Set it and forget it

What do you like best about the product?
Service is reliable. Intuitive UI and configuration. Very helpful support. Informative error reporting and notifications. Easy to set up. Same datasets produced errors in HighTouch. They just worked in Census
What do you dislike about the product?
Haven't found anything we don't like. Would be helpful to have a sync log covering all of our syncs. Paging through the sync logs for individual syncs takes a couple extra minutes when we're digging into the status.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've replaced two home-rolled integrations for Salesforce and Hubspot with Census. This switch has allowed us to sync additional data from outside our main app to these tools. Updates to the data syncs can now be performed by analysts rather than software engineers and we have much better visibility into the progress and status of the data syncs

Currently use Census to sync data with Braze.

What do you like best about the product?
Love that I can create models on the fly using SQL.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dislike that if I want to add a new column to an existing model, I have to resync the entire table.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enabling us to integrate with Braze, powering our ability to effectively market to users.

Simple, straight-forward and effective

What do you like best about the product?
I like how simple and straightforward it is to work with Census. Just model your dataset, set up a sync (connection) and you are done! Census does the rest. It's very intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is, that you need to be an engineer to be able to work with Census. For the other administrative people who aren't necessarily engineers, they maybe be able to work with it right away. You have to have some technical SQL knowledge. I envision a future where there is GUI for modeling your model, no code necessary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reverse-ETL. As a larger organisation, you have many different systems and third-party software collecting valuable data points. These data points quite often need to be shared across these pieces of software to, act as inputs or to build other complex models. This is where Census comes in. It helps us keep all our pieces of software in sync
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are few players in the space that Census is, no doubt, but I can say it satisfied my Reverse ETL needs. Especially because it is so simple and intuitive to use. Its a tool which does the job

Missing some features, but works well once configured and great support

  • June 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Census works well once you've configured a sync and doesn't require a lot of supervision post-sync establishment. Account support is also great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some minor features that are missing that would be nice to have, but to be expected with a growing company and product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census allows us to easily extract data from our warehouse and sync to other external systems without the need for p2p integrations.

Easy to use once all set up!

What do you like best about the product?
The two things that separate Census from the rest are the testers and the team! We've used both to accelerate our onboarding onto Census. Whenever we run into a snag, we start by debugging using the tester. If we're unable to come to a solution with the tester, the Census team usually jumps in and provides great support to bring us home.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup was quite difficult to get squared away. This could have been a product of my team being new to the space & some internal restrictions. Once we got the testers green, it was fairly smooth sailing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation of CRM data from our data warehouse to SFMC

    Food & Beverages

The product has been very good and the people have been very good to work with.

What do you like best about the product?
The product is very simple to implement and was very intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to send data to and from multiple sources. For example, if you could send data from Netsuite into Anaplan that would be great. Another example would be instead of just Google Sheets to Anaplan, there was a way to send data back from Anaplan to Google Sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping us get data that was previously in a silo out to a source that's now much more scalable and more insightful.

Decent reverse ETL tool

What do you like best about the product?
For the most part, Census works well and is easy to use. It does what it says on the tin with little struggle. The Census team also seems to be continuously upgrading their product, and already some complaints I previously would have had have been addressed.
What do you dislike about the product?
- can be difficult to debug errors
- unable to see past versions of queries
- testing a new sync or a sync change is very limited
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census allows us to get all of our customer data into Salesforce quickly and easily.

A very valuable, resilient, and flexible Reverse ETL Tool

What do you like best about the product?
Census supports more integration destinations than I've seen in the market, and their team is always open to feedback on connector improvements and additions to their suite.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing structure has been difficult to navigate at times. Depending on the destination, its addition can have a very large impact to cost (ex. Netsuite, SalesForce).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Census to push customer data down to a variety of tools from our enterprise data warehouse. This includes tools such as SalesForce Marketing Cloud, and Zendesk. Additionally, upon signing with Census, they partnered with us to develop a Pendo connector, which we still use today.

The user experience is great

What do you like best about the product?
The easy usage of Census and the reliability are the key factors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not really a critique, but the sync duration is rather long. But this is probably due to the large amount of data
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Synching data from one source to an external source.

An indispensable tool for BizOps and Go-to-market teams

  • June 01, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Census puts BizOps and GTM teams in the driver's seat when it comes to syncing data across different systems. Prior to Census, we were dependent upon Data/Engineering to send product data like user engagement and paywall status to our CRMs, and it could take days to weeks based on the capacity of those teams. Now, we can sync that data in mere minutes without any code required. It's a game-changer! Our GTM teams have become so much more data-driven as a result.

What I like best about Census is the responsive and helpful customer support team. During our time working with Census, we've pinged them for everything from fixing broken syncs to configuring new models. They are extremely knowledgeable about the tool and are even willing to go deep into our data with us to problem-solve analytical problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Historically, the thing that has bothered me most about Census was the lack of robust audit logs / data transparency. Sometimes we would set up a sync and certain records would fail, but we wouldn't fully understand why and the error codes were not incredibly enlightening. It was also impossible to get a full view (every row) of the model that you created, so you had to have a certain amount of trust that the model was configured correctly based on just the first 25 rows in the preview. However, Census has addressed this in their latest Observability features and we are excited to have more transparency into our data, what is being synced and where, and why it sometimes fails.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census is helping us with a few problems:
- Quickly and easily sending data from our product/customer databases into end-user tools like CRM
- Sending alerts into Slack when certain events happen

This is benefiting us by making us a more responsive and data-driven organization
