Great tool for reverse ETL
What do you like best about the product?
Census is great to automate reverse ETL processes, such as uploading offline conversions to marketing channels. The tool is set up extremely fast and very intuitive. On top of that the service provider is very helpful and responsive making the tool implementation a smooth experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Census seems to be useful for quite specialized use cases. Some companies might prefer to build their own APIs or rather use a bigger CDP. While I do see advantages in using Census, it might not be the case for everyone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automated processes that needed to be done manually before and can therefore also now be done in a timely matter (and not only once per month for example). The feature of alerts when something was wrong is also very useful, so issues can be resolved quickly.
We've greatly enjoyed working with Census in a partnership capacity.
What do you like best about the product?
Census has been extremely responsive, technically knowledgeable, and collaborative as we look for areas of mutual opportunity.
What do you dislike about the product?
N/A - we've yet to encounter downsides to the partnership or hear of downsides from our shared, mutual clients using Census
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census has been able to solve pervasive data problems for some of our clients
Census is a very powerful tool that operates in a very unique space.
What do you like best about the product?
Serves as a key component of the modern data structure, by minimizing data silos and enabling your warehouse as your single source of truth for your data. Census allows customers to leverage their data and activate it in downstream tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Must be paired with a variety of other tools. Although the value of Census is clear at the moment, if the rETL feature is embedded in other tools moving forward, Census may lose its place in the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving data via reverse ETL. Activation of warehouse data in downstream tools. Our customers need Census to activate their warehouse data in downstream destinations.
Easy to implement and to use tool with a great support team (and vision)
What do you like best about the product?
The user interface, the integration and the team's support
What do you dislike about the product?
The depth of connectors (downstream) that could be a bit bigger
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps activate the data we have in our client's DWH
A market leading data ingestion tool that has saved my team vast amounts of time!
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran supports a breadth of connectors, with clear SLAs to provide reliable uptime. The DBT integration and scheduling are a big plus for our data engineering team. Fivetran has a clear interface that allows users to log in and understand what is going on with ease. The alerting features are also useful to keep the team up to date on any issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently, you cannot dual schedule on a connector ingest e.g. run every 15 minutes between 08:00-17:00 then run hourly between 17:00 and 08:00. People rarely need 15-minute refresh schedules overnight!
It would also be useful to decouple the ingest and transform scheduling so that they don't auto run together in sequence.
The costs of high-volume connectors are not the cheapest on the market.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran is allowing our data engineering team to ingest and transform data (via DBT) in our environment at speed and with reliability, the tools are designed to reduce significant overheads of maintaining and monitoring data ingestion connections and feeds. The ability to pair with DBT allows for us to run our ingest and transform processes with more ease vs. some of the competitors that we assessed.
Gets your data where you need it!
What do you like best about the product?
Census allows us enormous flexibility with our data. We aren't wedded to doing everything in salesforce (and therefore restricted by salesforce's limitations).
What do you dislike about the product?
I just wish Census integrated with everything!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census allows us to bring the valuable insights from our BI tool back into Salesforce, so we can use Redshift as our source of truth.
Great support
What do you like best about the product?
They met with my team many times until we could install all our databases. Super helpful all the team of Fivetran. Now our pipeline is working perfectly without any maintenance.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost of the rows is from zero every month. So you should have in mind that every month the cost is for all the historic data too. Also, they gave us an estimate that didn´t match for the real cost (an estimate of $35 and it cost $80 monthly)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having all our databases in the same place to extract them and take them to my warehouse where I can do queries to access data. It's useful and easy to maintain.
Redefining Data Synchronization
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Census is that it helps in managing data on the client side and using the same data for synchronizing across different platforms using integrations. The best thing is that data is being managed on a single side.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes is it not easy to use as it involves setting up integration and establishing database connections. It can be enhanced by working on a better API integration setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The major problem is often with managing the database and synchronizing it across other platforms. It not only enables data synchronization but also ensures data security. Moreover, data sync scheduling is also the best feature that actually helps in setting up campaigns on Facebook and Linkedin.
I've had a great overall experience with Census
What do you like best about the product?
Census makes it simple to get data from one source to another for us. That is why we have recommended it to other teams outside of our organization, it is a wonderful UI that is easy to use and interact with.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been a few kinks, but I do believe census has solutions for some of this already that we just need to integrate. One thing we realized is that anyone with access to Census can come in and change a data model with no record of what the model was before the change though it is nice to see who changed it. I think the GitHub integration would help with this issue, though. The other thing is the scheduler for data syncs ... it would be nice to have a way to view the schedules for all data syncs together rather than having to click into each model. This has become an issue with our primary data destination being Marketo.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census is solving the problem of moving our data out of our warehouse and into various tools to help us run various campaigns as well as power our email marketing data metrics.
Easy to use and scalable
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and simple to integrate ETL to data warehouses for those who have no technical knowledge or engineers, for example in Redshift and S3. It is scalable and easy to integrate with Salesforce
What do you dislike about the product?
I have noticed that the census requires to be the owner of the schema in Redshift which means has full permission on that. However, it sometimes clashes with certain policies in place in the company
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrating 3rd party source data into the data lake and redshift with less coding which is good for someone who knows the source data but less or zero experience in coding
