A great tool to manage your reverse ETL

  • March 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is very clean and easy to use. The latest changes on the interface make it even better to navigate through all your syncs and to validate which tables/sources are been used to sync data into your targets.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of information regarding the schedule of each sync. Once a sync is created it will only tell you the name of the source table used and the target and also when was the last time it was updated but it does not tell you at what time it is scheduled to run. This is difficult when you try to manage multiple syncs that affect one specific target (for example, a contact in SalesForce) because you need to go and check the details to know that info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now we can provide better analytics to our SalesForce users by syncing curated tables from our data warehouse with the right information that they need into SalesForce. This has given us the ability to use our resources more efficiently and to empower our sales representatives.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sometimes the support team will take a little bit of time to get through certain issues. They will always have an answer or solution but it may not be promptly.

Census Review

  • March 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of ability to send data to different apps. The quick support from the team and adding all the custom features as soon as we request.
What do you dislike about the product?
Supports fewer apps compared to other Reverse ETL
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Syncing data from the cloud with multiple apps without the need of the developer team is a massive advantage and saves a ton of time for our company. Access to all the all API functions is pretty good

What do you like best about the product?
support for many systems (SFDC, NS, Marketo)
easy of use (Upsert, replication config)
UI
What do you dislike about the product?
no easy way to separate between dev/state/prod syncs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
replicate aggregate data from the data warehouse to SFDC, Marketo, NS
Use the datawarehouse to do resource-consuming aggregation that we can't do on SFDC and then sync it

What do you like best about the product?
Allow us to deploy our data pipeline easy and fast, without the need to have data specialist
What do you dislike about the product?
Could be expensive and not be affordable to every company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easy to implement an ETL or ELT with Fivetran, without a data specialist role

Accounting Automation with Census

  • March 07, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We have an in-house billing system, and we use Census to bring all customers, invoices, refunds and payments data into Netsuite. This used to take us 5 or 6 days to do manually every single month, with the large CSV files routinely crashing (and sometimes killing) our computers. Now, we just sit back and watch Census + Netsuite do their thing to book our revenue numbers. This may be the biggest software automation win for our team — interesting thing is that today’s accounting software doesn’t even look like “accounting software”
What do you dislike about the product?
Their Netsuite integration did not support some of the records we needed, so we had to ask their team to build support for these items. However, Census' team is super responsive and they brought these new integrations to production faster than their competitors could get on a call with us to understand requirements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Census to bring transactional customer data from an in-house billing system into our Accounting software (Netsuite). We have improved both speed and accuracy in our monthly financial reporting with Census.

Most powerful tool in our Stack

  • March 02, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, the number of connections, and just the overall optimized experience. We use this with Snowflake, Salesforce, and every other tool in our GTM stack.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a single thing about it, they are constantly improving how the tool works and implementing new features consistently to make it an even better experience. 100/10 - total fanboy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ensuring data consistency across all systems, creating automations outside of applications like Salesforce to improve speed and efficiancy, as well as leveraging the write-back ability from to do things that are traditionally not possible with in-app solutions.

Census makes my job easier!

  • March 01, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Census is how quickly I can go from a table in BigQuery to data in Mixpanel. The experience is seamless and a joy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product definitely has some rough edges. For example, I'd love the ability to duplicate a sync so that I don't have to type out redundant information multiple times. However, their team has been really responsive in addressing gaps!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Census, We've been able to get data from our applicant tracking system (Greenhouse) into Mixpanel, and for the first time we have visibility into our entire recruiting funnel!

Make reverse ETL easier to maintain and enable non-engs

  • March 01, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Census UI is clean and user-friendly. Non-engineers can config the connections, edit mappings and check the status of syncs. It also makes reverse ETL (multiple destinations) easier to maintain for the data eng team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I asked Census about connector supporting Mixpanel lookup table a while ago and it is live now! So please developing more connectors and more supported objects.
Role based permission managment is also needed. For example, admin is able to create and config source and destinations, while basic user can only edit mappings/schedule in syncs, etc..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to develop reverse ETL system with Python and Airflow for destinations like Eloqua, Mixpanel, Braze, Intercom, and Salesforce. Every destination requires different data types, formats, rate limits, and API requests. Census sets me from maintaining my custom code, so I can spend more time to optimize the system itself. The user-friendly UI enables non-engineers and stakeholders to adjust columns, mappings, and schedules. They can check the status of syncs anytime they want; they no longer need to ask if the data was synced successfully and when was the last sync.

Democratizing the data pipeline

  • February 28, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Census has a highly intuitive interface for any user who would like to quickly and securely sync data sitting in a cloud data warehouse to another SaaS tool. It can remove the need to maintain custom data pipelines (or at least provides a common tap for custom targets/destination APIs). This frees up time for data folks to address other parts of the stack and enables non-technical folks to make their own pipelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are bugs to work out as they scale and experience some growing pains, but the support team is very attentive to these issues. Otherwise, there are some highly desired integrations that still need to be built, which might be a detractor for teams who want to completely do away with custom data infrastructure to support reverse ETL processes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census provides a singular place to configure outflows from our data warehouse and has allowed us to remove many of the custom data infrastrucure we were using to manage these outflows (think many different scheduled serverless functions). Their tool makes governance and observability of our pipelines much more straightforward.

Census has changed the way we use data as a business

  • February 28, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Census has literally changed our business. It makes it incredibly easy to send any data anywhere, and make sure everything has the latest and correct version of all of our data - no matter how complicated the query is.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much! Pricing is based on connectors so it can get expensive if you have as many places to send data as we do, but it's still worth every cent!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Segment to send analytics to a warehouse and downstream, but as soon as there's any ETL required (or querying of that data), and where we want to send anything other than just a trait to another tool, we needed a way to sync our warehouse to downstream tools e.g. CRM, email apps, Slack etc.
