Game changing for operations teams
What do you like best about the product?
Census is so easy to use. For organizations with data siloed in their data warehouse or data lake, census makes it super easy to transform and leverage that data inside your other tooling systems.
I remember first being introduced to Census and within 30 minutes we had product data in our CRM. We had been talking about this project for two years prior and Salesforce quoted us an insane price for some custom tooling to achieve the same result. With Census, I piped product data into SFDC and had reporting spun up for Reps in a day. It was magic.
Oh, and it gets better. If you start leveraging a transformation tool like dbt to create models, you can do a ton of sophisticated data transforms and then pump it back into your CRM or tooling. Salesforce makes it a nightmare to do lead or account scoring, so you either have to do magic math with formula fields or have a developer / flow expert who can actually create something valuable. With Census powering the data flow you can write SQL models and provide insights to your teams that you never thought were possible.

What do you dislike about the product?
Improved data monitoring would be nice, but other than that it is really easy to use and they make it pretty simple to get models up and running. I am not sure if you can do this, but updating records only if the prior value is changed would be nice too, though you can control this in your data modeling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census solves the gap between the massive amount of data that exists at companies and the ability to surface that data to your employees in a digestible and clean way in the tools they directly interface with.
Automated the distribution of data with constantly changing requirements
What do you like best about the product?
We struggled to find the best way to surface our product data to the downstream systems we needed to power the customer experience we wanted to drive. We built a custom solution in-house, but it was fragile, and the effort to update it when a team changed the data points they wanted to capture was too high. We built our first Census model in a day, and overnight, we were able to enrich far more records than we could with our previous system thanks to Census having more context from other data sources. They took the time to understand our business during the onboarding phase and provided creative solutions to expand how we're leveraging the tool and their support team is excellent at proactively reaching out when something might not be working the way we expect.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real complaints, though it's worth noting that you'll need to coordinate with your data team or develop some basic SQL knowledge to extract the most value from the tool. They've made some significant strides in enabling a low/no-code approach to setting up audience segments once you've built that muscle, but to get the maximum value, it will help to have some foundational SQL skills.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had various data asks from other business areas that required us to pipe data from our product to a myriad of systems. Those requests were constant and ever-changing. Census allowed us to create a series of common models on which the other cross-functional teams could align and extract insights from the most relevant data.
Helpful tool for data synchronization
What do you like best about the product?
We use Census for pushing data from Snowflake into Salesforce. Tool was very easy to set up and has been running seamlessly in the background. We have gotten a few notifications of errors via email but we love how simple and reliable it is. Team at Census was great to work and is super responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall it has been great. Personally I prefer the pricing of the tool to be based on connectors or something similar vs number of fields that you sync, however that is not a reflection of the product or the company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census was an easy to use tool that allows us to sync data from our data warehouse into our CRM environment. It is easy to configure and performs its job reliably.
An easy to setup and powerful tool
What do you like best about the product?
* Very easy to setup and use and supports the applications we currently use
* The new edit feature for columns in existing syncs is helpful and faster than the previous case to delete and add the column again
* Makes data more accessible to stakeholders who can view the information directly on the CRM without the need to query any database
* Love the 'Model' features with which simple SQL queries can be used to create a custom model to sync the data

What do you dislike about the product?
* One thing that can be improved is providing the test row feature when making changes to an existing sync. Right now, this is only offered when creating new sync
* If a sync has too many fields, it is challenging to browse through to find the one you are looking for; a search feature would be beneficial here
* Setting up an initial sync takes up some time, and it has happened before that I have been logged out when trying to save the sync only to realise that it has all gone and now I need to re-do
* A feature to copy an existing sync would be helpful for situations when the same sync needs to be set up for different environments

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Allows non-technical stakeholders to view the data directly in the business application they use, which now has data from other sources synced to it through Census.
* No need to setup any personal infrastructure to do reverse ETL
* Using real-time data to feed Braze, which handles our email communications.

A great tool to avoid hard coding every new parameter request from teams
What do you like best about the product?
- Key integrations available for both the data source and the destination (in our case BigQuery to Mixpanel, among others).
- Good onboarding process (this involved a challenge to use the tools to select T shirt size from source data)
- Intuitive and simple layout
- Quick and helpful support (the few times I have reached out, I could tell they really understood my issue and had already set up a copy of data to try and replicate the issue - there was little back and forth)
- Sync scheduling

What do you dislike about the product?
Signing up for the app wasn't as smooth as it could have been - both myself and my colleague got stuck in loops when accepting invites, but support was able to quickly help!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidation and access to data, as well as freeing up the dev team's time. Previously for any new metrics or parameters that the various teams needed, we would need to hard code these metrics and send them to their respective destinations (including needing to deploy!). Now the dev team can quickly set up a sync with the requested parameters, or even other members of the team can jump in and arrange what they need to sync.
Senior Data Analyst
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicty and ease of use. The RevOps team owns this tooling and is able to easily onboard to Census and own the flow. Setting up new syncs is realtively quick and stratightforward. Strong technical skills aren't required to operate the product. Customer service is really good. Great team!
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's hard to debug why new syncs aren't landing into Salesforce. It would be nice to have some sort of sandbox environment to test new syncs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census is helping us sync data from BigQuery and unload that data into Salesforce so the Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams can operationalize that data.
Reliable solution for reverse ETL
What do you like best about the product?
Census is just a reliable product. We have a need to push data from Snowflake to Salesforce and rely on Census to do this daily. It works and I rarely even have to pay attention to it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Census only does batch reverse ETL, so if there were a need for near real time reverse ETL, census wouldn't be an answer. We also tried to push Json data from postgres to json data in S3 and struggled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census helps up move data from analytical database to operational system so people can see the data we've transformed in the place they're working instead of forcing them to a Bi tool.
Quick and easy tool with excellent support
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy and streamlined it is to set up and maintain syncs within Census. The amount of documentation available was enough to guide me through setup processes alone. Census makes it extremely easy to connect to my dbt project with clean integration. What pushed Census above and beyond was their eagerness and availability to work with me through issues that presented themselves through my setup process. Special thanks to Sean and Kurt for taking additional measures to ensure my issues were solved and always followed up in a timely manner with updates or fixes. Their excellent responsiveness has made it easy to overcome any problems that I encountered.
What do you dislike about the product?
There were a few known issues that I ran into when creating a connection with my dbt project. These were known issues that other customers were also experiencing. However, Kurt on the implementation team took thorough action to ensure that these issues were resolved quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reverse ETL through Census has been extremely helpful in getting data from the data warehouse into Salesforce. The CI checks are also extremely helpful in making sure that there are no downstream breakages from dbt changes.
Good for getting from 0 - 1
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get up and running. All you need are queries that can map to custom fields (in our case, SQL) and the destinations for custom fields (services like salesforce, zendesk, etc.).
What do you dislike about the product?
Incremental syncs require connecting to a read/write instance of your data source - but Census does not recommend connecting to your production instance. This requires a little bit of additional work to get off the ground. It would be interesting if Census could offer a solution in this space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reverse ETL functionality without all the infrastructure required for reverse ETL. It's allowed less technical teams to, with a bit of query knowledge, get data from one source to another.
Integrates with Salesforce
What do you like best about the product?
Connects well with other systems like Salesforce, Databricks, etc..
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a declarative solution so it requires code
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Contributing to tracking inventory and updating multiple systems
