Brittany is great, though, and we are happy to have her back!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are coming up with a cohesive infrastructure including metadata and tagging for all our editorial assets at Spotify.

What do you like best about the product?
This provider has tailored a site for us that works brilliantly across the different departments of our organisation. It's the best looking site within the RHS!
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it takes a while to solve problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to store assets such as photography and video in one place. It's great that many members of staff can have instant access to these resources and share around the organisation.
